‘Meanwhile in Africa’ Interactive Course Launches for Juneteenth

A New Interactive Social Studies Program for Kids in Grades K-5 Promotes Cultural Awareness and Entrepreneurship with a Factual and Well-rounded Perspective Rooted in Critical Thinking, Collaboration, and Self-Guided Learning

In celebration of Juneteenth, Just Like Me Presents is proud to announce our new program, Meanwhile in Africa. This interactive and engaging course is the newest addition in the JLM Presents’ award-winning programming centered around giving students for grades K-5 a more factual and well-rounded perspective when it comes to the history learned in school, especially African-American culture and history.

The program also focuses on cultivating a growth mindset, promoting critical thinking skills, and creating leadership opportunities, all important characteristics for growing 21st-century entrepreneurs
Families and educators are able to access this exciting program in a number of ways.

Individuals desiring to work at their own pace are encouraged to check out the online program. Content is assembled by grade level and families select the appropriate level for their children. Learners are able to interact with other MIA community members to discuss content, share learning, and collaborate on projects.

Educators are encouraged to invite community members to participate in this important programming through a series of workshops where participants take an all-encompassing look into the characteristics of the continent of Africa – its places, people, contributions to the global society, and how we can use that knowledge and apply the concepts of perseverance and resilience to make a lasting change in the world.
