Manager Becomes Victim Of One Of The OSHA Fatal Four

May 26, 2016 – – BulldogLawyers.com reports that according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), around 60% of all fatal construction accidents are caused by what they call the “Fatal Four”. The four accidents that make up this group include falls, electrocutions, being struck by a falling object, and being crushed by an object. Of these four, falls result in the most injuries and fatalities.

Recently, a man who worked for the Giant Food Store chain became the victim of a fall. There were no witnesses to his accident, but an investigation into the matter revealed that he had been working on a twelve-foot ladder and that he fell from that ladder. A fellow employee later found him unresponsive on the floor and called for help. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors confirmed that his injuries were consistent with a ladder fall.

He remained in critical condition for nearly a week and his family was hopeful that he might recover fully, however, his health took a turn for the worst and despite his doctor’s best efforts, he passed away when a blood clot cut off the blood supply to his lungs.

His employer reported the accident and his death to OSHA who has begun their own investigation. If it is found that the employer failed to provide the necessary safety measures, it is possible that they may be fined or shut down until the issue has been fixed.

Unfortunately, this man is just one of hundreds who have lost their lives because of a fall in just the first few months of 2016. Even though OSHA inspectors continue to visit workplaces at random to determined if all safety standards have been met, the administration is much smaller than most people believe, with only around 2,000 employees who are assigned to cover millions of job sites. Thankfully, many victims and their loved ones are able to recover compensation after an accident through various legal avenues.
