Electrical Accident Injures Worker, Prompting Comment From Personal Injury Lawyer
August 15, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman recently stated that he wishes a Kansas worker who was injured in an electrical accident a quick and successful recovery. Moverman added that these accidents are far too common in the construction industry and can many times end in a fatality.
A report from Lawrence Journal-World indicated that the worker had been driving a boom truck at the HERE Kansas construction site near Kansas University’s Memorial Stadium when the boom truck being used to lift materials came too close to overhead power lines, shocking the man. He was transported to a nearby hospital and his condition was not immediately released.
The leading causes of private sector worker deaths in the construction industry for 2014 were falls, followed by electrocution, struck by an object, and caught-in/between, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Additionally, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) stated that the “fatal four” were responsible for more than half of the construction worker deaths in 2014. According to the BLS, eliminating the fatal four would save 518 workers’ lives in America every year.
