Texas Man Files Xarelto Lawsuit Claiming Drug Caused Personal Injuries and Economic Damages
March 26, 2016 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on an article from Madisonrecord.com about a recently filed suit in which a Texas man claims the blood-thinning drug Xarelto caused him personal injury. According to the article, the suit, filed in February, alleges that Xarelto’s manufacturers, Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., “negligently and carelessly misrepresented the usefulness, quality and safety of the drug to the plaintiff, the plaintiff’s physicians, hospitals and medical providers.”
This is not the first time the drug and its manufacturers have come under fire. In addition to several thousand individuals who have filed suits in MDL No. 2592 claiming the drug caused adverse side effects, many of those plaintiffs also argue that the manufacturers did not adequately warn them about the possibility of such side effects. According to a New York Times article, clinical trials indicating Xarelto’s safety have also been investigated by the FDA, who are now asking whether a faulty blood monitor used in the trials may have tainted Xarelto approval.
The drug was approved by the FDA for preventing blood clots and deep vein thrombosis in patients undergoing knee and hip replacements, atrial fibrillation, and for general use in reducing the recurrence of blood clots, and stent thrombosis in patients with acute coronary syndrome. Plaintiffs have alleged that side effects including heart attack, stroke, pulmonary embolisms, epidural hematoma, internal bleeding, brain hemorrhaging, and gastrointestinal bleeding were directly related to their use of the drug. When the drug was released to the market there was no known reversal agent or antidote for Xarelto and dialysis is not a solution for flushing the drug from your system to enable coagulation.
As those plaintiffs await trials, Attorney Joseph Osborne is working with those who believe they may have been negatively affected by the blood-thinning drug. He is working to ensure that those affected parties have the opportunity to thoroughly look into their legal rights. Qualifying individuals may be entitled to financial compensation and legal action. Osborne is currently offering complimentary legal consultations to those who believe they have been affected.
