Political-Tech Startup Voting Buddy Takes The Midterm Elections By Storm.

Voting Buddy is helping voters make informed voting choices for the upcoming midterms by matching them with candidates who best fit their beliefs.

United States – November 8, 2022

Pressure is mounting on voters as the midterm elections draw close. As candidates make their final efforts to sell themselves, voters are left with the task of sorting through the candidates to find one that best represents their ideals. For voters, their candidates determine the country’s direction, which makes it that much more of a crucial decision. While some voters have already made their decisions, many others are still trying to narrow down their choices by comparing and judging the candidates. Voting Buddy is a newly launched tool helping voters with political candidate comparison.

Voting Buddy, a political-tech website, is helping voters identify the politician that best fits their beliefs ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. Dr. Dwight L. Williams, the founder of Voting Buddy, explains that the platform is an excellent resource for voters. It is a passion project that he started working on a decade ago.

While working on the platform, Dr. Dwight received a cancer diagnosis but continued working on it with the help and support of students. Now, the platform is off the ground and has proved massively effective, especially over this election period. Voting Buddy has already attracted users from 45 states who have found the app helpful.

Dubbed the Myer Briggs for politics, the political test presents voters with five quick questions they can complete in ten minutes. The politics quiz asks questions ranging from views and voter stand on national security, social policy, foreign policy, immigration, and more. Once completed, the voter is paired with like-minded candidates in their voting district. The platform is voter focused and objectively pairs voters with candidates representing their views.

The Voting Buddy left-to-right meter helps voters determine where they stand on conservative and progressive ideologies based on their answers to the quiz. The platform also identifies every political candidate’s position on the graph based on a user’s zip code. Voting Buddy then highlights candidate information. This helps users see how aligned they are with a politician’s ideologies. Voting Buddy is revolutionizing political tech and helping young and uninterested voters make informed decisions.

Currently, Voting Buddy’s candidate comparison is available for congressional candidates, senators, and house representatives, with hopes to expand to state elections soon. The platform founder, Dr. Dwight, shares that the project has been a massive help to him as a voter, and he hopes to extend that same help to others to aid their voting decisions. Many people who’ve used Voting Buddy have likened it to a ‘love languages test but for politics.’

Following its success, the platform founder is strongly committed to developing it further. In an interview, he shared that the Voting Buddy team hopes to build user communities, user-to-celebrity comparisons, and more functionalities to make the platform an all-rounded resource.
