An online interview with publishing services consultant Lisa Akoury-Ross recently aired on Business Innovators Radio. The topic was the difference between self-publishing and professional self-publishing. Akoury-Ross launched SDP Publishing Solutions, LLC over twenty-five years ago to help authors professionally publish their work independently and cost effectively. After meeting with an author, SDP will assign two, and in some cases three different editors covering developmental editing, copy editing and proofreading. For certain projects, some editors can perform both the developmental editing and copy editing. Then the manuscript goes on to a proofreading editor. Lisa feels this is a big reason professionally self-published books turn out so much better than an author going it alone. Having multiple editors with different sets of eyes on a manuscript is critical to the final produced book.

The primary habitat of polar bears is sea ice. Due to global warming, temperatures in the Arctic are increasing at least two times as fast as the worldwide average. Aside from that, sea ice cover is shrinking by almost 4% per decade. The reductions in sea ice thickness and extent affect the ability of polar bears to find food. Polar bears eat ringed seals and get 2/3 of the energy they require for the whole year in early summer and late spring. With shorter periods of maximum sea ice extent, polar bears are given less time to hunt food and forced to go without food for a longer period of time.

The changes in sea ice structure and dynamics may differ in various areas of the Arctic, but all of these have a negative impact on the reproductive success and condition of polar bears and their kill. Sea ice in James Bay of Canada, for instance, now melts earlier in the spring and forms at a much later time in autumn.

The best season for polar bears is the time they have on ice. They can hunt fish and seals as well as restore their health and body fat, but this time for saving energy for the summer season when there’s little food and ice available is becoming shorter today. This can negatively affect the overall health and condition of polar bears. This is an alarming situation for pregnant or nursing bears as well as for the cubs. Young bears can die due to insufficient amount of fat on nursing mothers or lack of food.

Neon Alien Studios LLC hopes that through the mobile game they are currently developing, more people will be aware of global warming and the threats faced by polar bears because of it and that many will be encouraged to do their part in saving these animals and the planet as a whole.

This is a non-fiction book about Hughes journey from being a tormented and sexually abusive child to becoming an inspiration to others. The campaign goal is to raise $4,000 by April 24, 2016. 

This is the first time Dorthea will share her heartbreaking story of a long, difficult road to how she survived the abuse from her father and became the woman she is today. She hopes to start an out-loud discussion on a topic that only generates soft whispers behind closed doors. The project has an author and the manuscript is ready for publication. Hughes even accepted a publishing contract with a small independent press. However, a book surrounding such an important topic needs a bigger publisher that will bring the attention this project needs! 

In an ever-perfect world, the book will save children from going down a terrible path of destruction and bring awareness to this issue to protect our youths. According to Child Help, at least five children die from abuse and neglect every day! The ones who survive walk away with an everlasting scar in their hearts. This is an issue that needs to be spoken about. People need to learn the warning signs and what to do to stop the abuse from continuing. Dorthea hopes this book will bring a safe haven for abused children.

Although Hughes was lucky to survive such a horrific experience, not all children are as lucky! This is why she has also started the paperwork to create a Brighter Day Outreach Center Inc. A portion of the funds raised from the campaign will lay the foundation for the non-profit organization that aims to protect children who experience sexually and physically abused. Fifty percent of book sales will go to the foundation as well.

From Mortgage Meltdown to Building Wealth – Real Estate Investor and Educator Jason Lucchesi Featured on Influencers Radio

Jason Lucchesi, prominent real estate investor and trainer, was the featured guest on Influencers Radio show discussing how he jumped into real estate investing in the worst of times and now helps others succeed in it as well as he has.

The most recent recession of 2008 hurt everyone in one way or another, but none worse than those involved in the mortgage and housing industry. Jason Lucchesi was one of those in the sub-prime mortgage lending industry who had been riding high on his financial successes. When the housing industry collapsed, he quickly hit bottom financially, along with many of his colleagues.

Unlike many who stayed at the bottom, however, Lucchesi, once on the lending side of the equation, transferred into the buying and selling part of the housing equation. Having little money of his own to invest with, he quickly learned and perfected the strategies of using no money of his own to buy properties and then sell them at a quick profit.

Lucchesi explained the financial situation he found himself in and shared, “I tell people my back was not up against the drywall. I was through the drywall, through the studs. And I needed to do something – and it was real estate. I saw that as my avenue of being able to be the provider that was needed in the family. And I needed to do that in a hurry.”

He quickly got immersed in buying properties using a short sale strategy and then wholesaling those properties. Lucchesi explained that the market was flooded with investors who were severely over-leveraged with homes they had bought with 100% financing but which were now upside down in value. The market also included homeowners in that same situation.

According to Lucchesi, “I would do a short sale with the homeowner. They would be able to get out from underneath the property. I would already have the property under contract. And before I even spent any of my own money, because I didn’t have any, I already had a buyer lined up. Either it’d be a retail buyer that was getting financing from a mortgage company or an investor that was able to pick this property up for 50% of what it’s worth.”

He used a strategy called a same-day closing. He would buy the property in the morning using a short sale and then sell it at a higher price to a buyer at another closing in the afternoon, walking away with the profit.

The housing industry has improved since then, but many of the strategies Lucchesi has developed are working just as well, if not better in the current market. Jason Lucchesi now teaches others how to accomplish the same things he has, while continuing to practice what he preaches.
