About CITIVA
Founded in 2015 by Josh Stanley and a small group of New York healthcare professionals, CITIVA set a simple yet ambitious goal: to standardize and scientifically prove the therapeutic and clinical effects of cannabinoid medicine.
Stanley, a renowned medical cannabis advocate, witnessed the miraculous effects that cannabis extracts had on epileptic children and on many other patients with varying conditions. Thanks to the established team in New York, which includes a dedicated staff of physicians, horticulture experts, medical cannabis advocates, pharmacists, and chemists, CITIVA has a unique capacity to carry out its mission. CITIVA has recently established a research and development hub at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus in Kingston, Jamaica, with multiple collaborative human trials planned.
CITIVA is focused on advancing the study of cannabis and its efficacy in the field of medicine. CITIVA’s commitment to a well-designed drug development program to investigate cannabinoids will lead to a new field of clinical medicine for conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy and chronic pain, as well as for various mental health disorders.
About Josh Stanley
CITIVA’s co- founder, Josh Stanley is a leading medical cannabis authority and activist, working to advance cannabinoid science worldwide. A pioneer in the field, established the first true medical marijuana dispensary in Denver, Colorado, and witnessed the life changing benefits for children with epilepsy, as well as for patients with other debilitating conditions.
Josh is co-credited with breeding a non-psychoactive strain of the cannabis plant with low THC and high CBD content that has proven to be beneficial in treating varying degrees of epilepsy in both pediatric and adult patients. As co-developer of the revolutionary “Charlotte’s Web” strain, Josh has intimate knowledge of the difficulty involved in developing medicinal strains that balance the concentration levels of multiple components of the cannabis plant. CITIVA is developing the practices and procedures necessary to ensure consistency and quality for each batch of medicine produced. Josh’s efforts to alleviate sick children’s suffering with high-CBD cannabis extracts made international headlines in 2013 and was prominently featured on Sanjay Gupta’s highly acclaimed CNN documentary specials “WEED” and “WEED 2” in March of 2014.
Committed to responsible cannabis reform, Josh started Colorado’s first true political action committee and co-chaired the Medical Marijuana Industry Group, a non-profit advocacy group. In 2010, Josh assisted with the drafting of Colorado House Bill 1284, the first bill of its kind to further define and establish Colorado’s medicinal cannabis regulatory structure through the Colorado Department of Revenue. The following year he co-authored the research and development portion of Colorado House Bill 1043. Further, Josh sat on the rules and regulations board of the Colorado Department of Revenue’s Medical Marijuana Enforcement Division, as well as that organization’s rules and regulations board for research and development. As part of his advocacy and educational efforts in Colorado, Josh worked with The National Geographic Channel on a groundbreaking television series called “American Weed,” which chronicled his family’s mission to keep medical cannabis legal in Colorado and which tracked his observational research studies and patient successes with medical cannabis.
In April 2012, Josh and his five brothers co-founded the Realm of Caring, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, committed to promoting a higher quality of life for Coloradans affected by debilitating conditions through the use of concentrated CBD cannabis oil. In October 2013, Josh left the Realm of Caring in the hands of his brothers to pursue new ventures in the global cannabis industry, and in 2014, he founded Strains of Hope, a non-profit dedicated to assisting global principalities in the implementation of responsible cannabis regulations, and to funding further research. He continues to advocate daily for patient rights and responsible medical cannabis reform.
