E-Cigarette Explosion Safety Concerns Increase As E-Cig Lawsuit Filings Continue
May 26, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on the news from a CBS News release discussing a Kentucky man who was recovering from second-degree burns after he stated that an e-cigarette battery in his pants pocket had exploded. The man had his scary occurrence caught on surveillance footage due to the fact that it happened at a gas station. In the footage, you can see the man run outside, struggle while attempting to remove his clothes, and get sprayed with a fire extinguisher by another man.
E-cigarettes have reportedly become a multi-billion dollar industry. Yet, as they become increasingly popular, reports of these types of incidents also appear to increase in number. Between 2009 and 2014 mainstream media reported 25 explosion incidents, according to FEMA, yet this number could likely be much higher as several explosions may have gone unreported. As these reports continue to surface, the devices are surrounded by ever-increasing controversy.
Another man was also mentioned in the article. He was noted to have been placed in a medically-induced coma at a Miami hospital following an e-cigarette explosion in his mouth. While e-cigarettes are considered by many to be a safer alternative to traditional smoking, their overall safety is now being brought to question.
