International Coastal Cleanup in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic – a Huge Success

International Coastal Cleanup day was a massive success in Bayahibe this year. ScubaFun and SeavisTours, together with Cluster Turistico La Romana Bayahibe facilitated 11 divers to collect 15 black bags of garbage off the coast of Catalina Island. Sustainable tourism and the importance of conserving the underwater ecosystem were highlighted and important bonds were strengthened.

Spirits were high and friendships were formed on this year’s International Coastal Cleanup day in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic. 11 divers from 8 different nationalities volunteered to go diving at Catalina Island to clean up this beloved dive- and snorkeling site. After a quick briefing highlighting why the ocean is so important and what effects pollution have on the environment as well as tourism, the diving commenced.

Catalina Island is one of the Dominican Republic’s major tourist attractions. Just off the coast of this paradise island there are some of the most favoured dive sites and snorkeling spots of the area. Catalina Island’s waters have been a Marine Protected Area since 2007 in order to preserve the historical remains of what is believed to be Captain William Kidd’s 1699 Quedagh Merchant as well as the coral reef and its inhabitants.

The pollution/garbage accumulating on the coast of Catalina Island poses a threat to the health of the underwater eco system. It is believed that after heavy rainfall and the flooding of the Chavon River in La Romana together with the currents of the Caribbean Sea, the pollution is constantly being washed up on the shores of Catalina Island.

The team of divers descended to about 4 to 6 meters and after 25 minutes the divers stumbled upon a graveyard of old plastic and other garbage. Some divers even found remnants of old toys like doll heads. After a total of 75 minutes the divers collected 15 full black bags of trash including plastic bottles and bags, shoes as well as a few tires from the bottom of the otherwise gorgeous and full of life reef bordering the famous Catalina Wall.

High fives were in abundance and a sense of comradeship was established among the whole dive team. Lunch was served on Catalina Beach where there were talks of making this initiative a recurring event in the local dive community in order to promote sustainable tourism as well as raise awareness regarding the importance of conserving the beautiful coral reefs.

It was a heartwarming experience having people from different backgrounds and life stories come together for this mutual cause. Worth 95 million dirhams, this pilot project will help support the national energy strategy launched by Morocco in 2009 and which seeks, through the development of solar and wind energy projects, to bring the share of renewable energy in the total installed electric capacity to 42% by the year 2020, curb greenhouse gas emissions and slash the consumption of conventional energy sources.

The institute is part of the partnership agreement signed on May 31, 2011, under the chairmanship of HM King Mohammed VI, between the State and professionals of the sector of renewable energy and energy efficiency, and concerning the setting up and management of three institutes of renewable energy and energy efficiency training jobs in Oujda, Tangiers and Ouarzazate.

These institutes (285 mln MAD), including the Oujda’s which is already built and equipped, are meant to train operators, technicians and executives on jobs related to renewable energy and energy efficiency, mainly the maintenance and exploitation of wind farms, the installation and maintenance of solar, thermal and photovoltaic equipment, the maintenance and exploitation of thermodynamic solar electricity, and the use of biogas fields.

Constructed over 19,735 square meters, the future IFMEREE of Tangiers will be carried out by the ministry of national education and vocational training within 18 months and will ensure training notably on the maintenance and exploitation of wind farms, the installation and maintenance of solar equipment, the exploitation of biogas fields, and energy efficiency (transportation, industry..).

DXP vs DMP: Why Real-Time Data Exchange is Critical to Customer Understanding

The data industry today is filled with consumer data used to target advertising and soon to target much more, but the industry as it stands today is filled with invalid and out of date data. The DXP is designed to ensure data quality, accuracy and timeliness for more efficient results.

Is there truth behind the statement that we’re all “drowning in data”? Perhaps. However, few marketers or ad agencies would claim they’re drowning in actionable insights. Gartner reports that sales via a data management platform (DMP) or data exchange (DXP) is the third most-common driver of revenue for marketing organizations. In a traditional DMP environment, both first and third-party data insights may offer limited value and veracity issues. Just because a consumer was searching for a mortgage six months ago doesn’t mean they’ll convert on targeted banner ads today. If they were well-qualified for traditional home funding sources, they’ve likely received it and closed on a new residence. Additionally, just one piece of behavioral-based data on a customer isn’t enough to develop a robust understanding of customer segments. Traditional DMPs build segments based on a single piece of behavioral data. In a DXP, buyers are able to develop highly-qualified segments by merging data points. You may choose to sort targets based on a combination of qualifications and current activity. Perhaps your target is someone who is searching for a mortgage, but also meets certain income guidelines, drives a luxury vehicle, and lives in a specific region of the country.

Consumer behavior and needs change quickly, and marketers should beware data vendors who aren’t offering comprehensive data insights. Consumers may be lumped into segments based on outdated online behaviors or interests in making purchases that have long been completed. Without the ability to merge and sort based on both propensity and current activity, you’ll struggle to target the right consumers. Houston Foundation Pros Announces Engineered Driven Pile System

A revolutionary improvement in the most commonly used foundation repair system in Texas has been announced by Houston Foundation Pros According to the owner, Martin Dawson, these changes are the result of intensive brainstorming and discussion by his staff and independent structural engineers. Their goal was to eliminate or reduce as many of the drawbacks of the pushed pile system while keeping its overall cost comparable than competing repair systems.

“What we have noticed for a number of years is that many home owners simply cannot afford our premium product, Bell Bottom Piers, despite the fact that they offer a permanent solution,” said Mr. Dawson, “and we had never offered these lower cost repair methods because of their inherent limitations and disadvantages. However, the fact is that a homeowner with a $90,000 home has a hard time budgeting for a $5,000 to $10,000 foundation repair job. Often this homeowner would select a lower cost and lower quality repair method because that was all he or she could afford,” added Mr. Dawson.

As described by one of the independent structural engineers who assisted in this project, the re-engineered driven pile system has three major improvements. First, Houston Foundation Pros is using a threaded steel rod that will run through each of the concrete cylinders and connect all of the cylinders in a vertical column. This will enhance the probability that the concrete cylinders will be driven in as a vertical column without skewing off to one side or the other. Second, the cap, a rectangular block of concrete that transfers the weight of the house onto the column of vertical concrete cylinders has been significantly strengthened with a steel cage. This steel cage gives the cap the ability to support more weight without concerns about fracturing. And third, the company will use a pressure injected grout slurry around the cap to give it a larger footprint in the soil. This will expand the cap about five inches on each side and greater assist in the prevention of water seepage down the column of concrete cylinders. Too much water seepage down the column of cylinders will reduce the skin friction and the thereby reduce the ability of the column to support weight.

The pressure grouting around the cap also offers a significantly higher Factor of Safety, one of the most important benefits of the new Dawson Driven Pile System. Game On: CrowdGather Revenue Jumps 74% as Insiders Accumulate

SEATTLE, WA / ACCESSWIRE / September 21, 2015 / CrowdGather Inc. (OTCQB: CRWG) recently announced revenue that jumped 74%, gross profit that rose 84%, and a narrowed net loss during its fiscal first quarter 2016. At the same time, Chairman & CEO Sanjay Sabnani purchased a substantial number of shares in the open market in early- to mid-June, in a sign that management is confident in the company’s future. These dynamics sent the stock more than 50% higher following the news release.

Since acquiring Plaor back in May of 2014, the diversified technology company has realized significant top-line revenue growth while bringing its bottom line close to breakeven. The company’s subsequent move into the canna-tech and crowdfunding industries a year later represents an additional market to grow and diversify its revenue base, while still maintaining its focus on reaching a breakeven point and generating long-term shareholder value.

Mega Fame Casino & Slots, a multi-platform social casino acquired through Plaor featuring slot machines and poker, has been a key growth driver for CrowdGather over the past year.

With nearly 20,000 daily active users, the social casino platform generated over 80% of revenue and helped offset a drop in revenue from forum advertising (see Figure 1). These metrics should continue to improve given the 68% increase in average booking per user from $0.19 to $0.32, as well as a 24% increase in average daily bookings to $5,681 from $4,579 (see Figure 2). While active users fell, it reflects an effort to reduce ad spending and targeting higher value users.

Moving forward, management plans to transition its focus from growing average bookings per user (e.g. profitability) to increasing its average number of users (e.g. revenue) after reaching a sufficient level of monetization and retention where that can support expansion of player counts. These efforts should help further drive higher margin revenue growth and ultimately lead the company to reach a breakeven point sooner rather than later.

Cannabis & Crowdfunding

CrowdGather acquired WeedTracker.com and several other cannabis-related digital assets in April of 2015, marking its entry into the multi-billion dollar cannabis industry. In addition to extending WeedTracker into a mobile locator app franchise, the company revealed plans to develop WeedInHollywood.com into its first cannabis-themed gaming title and ultimately merge its social gaming business into the burgeoning cannabis space.
