25 Year Old Composer Stephanie Ann Boyd Announces Season With Over 70 Performances

New York, New York – September 18, 2015 – Stephanie Ann Boyd, a recent graduate of the New England Conservatory in Boston, has announced a 2015/2016 season with several projects based in Boston and one project that will see a performance in each of the 50 states.

Upon graduating in the spring from New England Conservatory with a masters degree in music composition, Boyd was immediately commissioned by several new music groups to write pieces for the upcoming season. Washington Square Winds, based in NYC, will premiere Boyd’s Galliard on October 25th in Long Island, Cincinnati Soundbox will premiere Boyd’s Imogen for flute and piano on November 8th in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Kalliope Septet will perform Boyd’s new work for them several times over the next year.

By far the largest endeavor Boyd has on her plate this season is her 50 State Sonata Project. The project is a large scale co-commission; a new sonata for violin and piano being premiered by one violinist in each state. This is Part I of a two year project dedicated to the life and work of John Kendall, the man who brought the Suzuki method to the US in the 1960s.

In discussing the process of contacting the 50 violinists who will be performing the piece, Boyd said “it’s been so thrilling to codify and deepen existing relationships by choosing several long-time colleagues for this project. I’ve also really enjoyed meeting many new violinists through this project – what better excuse to make new friends than through new music?” Notable participants of the project include Er-Gene Kahng, Concertmaster of the Arkansas Philharmonic, Bryan Hall, Concertmaster of the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra in Alaska, and Curtis student Brendon Elliot.

Boyd is used to balancing a heavy work and composing schedule. As co-director last year of New England Conservatory’s Tuesday Night New Music series she organized seven concerts of new music in the school’s four halls and funded its new promotional platform with a grant she won from NEC’s Entrepreneurial Musicianship Department. She also helps coordinate the North Shore Chamber Music Festival in Chicago, run by violinist Vadim Gluzman and his wife, pianist Angela Yoffe. Most recently, her violin concerto was premiered in Jordan Hall by 2015 Michael Hill International Competition runner-up Eunae Koh, and in March conductor Gil Rose led the Boston Modern Orchestra Project in the premiere of her symphonic work Ondine. Will she take a break anytime soon? “No”, laughs Boyd. “Every so often I get letters from fans telling me to slow down, but I’m just getting started.”

Boyd lives in Manhattan and teaches private composition lessons via skype to a studio of international young composers.

Landscaper In Portland Oregon Now Offers Free Quotations

September 18, 2015 – – Monaghan’s Landscaping, a landscaper in Portland Oregon, has announced that they now offer completely free quotations on their work. As their portfolio has expanded, they have noticed numerous people asking them for details, but worrying about requesting a full quotation as they thought it may oblige them to have the service completed as well. The company wants to reassure everyone that their quotations are 100% free and no obligation at all.

“Of course, we hope that our quotation leads to a job for us,” says Colette Ellis from Monaghan’s Landscaping. “However, we do not expect our customers to guarantee this to us. We just feel that if they see what we can do for them, they will probably want us to get started straight away. We are committed to quality and customer care and are ready to take on any job.”

The services offered by company are extensive and go beyond simply changing a few plants. Specifically, the company is also a retaining wall contractor in Portland Oregon. Their portfolio shows a number of examples of retaining walls they have completed and these show the tremendous variety of work that they are able to provide. In fact, this shows the tremendous vision the contractors have, something that has been picked up on by their clients.

“This company is stellar!” says Jamie. “The vision that Colette has for the design of a backyard is amazing. They suggested alternatives that I had not thought of and carried out the project at a very affordable price, quickly and efficiently. My backyard looks so inviting and I will definitely be entertaining here a lot, especially around the fire pit with the paver patio. The office staff is so very pleasant to talk with – all in all, this is the only landscaping company in my future!”

Finally, the company also offers sod lawn installation in Portland Oregon. They have also listed the ten biggest benefits of choosing sod lawn for those who want to have some grass on their property. A free, no obligation estimation on the cost of installing a sod lawn can also be provided.

The War over Invisible Code: COBOL-IT Shaking Up Micro Focus’ COBOL Monopoly

85% of business transactions worldwide run on code written in the COBOL language. Micro Focus has had a near monopoly for managing it on open systems. But a new challenger, with demonstrably superior services at 50-80% less cost, is causing many Fortune-class customers to convert.

Image: https://pressreleasejet.com/newsreleases/images/2015/cobol-it.jpg

18 Sep, 2015 – Few have heard its name, but everybody uses it. Code written in the COBOL programming language powers most digital transactions worldwide, each day processing 200 times as many transactions as there are Google searches. Widely used by Fortune 2,000 companies around the world, its business oriented design has made it the top programming language for banks, payment companies and other financial institutions, driving an enormous market for COBOL software and services.

Nearly all of the market on open systems – well over $200 million – has been owned by Micro Focus (LON:MCRO). But the legacy management Goliath now finds itself challenged, as France-based COBOL-IT gains traction in the US with the allure of comparable performance and reliability at a typical cost reduction of 50-80%.

COBOL-IT boasts such clients as the French Ministry of Finance, Pepsico, Carrefour, Axway, French Yellow Pages, French Social Security, HSBC and Pelephone (Israel), among many others. Since coming to the US 6 years ago, COBOL-IT has already earned over 100 North American clients in the financial, retail and government sectors – 80% of them migrated directly from Micro Focus.

The latest company to migrate to COBOL-IT is one of the largest payment services providers in the world. The company recently signed a global OEM agreement with COBOL-IT, allowing them to build the COBOL portions of their software into their credit card handling application and distribute it directly to customers. The new implementation was tested, approved and implemented in less than six months.

“Thanks to constant acquisitions, companies running COBOL on open systems haven’t really had a choice except Micro Focus,” said Stephane Croce, CEO of COBOL-IT. But even as a new, relatively small competitor, Croce isn’t worried about being up against a giant as large as Micro Focus. “The monopoly puts a lot of IT managers and CIOs in tough positions, many of them even using outdated versions of Micro Focus software simply to manage costs. The demand for an alternative is growing, opening up lots of opportunities. We’re more affordable, more flexible, and our code is more evolved. If we’re playing David, well, we’ve got a great slingshot.”

COBOL-IT has devoted considerable efforts to make transitioning to their services as quick and seamless as possible while mitigating risks that come with large-scale code migrations. Their compiler and pre compilers by design are compatible with a wide range of platforms, and COBOL-IT is in the process of expanding its already large tech support base in the US to further assist with implementation.

COBOL-IT Director of Technical Services Bob Cavanagh explains, “When a large corporation indicates that they are exploring alternatives to their COBOL compiler, you can be certain they have a high degree of motivation. Fortune 2,000 companies don’t do migrations like this unless the benefits are clear.”

COBOL-IT’s products include a compiler suite, a family of pre-compilers and a developer studio/IDE. The entire COBOL-IT Product Suite runs on Windows, Enterprise Linux, z/Linux and UNIX platforms. The COBOL-IT Compiler Suite includes an ANSI-compliant COBOL compiler and utilities. The COBOL-IT Developer Studio allows programmers to develop, debug and maintain COBOL code in a familiar Eclipse based IDE. The CitSQL pre-compiler family allows users to seamlessly integrate COBOL programs with embedded SQL statements to MySQL, PostgreSQL and ODBC-compliant databases into their application. COBOL-IT’s North American growth has led the company to seek technical and commercial partners in order to take advantage of the growing opportunities for migration.

For press inquiries, contact Chris Orris at chris@oxygen-pr.com or at (630) 294-6645. Interviews can be arranged upon request with COBOL-IT management.

About COBOL-IT

Founded in 2008, COBOL-IT has rapidly assumed a prominent position in the global COBOL community, migrating hundreds of customers, with hundreds of thousands of users and hundreds of millions of lines of COBOL code. Partnership agreements between COBOL-IT and leading providers of technical services and software solutions in open systems ensure that moving to COBOL-IT can be accomplished at low cost and low risk everywhere in the world.

Website Launched To Help People Find The Best Rhinoplasty Surgeon In Sydney

September 18, 2015 – – Rhinoplasty Surgeon Finder has launched a website to help people across Sydney find the best possible rhinoplasty in the area. They do this through a variety of methods. First of all, on the website, a number of vital pieces of information are listed in terms of things relevant to rhinoplasty. Second, people are given the opportunity to leave their details so that Rhinoplasty Surgery Finder can contact them with further information.

“Rhinoplasty is a procedure designed to help improve people’s physical appearance,” says Rod Smith from Rhinoplasty Surgeon Finder. “It is vital, therefore, to only allow a properly qualified and registered surgeon to perform this procedure. If something were to go wrong, after all, the results could be devastating. We are there to help people make the right decision.”

The Rhinoplasty Surgeon Finder also wants to encourage people to look into whether their operation can be covered under their insurance. If rhinoplasty is completed for cosmetic reasons only, it is unlikely that the insurance companies will help with the costs. However, if there is a functional problem with the nose, such as breathing problems, then it will be seen as a necessary medical procedure that benefits the patient overall, and they will cover it, either fully or in part.

Rhinoplasty Surgeon Finder also wants to encourage people to watch a few rhinoplasty videos. This will give them more information about what to expect from the procedure itself, how different surgeons are reviewed and what the eventual results of the procedure can be. Additionally, they are told to find properly registered surgeons. “The Sydney area has many competent surgeons to choose from,” adds Rod Smith. “Rather than relying on Yellow Pages or newspaper advertisements it is usually best to secure a recommendation from a local board or organization of cosmetic surgeons, such as the Australian Society Of Plastic Surgeons. Experience is a definite plus so choose a surgeon who has been in practice for an extended period of time (10 years).”

The company believes that their information on RhinoplastySurgeonFinder.com.au will help more people be successful with their operation. They encourage anyone considering the procedure to contact them first.

Brekford Selected by Baltimore City for Body Worn Camera Pilot Program

Company is One of Three Finalists Selected from Ten Proposals

HANOVER, MD / ACCESSWIRE / September 18, 2015 / Brekford Corp. (OTC: BFDI), a leading public safety technology service provider of fully integrated automated traffic safety solutions, parking enforcement citation management and an end-to-end suite of technology equipment for public safety vehicle services, today announced the Company will participate in a 60-day pilot program for body worn camera technology with the City of Baltimore scheduled to start in late October.

Brekford is one of three companies who will participate in the pilot, expected to conclude in late December, followed by a 5-year contract award to the best solution in early 2016. The three companies, which also include Taser International, Inc. and Atlantic Tactical, Inc., were selected as the highest scoring finalists from an original pool of ten proposals. Key considerations during the pilot program will be technical capabilities of the hardware and software, pricing, and program management support. Brekford is the only Maryland-based company selected as a finalist.

“We are excited to participate in this pilot program with the City of Baltimore and to showcase the best body worn camera and video evidence management solution on the market,” commented Rod Hillman, President and Chief Operating Officer of Brekford Corp. “We have worked tirelessly with Panasonic and Microsoft, two of the largest and most respected technology companies in the world, to meet the City’s requirements for an integrated video evidence management solution. Brekford intends to exceed the City’s expectations with Panasonic’s Arbitrator BWC body camera and industry leading SafeServ Unified Evidence Management System, which has been operating successfully nationwide with police department in-car video capture systems for nearly a decade. Additionally, with Microsoft Azure, we will be providing the leading government cloud hosting solution, and the only major cloud service that is fully compliant with the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services (‘CJIS’) standards.”

C.B. Brechin, Brekford’s Chief Executive Officer, added “Brekford has provided public safety technology solutions to federal, state, and local agencies for nearly two decades. Our extensive history in partnering with industry giants such as Panasonic enables us to provide integrated solutions that meet the unique requirements of law enforcement clients, rather than promote a ‘one-size-fits-all’ technology like many of our competitors. We believe that our integrated body worn camera and evidence management solution, coupled with direct local support will be the best solution for the City of Baltimore, and we are excited for the opportunity to prove this during the upcoming pilot. If we are selected for the contract award, we are looking forward to working with the Mayor’s Office of Employee Development in bringing more jobs to Maryland and Baltimore City in the future.”

“There is one more subject I would like to address,” continued Mr. Brechin. “There have been numerous erroneous news reports and articles, some of which are beginning to recirculate with the recent selection announcement, regarding Brekford’s past relationship with the City of Baltimore. We embarked on a program to provide automated traffic safety enforcement services in 2013 which ended in a mutual termination agreement prior to full rollout of the project. Brekford spent nearly a full year and significant resources in attempting to replace a prior vendor, without the benefit of cooperation from that vendor during the process. While we acknowledge that some mistakes were made by Brekford during the transition, many news reports have inaccurately attributed numerous alleged errors made by the prior vendor to Brekford. Issues with the program prior to Brekford’s involvement occurred in a live operating environment, while certain ‘errors’ attributed to Brekford occurred during a testing and start-up phase, which is normal and expected with such large scale project implementations. Due to the difficulties associated with guaranteeing a ‘zero error’ program and other complex issues at the time, Brekford and the City mutually agreed that it would be in the best interest of both parties to amicably terminate the engagement. We have had a long-standing positive relationship with the City of Baltimore that continues to the present day and we intend to solidify that relationship by demonstrating the best body worn camera solution during the upcoming pilot program.”
