As a curious, and slightly rebellious child growing up, Gus used his desire to follow his own path, as a tool for success in his future. He has always been passionate about following through with his ideas, even if it meant taking the road less traveled at a young age. He launched his first successful business in high school, and would continue in a life of being in business for himself. Looking back, he realizes that desire for business and building wealth has always been there.
Funneling that entrepreneurial spirit in the right direction hasn’t always been an easy road. Gus chooses not to dwell on negativity, but rather is thankful for the positive people and situations in his life. He points out, “The lesson that I have learned is that negative people do not become positive just because they are successful. I try to help as many people get into business as I can. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are in the circumstances that they are because of negative attitudes and difficult dispositions. Otherwise, my ride has been a blast.” That blast has been carved by hard work and staying grounded.
When asked about his daily habits, Gus points out daily walks with his mother, to share conversation with her, which keep him grounded, and remind him of the principles he was raised on. Other than that, his advice is to hit on major points every day, meeting with partners and managers to keep everything on track and see where improvements need to be made.
