Xarelto Lawsuit Claims Drug Caused Ohio Woman’s Gastrointestinal Bleed

December 02, 2015 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on a lawsuit filed against blood-thinning drug Xarelto which claims that the drug caused a woman’s gastrointestinal bleeding. The victim, a woman from Ohio, stated in details within the suit that she was given the drug as a preventative measure to avoid any stroke risk that might be caused by her atrial fibrillation condition. Less than a year after starting to take the drug, however, the woman began to experience a gastrointestinal bleed, which she states was caused by the blood thinner.

Xarelto was approved by the United States Food and Drug Association in 2011, and it entered the market as a revolutionary new type of blood thinner which, as other blood thinners had in the past, did not require special diets or regular monitoring and dosage adjustments by a physician. These factors contributed to the drug’s initial popularity. After a short time, however, these factors contributed to much of the controversy surrounding the drug as well.

As a one-size-fits-all, one-pill-per-day drug, Xarelto has become the subject of much scrutiny. Today, Xarelto has become widely considered the most dangerous blood thinner on the market. This is primarily because the drug was released to the market without a corresponding antidote, which many plaintiffs allege shows negligence on behalf of the manufacturers.

Because Xarelto is a blood thinner with no antidote, when patients using the drug become injured and bleed, physicians can do nothing to clot the blood. In these situations, they have to resort to extreme life-saving measures such as blood transfusions to try to keep the patients alive. Other traditional blood thinners are able to be countered by vitamin K, so if a patient using these blood thinners is injured, physicians can apply vitamin K, and this will counter the effects of the medicine and allow their blood to clot.

Xarelto lawsuits have seen a recent explosion in number, with over 1,700 cases now federally filed. These cases have been consolidated to form multidistrict litigation number 2592. Those involved in these suits all similarly allege that the drug causes uncontrollable bleeding episodes which are dangerous and sometimes fatal. Plaintiffs state that the manufacturers were negligent by releasing the drug to market without an antidote and by failing to warn consumers of the significant dangers associated with their drug.

Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to ensure that anyone who has suffered from an adverse health event after using Xarelto will have the opportunity to explore their legal rights. It is possible that these individuals may be entitled to take legal action and obtain significant compensation. Attorney Osborne is offering free legal consultations for those involved at this time.
