Valmie Resources (VMRI) Endorses Education of Lawmakers on UAV Agricultural Applications
DENVER, CO / ACCESSWIRE / March 27, 2015 / Valmie Resources Inc.’s (OTCQB: VMRI) President and CEO Gerald B. Hammack today commented on the panel discussion held Wednesday titled “Agricultural Applications of Unmanned Aircraft Systems” jointly hosted by the House and Senate Unmanned Systems Caucuses. The panel was part of a Senate subcommittee hearing on the benefits and risks of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV’s). The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) moderated the panel.
“Unmanned vehicles will have a huge impact on agriculture, with endless applications. As AUVSI members, we support the organization’s efforts to better educate lawmakers on one of the most important areas of the drone industry,” said Hammack. “According to AUVSI, agriculture is expected to take 80% of commercial drone applications once integration into the national airspace is achieved. Drones will help growers oversee millions of acres across rural America, saving them big dollars.”
AUVSI’s economic report predicts that UAV’s will have the greatest impact on the agriculture industry, eventually adding more than $75 billion to the economy.Drones allow farm operators to use remote sensors for crop and livestock management to scan plants for health problems, record growth rates and hydration, locate disease outbreaks, and more efficiently spray crops, saving money and reducing environmental impacts.
The Capital Hill event included scheduled panelists from the American Farm Bureau Federation, American Soybean Association, National Corn Growers Association, National Association of Wheat Growers and National Association of Independent Crop Consultants.
