Holmes Custom Goes to Hati

Jacksonville CEO of Holmes Custom, Bryan Croft, Heads to Haiti to Aid in Disaster Relief and Construction of Teacher Housing

Jacksonville, Florida – September 30, 2017 /MarketersMedia/

Jacksonville business owner, Bryan Croft, along with a team of employees from Holmes Custom, headed to Haiti last week to aid in repairing roads damaged by Irma and Matthew and to visit local orphans and elderly. After the hurricanes ripped through this nation, which is already stricken by poverty, many were left living in shelters and other unsafe structures. Along with the Haiti 180 organization, Croft and his team, including Production Supervisor Jesse DeVaughn, helped raise $26,000 for a small village which includes an orphanage, school, elderly home and upcoming clinic. Each of these facilities was built with funds raised by the Haiti 180 organization.

The team’s main focus for this year’s trip was to make roads passable, which helps keep this small village functioning and growing, and to build housing for local teachers. “I thoroughly enjoyed my time helping this community, every person returned my smile and wave with gratitude, says DeVaughn. While the group was proud of what they accomplished during their time in the region, there is much more that needs to be done and more relief that is needed for this small village.

Croft also reports that the newest addition to the village, a much-needed medical clinic, is 85% complete, with medical equipment currently in route to the facility. This is set to help the region combat a number of common diseases that have already been eradicated in the United States, and to provide a safe environment for mothers to give birth.

Haiti 180 is dedicated to raising the funds needed to continue improving the roads, buildings and most recently, to pay salaries for doctors and medical staff who will treat patients in this new clinic.

Upon returning to Jacksonville, Croft reflects on his visit, stating “Maybe I should go back to Haiti. They have nothing and they never complain. A smile and a thank you is all they have to give. Here, we have everything and do nothing but complain.”
