HOUSTON, TX / ACCESSWIRE / June 25, 2015 / Gerald B. Hammack, President of Valmie Resources Inc. (OTCMKTS: VMRI) today commended lawmakers and stakeholders for exerting pressure on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to accelerate finalization of rules for commercial drone operations. In recent testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives Oversight and Government Reform Committee, a senior FAA official said “The rule will be in place within a year. .Hopefully before June 17, 2016.”
“The shortened timetable for final rules follows a series of actions by the FAA to accommodate commercial drone operations and we commend the lawmakers and stakeholders who have worked to encourage the agency to accelerate this process,” said Hammack. “Unmanned systems have the capacity to transform the economy and unfortunately the U.S. is losing billions in potential revenues while waiting for federal rules. We are encouraged that the agency has responded to the flood of requests in a positive manner.”
Participants in the congressional committee hearing included a senior Amazon executive, who told lawmakers that the e-commerce giant was preparing to begin delivering packages to customers using drones once cleared by the final FAA regulations, a service that is expected to revolutionize package delivery in the U.S.
In the interim, the FAA has streamlined its process for exempting companies for commercial drone operations and now is allowing up to 50 companies a week to incorporate UAV‘s into their businesses.
“We are in the process of completing our FAA exemption package while the agency continues to work towards large scale commercial UAV use. Drones will drastically change the pace around so many industries, and leading edge companies are moving forward and gearing up for it now.”
