Eco Friendly Vietnam currently provides grass straws with 4 lengths: 11, 15, 20 and 25 cm. Eco Friendly Vietnam’s grass straws are made from 100% natural Lepironia articulata trees. Lepironia articulata is a tree species that grows wild in the Vietnam Mekong Delta areas. It is a 100% biodegradable material. The plants used to produce grass straws are organically grown and sterilized by high-temperature, ultraviolet light. Eco Friendly Vietnam’s grass straws passed SGS testing. The products can be used as plastic/paper straws and reused many times. Consumers can use grass straws in hot and cold water without dissolving or deforming.

Grass straws are 100% natural products, so the size also greatly depends on nature. Due to the grass’s peculiarity with a 3 to 8 mm diameter, the grass straw diameter also fluctuates in that number. Consumers can use the grass straws for drinking coffee, cocktails, soda, tea, diluted smoothies, etc. Grass straws are not suitable for thick drinks and big toppings.

The eco-friendly products’ price is often higher than other common products. The grass straws’ price is about 5 times higher than plastic straws and 3 times higher than paper straws. It ranges from 350 VND to 750 VND per tube depending on the specification, quantity and quality required.

As a 100% natural and biodegradable product, grass straws are eco-friendly and a great solution to replace plastic straws. Each year, Eco Friendly Viet Nam’s farmers harvest grass once in the period from September to December. The grass straw production process and quality control take place strictly. The product is safe for consumers’ health and does not affect the drink’s taste. The production process includes the following stages:

Step 1: Soak the harvested grass in a natural whirlpool bath to remove the soil. Rinse with clean water before drying.
Step 2: Screen drained plants to standard diameter sizes (3 to 8 mm) and discard unsatisfactory ones. Cut the grass to the standard straw size.
Step 3: Clean inside by the manual method.
Step 4: Clean and disinfect in Ozone Jacuzzi using pure oxygen over 92% ± 5%.
Step 5: Expose direct sunlight for 4 to 5 hours to remove all the condensation outside and inside.
Step 6: Put in the drying oven at 50°C to 80°C to make the straws completely dry, have a beautiful natural color and not deform during use.
Step 7: Thoroughly inspect finished products to remove defective, not aesthetically pleasing, low-quality ones.
Step 8: Proceed to package.
