Grace Foods Announces 6th Staging of Jamaican Jerk Festival, NY

Queens, NY – Grace Foods has announced the sixth staging of its highly popular Jamaican Jerk Festival – New York. The event is slated to be held on Sunday, July 17 at the Roy Wilkins Park in Queens New York, and will feature delectable Jamaican Jerk dishes as its main food lineup, as well as the best in Caribbean music and entertainment.

Known as the biggest Caribbean food festival in New York, the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival will kick off at 12 noon on the day and is scheduled to end at 8 pm. A number of booths will be set up around the venue offering a variety of tasty dishes, including favorites, jerk chicken and pork.

There will also be a Jerk Cook-Off Pavilion hosting the highly anticipated celebrity cook-off, which has become a main feature of the annual event. The 2015 staging of the festival saw 2014 Miss Universe standout, Kaci Fennel, participating in the cook-off. Chef Andre Fowles, who is the Food Network’s Chopped Champion for this year, will join in the challenge this time around.

Also planned for the family event are a number of fun activities to keep patrons occupied as they enjoy the spicy delights. They include a Kids’ Zone, which will feature rides, bounce houses, face painting, and other activities, as well as an area for sponsors, who will be offering prizes and giveaways. Among the sponsor’s for this year’s staging include VP Records, Western Union, Courts, The Jamaica Tourist Board and Digicel.

Entertainment, which is also a major lure at the event yearly, will feature cultural presentations and musical performances. The main acts include Third World, Ikaya, Dexta Daps and Gyptian, representing the best in Jamaican reggae and dancehall, along with Bunji Garlin and Fay Ann Lyons, who will bring the soca flavor.

With New York having a large population of Jamaican and Caribbean nationals, the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival, NY has become one of the most anticipated multicultural showcases to be held in the area.
