“In addition to appointing Dr. Dummer, the board acknowledges his most valuable service to the university during the past 24 months as interim president,” Dr. Dean said. “With the strong support of the board, faculty, staff and administration, we have confidence that his leadership will serve the university well as we move forward in the grace and power of our loving Savior.”

Dr. Dummer received a bachelor’s degree in history from Simpson College, a master of divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, a master’s degree in history from California State University at Chico, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from George Fox University.

“I am grateful to the Simpson board for this appointment and its confidence in me to lead the school well,” Dr. Dummer said. “I strongly believe in the continuing relevance of our historic motto, ‘Gateway to World Service,’ and my desire is that we increase Simpson University’s impact in the local community and the broader world through well-prepared graduates who are committed to global service.”

He and his wife, Debbie, have been married for 40 years. They have two grown daughters.
