The Kick Switch is a Hands-Free Garbage Disposal Switch for a Safer and Cleaner Kitchen Experience

Live on Kickstarter, The Kick Switch is the sleek, under-the-sink switch that lets users control the garbage disposal hands-free.

Fremont, California – April 27, 2024 /MarketersMEDIA/

The Kick Switch, the revolutionary new hand-free, under-the-sink garbage disposal switch, is live on global crowdfunding website, Kickstarter, and raising funds to bring the project to life.

Traditional garbage disposal switches often require users to use their hands, which can be unhygienic, especially when handling food waste. Counters get wet when reaching over and the wall near the switch tends to get splashed as well. The existential fear of water and electricity in such a close proximity is always on the back of the mind. The Kick Switch is a breakthrough new solution offering a hands-free alternative, allowing users to activate their garbage disposal unit by simply using their foot to press a discreetly placed switch.

“About 40 years ago, I was electrocuted by an improperly-wired garbage disposal switch. After that, I wanted to improve how we turn on garbage disposals. One day, I saw a mushroom-head button and had my ‘eureka’ moment: I could use that to create a switch I could kick and turn on my garbage disposal,” says co-inventor Desmond Brown on the inspiration behind the project. “After a bit of wiring and work later, the Kick Switch was born. The one thing that made this invention stand out from my other inventions was the fact that my wife loved it. The Kick Switch has improved her dish-washing flow, and she urged us to put it on the market. Now we are here on Kickstarter doing just that.”

The Kick Switch features a sleek and minimalist design that seamlessly integrates into any kitchen decor. It is easy to install and compatible with most standard garbage disposal units, making it a practical solution for homeowners. Wet hands and disposal switches have never been so far apart. The air-driven design of the Kick Switch means that the Kick Button, the part of the Kick Switch users kick, has no electrical components whatsoever, adding an additional layer of separation between people and the electric current. The air-driven design also means that the button is so soft, it can even be pushed on with bare feet.

“My wife loves it. Need I say more? Okay, I will: making your garbage disposal foot-operated means you no longer need to touch an electric wall switch with wet hands or interrupt your dish-washing flow by drying your hands before touching your garbage disposal switch. The Kick Switch eliminates all that. And its air-driven design means no electrical components are near you during operation,” Desmond adds.
