Realtor Matthew Share is Changing how Commissions Work, Aligning Commissions with Results
ATLANTA, GA / ACCESSWIRE / March 10, 2020 / The time has come for Realtors across the country to update the rules of commissions to ensure accountability and fairness, according to Realtor Matthew Share, of the Real Estate for Atlanta Group at Maximum One Realty.
"A common misconception among home sellers is that Realtors are all pretty much the same," said Share.
One example is how the Realtor gets paid after the home sells — otherwise known as "the commission." The majority of Realtors charge their clients a set percentage of a home's sale price once the property is sold.
"The problem with this system is that the commission rate usually does not change based on how long the home is on the market," noted Share. "Real estate agents are simply not incentivized to sell a home quickly. If a home sits on the market for one year, the Realtor will still make the same commission. That isn't fair to the homeowner, who has to remain in a state of limbo while waiting for their home to sell."
To address this issue, Share created a written service-level guarantee for his clients. The agreement stipulates that his commission is directly related to how quickly the client's home is sold — and at what price.
"Tying my commission to how quickly a home sells makes me a true partner in the home sale process — and gives me a strong incentive to actually perform beyond the time when a client signs the listing paperwork," stated Share.
Share moved to Atlanta in 1996 and left a career in software development to become a Cobb County Real Estate Agent in 2004. He has qualified for several real estate awards, including reaching Million Dollar Club Life Member status with the Atlanta Board of Realtors and being crowned a top producing agent at his firm many years in a row.
