Ruth Schwartz Cowan Re-Releases Popular Books

December 31, 2015 – –

Ruth Schwartz Cowan, who is an author, educator and historian, is proud to announce that she has relaunched her four highly popular books. The author is famous for her books on the development of technology and how these technologies have affected women in the household. While originally published in the 1980s and 1990s, the subject is still relevant. The books are proving to be very popular once again.

“I have always felt that there is a very strong link between technology and the role of women and this link is often overlooked,” says Ruth Schwartz Cowan. “As technology continues to develop, and the role of women continues to change, I felt that reintroducing my books to the market was a relevant thing to do. I’m happy to see men and women alike are once again interested in my books.”

The four re-released books are “A Social History of American Technology”, “More Work for Mother”, “Heredity and Hope: The Case for Genetic Screening” and “Sir Francis Galton and the Study of Heredity in the Nineteenth Century”. The latter is not yet available for re-release, mainly because it is not relevant to the issue of technology and women. The book “Heredity and Hope: The Case for Genetic Screening” is becoming particularly popular again.

“In this extensively researched and well-written book, Cowan explores the history of genetic testing, paying particular attention to the meaning of genetic testing to those who developed it and those who experienced it,” says Dominique T. “In doing so, Cowan deftly undermines the arguments made by opponents of genetic screening who see the technology as inexplicably linked to the eugenics movement, who see it as a form of discrimination against the disabled, and who see the routinization of prenatal genetic testing as an example of a paternalistic medical profession diminishing women’s autonomy.”

Ruth Schwartz Cowan, an historian of science, technology and medicine, with degrees from Barnard College (BA), the University of California at Berkeley (MA) and The Johns Hopkins University (PhD), encourages everyone to visit her website on http://ruthschwartzcowan.com/ for further information about her writings, technology, and the role of women.

Fortune 500 Companies Reviewed By Swedish Company

December 31, 2015 – –

Fortune500s, a business in Vallsta, Sweden, is proud to announce that they have reviewed all the top companies and their website now includes information on each of the Fortune 500 companies. Additionally, further finance related information has also been made available. Full details can be found at http://www.fortune500s.net/.

“The Fortune 500 companies are inspirational,” says Jonas Petersson from Fortune500s. “These are the companies others aspire to be. They are the ones to watch, as well. After all, each Fortune 500 company was once a startup, so there are many things that can be learned from them. Our website is filled with pertinent information on each of these companies and we can only hope that it inspires others to get to that same level.”

In 2014, the 500 largest companies around the globe had a combined revenue of $31.2 trillion. Their profits reached $1.7 trillion. Additionally, these companies are the places of employment for some 65 million people around the globe. The 500 biggest companies are spread out across 36 different countries. Fortune500s has made it their mission to review each of these companies and to provide information that people want to find out about them in one place.

The list is compiled by the Fortune Magazine, which also looks at the wealth of various individuals. The first list was published in 1955, and it has been updated every year since. While the top few spots have been pretty consistent and include such companies as Walmart, Sinopec Group and Royal Dutch Shell (the top three companies this year), other spots are not necessary a given and there tends to be some fluctuation in which companies are and are not included on the list.

Through the new Fortune500s website, people can learn more about each of the companies. This will also help them understand why a certain company may have been able to get on the list one year, but not in a subsequent year. Petersson says that learning from the best, and the Fortune 500 companies truly are the best, is a fantastic way for others to try and improve themselves, their products and their services.

Sexual Assault Attorney Files Child Sex Abuse Lawsuit In Delaware

December 31, 2015 – – AbuseGuardian.com reports on a child sexual abuse case filed in the Superior Court of Delaware in Kent County on February 27, 2014. Case number K13C-10-017 RBY was filed naming Kiddie Kollege Institute as the defendant.

The Plaintiffs, the parents and guardians of the child, are residents of Delaware and entered into a written contract with Kiddie Kollege Institute, the Defendant, for child care services. During the time of the alleged abuse the minor was 17 months old, and the Defendant was charged with the minor’s care. During the month of November 2012 the minor Plaintiff would frequently come home with bumps, bruises, scratches, and cuts on her body. The minor Plaintiff’s mother reported this to The State of Delaware, Department of Services for Children, Youth, and their Families, Office of Child Care Licensing. An investigation was conducted on a new teacher which concluded that the teacher was physically assaulting the children, including the minor Plaintiff.

In the month of December 2012 the minor Plaintiff began coming home with dirty diapers and soiled clothes. The minor’s mother addressed this with the owner of the the Kiddie Kollege Institute, and was assured that it would not occur again. According to court documents, the minor Plaintiff became ill on December 17th, and required hospitalization where she was diagnosed with swelling of the kidneys and a “adult-type” urinary tract infection. During January the minor Plaintiff began exhibiting behavioral changes, and became fearful of having her diaper changed. She began to complain of pain “down there.” After numerous marks continued to appear on the minor the Plaintiffs terminated their contract with the Defendant. The complaint states that after medical examination the minor Plaintiff was determined to have been “physically and/or sexually assaulted in/or around her vaginal area”.

“As our society’s most vulnerable members, young victims of sex abuse are often unable to speak for themselves,” commented Attorney Brian Kent of Laffey Bucci Kent, the firm behind AbuseGuardian.com. Brian Kent understands the sensitive and serious nature of these allegations and fights tirelessly to protect the rights of sexual abuse victims.

Former Montgomery County Prosecutor Comments On Bill Cosby Sexual Assault Charges

December 31, 2015 – – AbuseGuardian.com, reports on comments from a former Montgomery County Prosecutor and current sexual assault survivor attorney, Brian Kent, Esq., on the recent charges filed against Bill Cosby for aggravated sexual assault.

Kent commented: “One can only conclude that the charges of aggravated sexual assault levied against Mr. Cosby are significantly buoyed really because of his 2015 deposition testimony wherein he admitted to giving quaaludes to the victim, which became public during the summer. If he had asserted his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination in that deposition, which he should have done, this evidence would not have existed to significantly bolster the evidence against him and potentially, the criminal case would not have been reopened.”

Mr. Kent was a sex crimes prosecutor at the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office under District Attorney Bruce Castor from 2004 through 2007 where he was responsible for prosecuting cases against those who committed sexual assault/abuse crimes. Kevin Steele, the current District Attorney who charged Mr. Cosby, was Mr. Kent’s trial chief.

Kent continued: “Mr. Cosby has already settled a confidential civil lawsuit with the woman who is the alleged victim in this criminal charge. A civil settlement does not mean that Mr. Cosby is guilty or not guilty. They basically settled out of court. I welcome today’s charges, announced by District Attorney Kevin Steele, as now a court of law will hear all the evidence and decide whether Mr. Cosby is guilty of the charges of sexual assault.”

To date, over 50 women have stepped forward with similar allegations against Cosby. The comedy star allegedly used alcohol and pills to render women unconscious where he continued to sexually assault them.

The applicable statute of limitations regarding the current charges against Mr. Cosby is twelve years from the date of the offense. The charges filed this week come eleven years after the alleged incident where Andrea Constand was drugged and sexually assaulted. Prosecutors in 2005 declined to press charges against Mr. Cosby in this case due to a cited lack of evidence, however this Wednesday, they decided to proceed after the unsealing of Cosby’s deposition in July by a judge as well as the corroboration of other women who allege they were assaulted by Cosby in a similar manner, resulting in the re-opening of the criminal case.

Mr. Cosby and his legal team continue to deny that he sexually assaulted Ms. Andrea Constand. They have taken the same position on approximately 50 other women who have come forward alleging sexual assault by Cosby.

Cosby is currently free on $1,000,000 bail as the criminal legal process moves forward.

Brian Kent is an experienced sexual assault victim attorney. He has represented victims in civil lawsuits against Penn State for the sexual assault committed by Jerry Sandusky, and he regularly speaks and teaches Continuing Legal Education to peers on the subject of sexual assault crimes and civil lawsuits to obtain compensation from entities whose negligence enabled the abuse to occur. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the Thomas Kline School of Law at Drexel School of Law in Philadelphia.

Mr. Kent is currently actively involved in various sexual assault/abuse civil cases, including, most notably, civil cases against a specific franchisee of the spa chain Massage Envy in Pennsylvania where he has filed several lawsuits that allege Massage Envy was negligent in enabling the sexual assault of plaintiffs who attended the Spa for massages, as well as representing the victim in the civil case against Father Andrew McCormick and the Archdiocese of Philadephia.

For media inquiries or questions about sexual assault, contact Brian Kent on 866-577-2786.
