Randburg to Unite Against Drug Abuse: Community Prepares for Truth About Drugs March

The Randburg Community is preparing to take a bold stand against drug abuse as the community comes together for the *Truth About Drugs March* on August 27th, 2024.

Randburg, Gauteng, South Africa – August 16, 2024

The Randburg Community is preparing to take a bold stand against drug abuse as the community comes together for the *Truth About Drugs March* on August 27th, 2024. Organized by the Foundation for a Drug-Free World in partnership with the Church of Scientology in Randburg, the City of Johannesburg Municipality, and the local ward councilor, this event is expected to draw together people from all walks of life, united by a shared commitment to freeing their community from the devastating effects of drugs.

Outraged by the speed at which new vicious and addictive drugs are being made, the march will serve as both a protest against drug abuse and a powerful statement of hope and resilience. Participants will march through the streets of Randburg, carrying messages of resistance and empowerment. Signs reading messages such as “Free Randburg from Drugs” and “Protect Our Youth” will be visible throughout the event, underscoring the community’s determination to protect its future.

“With the support of our partners, this march will demonstrate our collective resolve to say ‘no more’ to the destruction caused by drugs in our community,” says a local activist planning to attend. The event is backed by a coalition of partners, each bringing unique strengths to the initiative:

Church of Scientology: Known for its community outreach programs, the Church of Scientology is providing crucial support in mobilizing volunteers and spreading awareness about the march.

-City of Johannesburg Municipality: The municipality is playing a vital role in ensuring the event’s smooth execution by offering logistical support and resources.

– Ward Councilor: The local ward councilor is actively involved in engaging residents and rallying community leaders to participate in this important cause.

The Foundation for a Drug-Free World, along with its partners, will provide educational materials during the march, equipping participants with crucial information on how to prevent drug use and where to seek help. This event will emphasize that the fight against drugs begins with education and awareness, aiming to prevent drug abuse before it starts.

“We are expecting a strong turnout because our community is ready for change,” says a local school principal who will be speaking at the rally following the march. “By participating in the march, we will be taking action to ensure a safer, healthier future for our children and our community,” said Vusi Sibiya from the Church of Scientology.

Youth involvement will be a key focus of the event, with many young people expected to join the march. Their participation will highlight the importance of educating the next generation about the dangers of drug use and empowering them to make informed decisions. “We want our peers to understand the risks and make the choice to stay drug-free,” says a youth participant eager to join the march.

The event will conclude with a rally, where local leaders, activists, and partners will address the crowd, urging continued community involvement and vigilance in the fight against drug abuse. The Truth About Drugs March will mark the beginning of a larger movement aimed at eradicating drug abuse from Randburg.

As the event draws near, organizers are calling on all members of the community to join the march. “This is a fight we cannot win alone. We need every voice, every hand, and every heart in this community to come together on August 27th,” says a representative from the Foundation for a Drug-Free World. “Join us to make your voice heard and to help create a drug-free future for Randburg.”

Organizers anticipate a significant impact from the march, including the distribution of thousands of educational materials and the mobilization of ongoing community efforts to keep the momentum alive. Post-march activities, such as workshops and support groups, are planned to ensure sustained community engagement.

The Foundation for a Drug-Free World is a nonprofit organization committed to educating youth and adults about the realities of drug use. Through its educational programs and community outreach initiatives, it aims to prevent drug abuse and promote healthier lifestyles.

About the company: Since 1981, we have served a growing congregation in Johannesburg North. Johannesburg holds an exceptional place in Scientology history. For it was in Johannesburg that the Founder of our religion, L. Ron Hubbard, made his home in the early 1960s and worked to bring the spiritual freedom of Scientology to our nation. Above all, it was here he sought to revitalise the indomitable African spirit—a spirit which, once sparked, could burn forth throughout the world and thus realise his prediction and his dream: “From Southern Africa will spring the next great civilisation on this planet.”
