April 22, 2015 – – Circuit board manufacturer PCi, occupying a warehouse space in Freeway West Property, is offering ENEPIG, the finest surface finish for circuit boards.
PCi (Printed Circuits inc.) is a specialized manufacturer of Rigid Flex printed circuit boards. These circuit boards are typically used in high reliability electronics, where shock/vibration survivability, packaging density, or weight reduction are the primary concerns. Rigid Flex circuits gives you the ability to design your circuitry to fit the device, rather than building the device to fit the circuit board. Flex assemblies also reduce connectors, and the labor, yield, transmission, and reliability issues that are inherent in their application.
PCi circuit boards are used in military, aerospace, and medical applications, where there’s no option for failure. The reliability of their technology is built into your products. Their largest market today is the medical electronics industry, followed by military electronics, computer, telecommunications, and instrumentation.
“Nearly everything built at PCi is Rigid Flex or flexible circuit construction. We have the focus and experience to help you engineer your product for success. We’re now manufacturing flex and Rigid Flex circuit boards with ENEPIG, a new generation surface finish for high reliability electronic packaging solutions,” says Bob Burns of PCi.
ENEPIG, or electroless nickel, electroless palladium, immersion gold, is a surface finish for printed circuit boards that has been around for a decade but is only recently gaining popularity. The high price of palladium had kept it out of reach for most businesses. With the price of palladium now less than the price of gold, this surface finish becomes the best choice for wire bonding, ROHS assembly and all circuit boards overall.
“PCi is one of the most experienced manufacturers of complex, rigid flex and flexible circuits for high reliability electronic packaging. We have been building them since 1982 and have the largest UL qualification for rigid flex approvals in the world,” says Burns.
UL (Underwriters Laboratories,) provides safety-related certification, validation, testing, inspection, auditing, advising and training services to a wide range of clients, including manufacturers, retailers, policymakers, regulators, service companies, and consumers.
UL Standards represent the very best in scientific methodology and testing expertise, combined with invaluable input from experts and stakeholders, industry to academia, manufacturers to end-users, via UL’s consensus-based standards development process. Ultimately, UL Standards function as a benchmark that enables consumers, businesses, and regulators to feel confident about the products and services they purchase. UL uses its Standards Technical Panels (STP) process for consensus standards development, which has been approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Founded in 1980, JGM Properties works with over 300 tenants, including PCi, to provide office, warehouse, and retail space for lease in Minnesota. JGM Properties owns and manages Freeway West Property, as well as 15 suburban Minneapolis warehouse, and office space properties.
“We have 45,000 square feet of manufacturing, with 40 employees. The average employee has been with Printed Circuits for over 11 years, which is a testament to their loyalty, craftsmanship, and expertise in the unique disciplines of rigid flex manufacturing,” says Burns.
