Phoenix, United States – February 22, 2017 /PressCable/ —
Today Phonenix Arizona DUI Attorney Gordon Thompson announced the creation of the Defendants’ Forum page where Arizona criminal defendants and their families can help others in similar situations by anonymously sharing stories telling about real experiences. Online there are many forums where lawyers, police officers, crime victims and others involved in the criminal justice system can post experiences and opinions about what happens in DUI and criminal defense cases. The opportunities for defendants to post real life experiences are quite limited.
Attorney Thompson said, “This forum page is needed now because in 2017 there is no real place today where defendants are able to share experiences. The purpose of this forum is to provide a platform where defendants can help others in similar situations by describing what actually happened in the case. This Defendants’ Forum page is not intended for lawyers to provide advice, nor is it for crime victims and others involved in the criminal justice to share experiences; sites already exist for those purposes. The Defendants’ Forum page exists so defendants can help others in Maricopa Country and other areas in Arizona by posting.”
Although other forums are helpful they do not provide a point of view from the prospective of a defendant, and their family, facing a criminal charge in areas like Scottsdale, Arizona. As defendants and their families cope with a DUI or other criminal charge seeing circumstances from the point of view of someone in the same position is very important. This perspective can be very helpful because it contains first-hand personal experience with such problems as finding and dealing with an Arizona criminal defense lawyer, going to court, dealing with pretrial services, MVD, counseling, jail visitation and work furlough.
On other forums lawyers can give advice on how to retain an attorney, but what is more meaningful for a defendant and their family is to hear the experiences of other defendants who have gone through hiring a lawyer and how they compare the initial representations the lawyer made with the service ultimately provided. Currently a defendant and their family can check a particular attorney’s reviews, however, there is not a central forum like the Defendants’ Forum where all defendants can share their thoughts about hiring and working with an attorney.
Defendants’ Forum is a site where defendants can also provide guidance to others by describing what really occurred after being charged with a crime.
Thompson’s law firm in Phoenix is sponsoring the forum on his website and promoting it only as a free service, and will not collect or use any information, such as email addresses, for self benefit. Thompson went on to say the firm is sponsoring this forum because in 37 years of practicing criminal law, defendants and defendant’s families have had many experiences which could help others in the same situation minimize the impact of a criminal case after the case is decided. Finally Thompson stated he is creating the Defendants’ Forum because often defendants and defendant’s families have it would be beneficial to share those experiences with others but do not have an easy as well as anonymous way to do it.
Thompson also said the forum has an admonition for people not to identify themselves or post confidential information such as case numbers, cities, names or communications with their lawyer.
