New Mexico’s Best Alternative Newspaper Announces New Events Calendar

Albuquerque, United States of America – April 29, 2016 /PressCable/

The ABQ Free Press recently disclosed the company website has incorporated a new events calendar. The events calendar will help local Albuquerque residents to easily keep track of upcoming events and festivities in their communities. According to a spokesperson for the newspaper, the new events calendar will be an integral part of their long term plan.

“Our new events calendar will cover all the pertinent stuff that takes place in and around New Mexico,” says spokesperson Joshua Simpson. “Interested parties may also submit their events a month prior to publication, and we’re confident this will be a valuable resource for our readers and event organizers as well.”

Among the most notable upcoming scheduled events lined up is entitled Remnants: Photographs from the Disfarmer Studio. Scheduled to take place from March through June this year, the event takes a mesmerizing look into the material history of portraits acquired from the Mike Disfarmer studio. Though the photographer holds a posthumous fame, each photograph from his studio has a rich and storied life. This event allows guests a look at some of that rich history, from darkroom to museum archive. “This is a great event for art lovers and those fond of the history behind that art,” Simpson says.

Another exciting event showcased by the events calendar is the Lightning Speaks exhibit. The exhibit culminates on the 14th of May, exploring various ways in which visual and aural converge or diverge. Raven Chacon (of the Navajo Nation, AZ) is the focus of the exhibit, as he works with sound and image in complex ways. The exhibit will showcase both his own work as well as the work of collaborators.

“As you can see, the ABQ Free Press events calendar is all about keeping you updated,” Simpson says. “The calendar was created to help bring the community together as well. We’ve reasoned that if people had better access to the list of local events, they’d be more likely to attend those events and experience things that they otherwise would have missed. That’s why we’ve made it our goal to be sure that if something’s happening in New Mexico, you’ll be the first to know.” Visit the website at http://www.freeabq.com.

Constipation can be chronic, sometimes severe, and has a significant, even deliberating effect on the quality of life of a patient. Various treatment options are available for the treatment of constipation and patients often adopt different over-the-counter remedies for the same. There exist vast opportunities for prescription drugs in the constipation market. However, OTC drugs and laxatives are generally used for treating constipation, patients and physicians have started recognizing the importance of branded drugs. Future growth of the constipation market is based on continued growth of prescription therapies to treat constipation, increased research and development of novel drugs by biopharmaceutical companies, increasing patient and physician awareness of effective prescription alternatives to Over-the-Counter medications.

Growth of the constipation market is driven by several factors including rising prescription opioid consumption, growing ageing population, vast opportunity for drugs with significant potential in the U.S., rising spending on medicines, growing female population and rising healthcare expenditure. However, the growth of the market can be hindered by certain challenges including rising tide of OTC drugs for constipation and lower awareness of prescription medication for OIC.

Four Dallas Businesses Named GDBEA Honorees

GBDEA_logo.jpg

Dallas, 04/28/2016 /SubmitPressRelease123/

One Will Receive Inaugural Cary M. Maguire “Spirit of Ethics” Award
Four Dallas-based companies will be honored by the North Texas business community at the 16th Annual Greater Dallas Business Ethics Award (GDBEA) program Tuesday, May 17, at 11:30 a.m., at the Westin Galleria Hotel. The program is presented by Akin Gump, Better Business Bureau® serving Dallas and Northeast Texas and D CEO Magazine. The event is open to the public and tickets/tables are available at gdbea.org.
Of 30 companies nominated this year, the 2016 honorees are: Imprimis Group, Lone Star Analysis, Staffelbach, and UR Holdings.
GDBEA will also present the inaugural winner of the Cary M. Maguire “Spirit of Ethics” Award, which recognizes a company that demonstrates and champions above-and-beyond ethical practices. This new level of recognition is named for Dallas businessman, philanthropist and longtime GDBEA supporter Cary Maguire.
The keynote speaker for the program is Richard Bowen, identified by 60 Minutes and The Wall Street Journal as the Citigroup whistleblower who repeatedly warned Citi executive management about risky business practices and potential losses related to mortgage lending prior to 2008.
The Greater Dallas Business Ethics Award recognizes local companies that have made a commitment to ethical business practices and demonstrate that commitment in their everyday operations, management philosophies, and in response to crises or challenges.
A panel of judges, representing academia, business and previous award winners, reviewed submissions containing nominee companies’ ethics policies, programming, communications and review practices. A team of students from the Posey Leadership Institute at Austin College conducted site visits and interviews with the entrants. A Better Business Bureau review and qualifying rating of B+ or above is also a standing requirement for all entrants. Subsequently, the panel convened to determine those whose entries demonstrated a superior standard of ethics in action.

Zofran Lawsuit Update: Plaintiffs Question Why GSK Hasn’t Faced Stiffer Penalties

April 29, 2016 – – ZofranLegal.com reports that, as plaintiffs learn more about the defendant named in the more than 230 lawsuits, they are beginning to question why the company hasn’t suffered harsher penalties in the past.

These plaintiffs are all alleging that an unborn child developed a birth defect after the mother was prescribed the anti-nausea medication Zofran as a treatment for morning sickness. They also claim that GlaxoSmithKline, the makers of the drug, marketed the drug unlawfully for “off-label” use, failed to inform the medical community of potential side effects, and didn’t perform the necessary safety testing before informing doctors and the public that Zofran was “safe” for pregnant women.

The drug has been available via prescription since 1991. While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration did approve the drug, their label indicates that it should be given to patients who are suffering from nausea and vomiting after undergoing treatments involving chemotherapy, radiation, and anesthesia. The FDA did not approve the drug as a treatment for morning sickness.

Plaintiffs are claiming that the drug caused cleft lip, cleft palate, atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, respiratory distress syndrome, ear deformities, and kidney defects.

This isn’t the first time the company has faced a lawsuit regarding one of its drugs. Between the years of 1991 and 2005, the company has paid nearly $8 billion dollars in settlements to the federal government. While this number may seem very high, it pales in comparison to the amount the company has made in profits off of their products. Many have wondered if higher amounts in settlement payments would prevent the company from making decisions which could potentially cause thousands of people harm.

The attorneys at Monheit Law are currently offering complimentary consultations to anyone who believes their unborn child developed a birth defect due to Zofran. For more information, contact Michael Monheit at 877-620-8411.

Louisville Kitchen & Bathroom Remodeling Company Savvy Home Supply Launches Online Digital Showroom with Thousands of Products by Leading Brands

April 29, 2016 – Savvy Home Supply, a locally-owned kitchen and bathroom remodeling company based in Louisville, Kentucky, is excited to introduce a fully interactive digital showroom on their website. The digital showroom (http://showroom.savvyhomesupply.com) allows visitors to shop thousands of products for kitchen and bath remodels by leading brands, from a desktop, smartphone or tablet.

Products in the Savvy digital showroom include: faucets, sinks, lighting, vanities, toilets, shower doors, bathtubs, medicine cabinets, mirrors, kitchen and bath accessories, and much more. And the brands represented are continually updated, and currently include: American Standard, Blanco, Brizo, Danz, Delta, Feiss, SeaGull Lighting, Toto, Rev-A-Shelf and many others.

Savvy Home Supply President Jon Hobson thought adding a digital showroom to the website would be great for customers and for his design and sales team. “Having many of our favorite products featured in one convenient online location makes the planning involved in the kitchen and bath remodeling process so much easier. And the featured products and electronic catalogs are being revised and updated every day so that visitors can learn about the latest products much more quickly than in a typical showroom setting.”

Visitors can browse the Savvy product selection based on a variety of factors including: brand, price, color, and style (ranging from contemporary, modern, traditional and transitional). For example, hundreds of faucets are divided into 8 categories: bar sinks, bathrooms, commercial, kitchens, laundry sinks, pot fillers, tub fillers and water dispensers. And they are also sorted by color to include tones in: black, brass, bronze, brown, chrome, copper, gold, nickel, steel, white, no finish and “other.” Shoppers can sort by price, item number, and best-selling items in order to select just the right products for a fine kitchen or luxury bath remodel.

While shopping for kitchen and bath products in the Savvy digital showroom, customers organize their favorite items into easy-to-create “wish lists” which can be printed, emailed and shared with others. For more information, visit the Savvy Home Supply website or call 502-241-9969 to speak with a design consultant.
