Overall, the global vegetable trade reached 51 million USD, with a CAGR of 4% from 2007 to 2014. In physical terms, it increased from 49 thousand tonnes in 2007 to 61 thousand tonnes in 2014.

In 2014, the U.S. (16%), Germany (12%), the United Kingdom (8%), France (7%) and the Russian Federation (6%) were the leading destinations of vegetable imports, together making up 49% of global imports. The share of the U.S. increased (+2 percentage points), while the share of the United Kingdom illustrated negative dynamics (-2 percentage points).

Spain and Mexico were among the other main global suppliers of vegetables in 2014 with a combined share of 24% of global exports. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were China (+11% per year) and Mexico (+6% per year). China strengthened its position in the global export structure, from 6% in 2007 to 9% in 2014.
