The man states that he had just arrived at work on April 23, 2016, with his e-cigarette device in his pocket. He indicates that he heard, “…this hissing noise, kind of like a air can, a shooting noise.” He also states that as soon as he was able to look down, the battery was already on fire on the floor, and so was he. The news source stated that “A failed lithium-ion battery left him blistered and damaged. He had to have surgery and spend four days in a hospital bed.” The man noted that they used skin grafts from cadavers to help repair his wounds.

Unfortunately, he is not the only person who has made recent news alleging that they have been the victim of an e-cigarette explosion. A California man reports having lost his eye after a very similar incident with his e-cigarette. He, too, expressed shock at the occurrence, indicating that he had no idea an e-cigarette device could cause such damage.

The family has reportedly launched a fundraising page online to help cover the costs of his medical care, and the teen has since posted his gratitude on social media, stating, “Tears coming to my eyes in reality of everything that’s happened but mostly how many people are here for me in support and love. Life is a very precious thing and I am more than grateful to still have mine. I want to thank every single individual person that’s done anything to help my recovery process.”

Unfortunately, many believe that as e-cigarette use becomes increasingly popular, these types of incidents are occurring more frequently as well. What: On Wednesday, May 25th, Cobblestone Auto Spa is joining the efforts of Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Memorial Fund to host a charity car wash and raise money for fallen Phoenix Police Officer David Glasser, who was tragically killed in the line of duty. Officer Glasser, a ten-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department, was killed while responding to a burglary in progress in Laveen on May 18. Officer Glasser is survived by his wife and two children.

A free car wash fundraiser event will be held at Cobblestone Auto Spa’s Phoenix location at 3739 E. Bell Rd. in Phoenix. Anyone who donates $5 or more will receive a free Full Service Basic Wash. In addition, members of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand volunteering and showing their support.

Furthermore, all Cobblestone Auto Spa locations will accept donations to the Memorial Fund on May 25th, and anyone who donates $3 or more will receive a free Exterior-Only Wash at all Valley locations.

100 percent of all car wash donations will directly benefit the MCSO Memorial Fund to support the family of fallen Officer David Glasser.
