Xarelto Lawsuit Alleges Georgia Manâs Fatal Internal Bleed Was Caused By Drug
December 15, 2015 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on another lawsuit which joins the over 2,200 federal cases filed in the Xarelto multidistrict litigation. This case was filed in the Eastern District of Louisiana under complaint number 2:15-cv-00885 on behalf of a Georgia man by his son after the man passed away due to serious internal bleeding. The son alleges that his father’s fatal internal bleeding was caused by his use of blood thinner Xarelto.
The federal cases that this complaint joins are not the only ones filed against the blood thinner, claiming that it causes dangerous uncontrollable bleeding episodes. Xarelto lawsuits are also the subject of a Mass Tort Group of around 500 cases which has formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Both of these consolidations are formed in order to expedite the legal process, avoiding duplicate discovery or different rulings from multiple judges. All cases are filed against defendants Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a division of Johnson & Johnson), and Bayer AG, manufacturers of anticoagulant Xarelto.
This complaint was filed on March 20th of 2015. Further details show that the son attributes his father’s death to the drug, which he says caused the fatal uncontrollable bleeding episode. The father was using Xarelto to treat his atrial fibrillation condition. The plaintiff states that he and his family were not aware of the significant dangers of Xarelto, specifically regarding the fact that it has no corresponding antidote. Had they known these imperative details, he asserts, they would have chosen an alternative blood thinner.
Xarelto has recently become considered the most dangerous blood thinner currently on the market by many people due to its lack of antidote. Having no antidote means that if a person using Xarelto begins to bleed, physicians will be unable to stop the bleeding and clot their blood. In these circumstances, doctors have to resort to extreme emergency, life-saving treatments such as blood transfusions. Traditional blood thinners are different in that have an available antidote in vitamin K. If a patient taking a traditional blood thinner bleeds, doctors can treat them with vitamin K and counteract the medicine’s effects, clotting their blood.
As lawsuits filed against Xarelto continue to grow in number and the cases await trial, Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to ensure that anyone who has taken the drug and has suffered adverse health effects will be able to fully explore their legal rights. These individuals may be entitled to significant compensation. Attorney Osborne is offering complimentary legal consultations for affected individuals at this time.
