Kevin Cortright, Attorney in Palm Springs, Appears on KMIR Desert Living for Interview About New Fender Bender App

May 31, 2016 – – fender bender in palm springsThe Law Offices of Kevin Cortright appears every week on KMIR Channel 4 for a live broadcast about legal issues that affect those living in the Palm Springs area. Bryan Gallo interviews Kevin in a four minute feature every Friday at 11:30am pacific time. Tune in, or watch episodes later directly on www.cortrightlaw.com.

Bryan Gallo interviews Kevin Cortright about the new app that Cortright Law has for both Apple and Android phones that helps those that have been involved in a fender bender or car accident at the scene as well as after. Kevin talks about how technology can help in a situation like a fender bender or car accident by streamlining the documentation process.

The pair speak about how the app walks those involved through the steps of documenting a car accident, it asks for pictures, videos, address, other party information, etc. It then can help those in the accident to locate tow trucks, taxicabs, and even local police stations. Kevin states that the app aids in walking people through that are otherwise stressed and possibly uneducated in the proper steps after being involved in an accident.

The most important part of this app however is the reporting system that is attached to Kevin Cortright’s law office. The information that is input will immediately be reported to the office, therefore the process becomes even easier in involving a lawyer.

fender bender in palm springsLastly, Kevin and Bryan speak about what information can be entered after the accident, which includes any expenses due to the accident such as doctors expenses, lost time from work, car repairs, etc.

The app can be downloaded directly at www.cortrightlaw.com by scrolling down and clicking on the download link, or by going to iPhone app store or the Google app store for Android and searching Kevin Cortright. Kevin suggests downloading the app immediately, before a car accident or fender bender occurs. This way, those that experience an accident can be prepared if the situation does occur.

Xarelto Lawsuit Filings Continue As Alternative Blood Clot Prevention Is Made Available

May 31, 2016 – – TheProductLawyers.com reports on Xarelto and the ongoing controversy surrounding the drug. When Xarelto was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2011, it was a widely popular blood-thinning treatment. The blood thinner drug is now, however, the focus of investigations that are looking into its initial approval stages and whether integral data obtained during clinical trials was omitted when information was sent to reputable medical journals.

In addition to these latest allegations related to the clinical trials, Xarelto is also currently at the heart of over 3,000 lawsuits, with 2,800 of these being federally-filed lawsuits consolidated by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) to form MDL 2592 under the oversight of a Federal Judge in Eastern Louisiana. In Philadelphia, PA, the Court of Common Pleas has consolidated another 600 or more cases into a mass tort program. There is an expectation that the numbers of cases in both of these groups will increase in the future.

Plaintiffs in these cases are alleging that the manufacturers of the drug, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary company of the Johnson and Johnson Corporation, and Bayer AG, purposefully and intentionally misled the public about the drug in its public media campaign to promote its sale. The plaintiffs also claim that Xarelto is dangerous in that it can cause instances of severe and sometimes fatal uncontrollable bleeding.

Given the swirling controversy over Xarelto and other blood-thinning drugs, it is likely that many people will be looking to alternative therapies such as those promoted by Vascular PRN. Vascular PRN distributes a pneumatic compression device that uses alternating compression to improve blood flow and prevent clots in those patients recovering from surgery or those who are immobile such as nursing home patients. Vascular PRN offers a blood clot therapy without the risks such as those that exist with anticoagulants.

The attorneys of Banville Law, the firm behind TheProductLawyers.com, are offering complimentary consultations to anyone who suffered injury or hospitalization after a bleed while on Xarelto. For more information about this release or the Xarelto litigation call 888-997-3792.

Los Angeles Man Files E-Cig Lawsuit Against Seller, Maker Of E-Cigarette After Explosion Injures Him

May 31, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on a Los Angeles man who is suing the manufacturer and seller of his e-cigarette after it exploded in his pocket, causing serious injuries. CBS Los Angeles said the man had been in a friend’s hotel room when he felt a burning sensation on his leg. He was able to push the burning device down through his pant leg and onto the floor after he realized he had been burned and that the battery in the device had caught fire. Once the cigarette was on the floor, it began to spark, leaving a burn mark on the hotel carpet, the report said. The man claimed he suffered second and third-degree burns on his thumbs and left leg.

This is not the first incident involving exploding e-cigarettes to take place in California. In February, NBC reported that a 26-year-old Orange County man suffered second and third-degree burns when his device went up in flames in his pocket. He spent 11 days in the hospital and doctors told him his leg would take two years to heal, according to the report.

In cases where lithium ion batteries explode, the devices typically spew hot liquid and can sometimes shoot pieces of shrapnel at high speeds as a result of the building heat from the battery. In those cases, the liquid can cause serious burns to users or others and in some cases start fires that spread. The shrapnel that has sometimes been ejected from the device can also cause serious injury.

In addition to these cases, other incidents have also been reported in the U.K. and in states including Utah, Florida, New York, Colorado, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Texas, Oregon and Louisiana. As cases continue to accumulate, Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman are looking to assist those who have been affected by explosive e-cigarettes. Attorneys such as Marc Freund are working to ensure that those individuals who have been injured by the devices are able to explore their legal rights fully. Certain individuals may be entitled to financial compensation. Attorney Freund is currently offering free consultations to anyone who has been injured by the devices.

Alternative Treatments Available As Xarelto Lawsuit Filings Increase

May 31, 2016 – – TheProductLawyers.com reports on the controversy swirling about Xarelto, a blood-thinning drug developed by Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a Johnson and Johnson division, and Bayer AG, and approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2011. There have been in excess of 3,000 lawsuits filed, with 2,800 federal cases being consolidated by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) under the jurisdiction of a federal court judge in the Eastern District of Louisiana. Additionally, 600 more lawsuits were consolidated by the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia, PA. Expectations are that the number of cases will increase even further.

The lawsuits have come from all parts of the United States. Plaintiffs claim that the drug is dangerous in that it allegedly causes sudden and sometimes fatal uncontrollable bleeding and many feel that the manufacturers misled the public in its marketing campaign to promote the blood-thinning drug.

More disturbing news has emerged related to the clinical trials for the drug where investigations have begun that are questioning data that was possibly omitted related to a faulty blood testing device when clinical trial results were forwarded to highly respected medical journals.

In light of extensive legal action and the faulty clinical trial device and data that may have given Xarelto a better result than it should have gotten, some members of the public are looking to alternative therapies such as Vascular PRN distributes.

As per an article from SBWire, Greg Grambor, the President of Vascular PRN provides alternative therapies to traditional blood thinners such as Xarelto, with pneumatic compression devices, that offer protection from blood clots without dangerous risks characteristic to Xarelto and other anticoagulant drugs.

Grambor has recently stated that with cases of embolism pneumatic compression is a great prevention alternative, as it improves the flow of blood in the limbs of patients who are immobile due to surgical procedures or for those nursing home residents that cannot move around much.

Construction Accident Lawyer Comments On OSHA’s Investigation Into A Worker’s Death

May 31, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Tom J. Moverman has commented on a recent construction accident in Niskayuna, NY which left the family of one worker grieving.

On March 13th, 2016, a construction worker was working on the roof of an apartment building on Alice Wagner Way when he fell several stories. His co-workers immediately called for help. The injured employee was first taken by ambulance to General Electric Hospital and then flown by helicopter to Albany Medical Center where, despite his doctor’s best efforts, he passed away.

OSHA has announced that they are investigating the accident, including a review of three separate employers, Hernandez Framing Inc. who had hired the victim, Rankin Construction National Builders who is the project’s general manager, and Ballston Mourningkill Associates LLC. They are trying to determine if acceptable workplace standards were in place or if there were violations on the construction site which may have caused the accident. The administration has already determined that the victim was, in fact, wearing a safety harness, although it has not been proven that the harness was properly secured. OSHA has six months to complete their investigation.

Mr. Moverman is very familiar with the dangers that construction workers face in New York every day. He has noted that this accident reminded him of a case in which he was able to obtain $3,000,000 in compensation on behalf of his client, a construction worker who fell from a roof because of an unsecured ladder. Thankfully, Mr. Moverman’s client survived the fall, however, he sustained injuries which required four separate surgeries to correct and continues to experience physical discomfort as a result. With his experienced construction accident attorney’s assistance, the plaintiff was able to show that his fall occurred because his employer had violated several safety standards

The attorneys at Lipsig, Shapey, Manus, & Moverman, P.C. have been representing New York’s injured construction workers since the firm was established in 1989. To learn more about the legal options available to an injured worker, contact an attorney at (646) 846-4496.

Concord Man Files E-Cig Lawsuit After Being Injured By E-Cigarette Explosion

May 31, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on a New Hampshire man who is filing a lawsuit after an e-cigarette exploded in his pocket causing second and third-degree burns in February. The New Hampshire Union Leader reported in February that the 26-year-old suffered injuries in January after his device exploded inside his pants pocket. The lithium battery in the devices exploded, tearing his pants and burning his leg, according to the article. The lawsuit claims store employees installed the battery and assembled the vapor cigarette for the man.

Similar incidents have become more frequent recently, with explosions reported in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Colorado, New York, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Utah, and Oregon over the past few months. Another incident that was reported in Oklahoma left a teen with serious burns when the lithium battery in his e-cigarette reacted with coins in his pocket and set the device off like a firework. According to FEMA, about 80 percent of e-cigarette explosions occur while the devices are charging, while a handful have reportedly exploded while in use or while in a user’s pocket.

When the devices explode, it is usually due to the e -cigarette’s lithium ion battery overheating. The buildup of heat causes small pieces of the device to become projectile and hot liquid to spew from the device. In several cases, the explosions have caused serious burns and other injuries in addition to starting fires that have spread.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman are currently looking to assist those who have been affected by explosive e-cigarettes. Attorneys such as Marc Freund are working to ensure that those individuals who have been injured by the devices are able to explore their legal rights fully. Certain individuals may be entitled to financial compensation. Attorney Freund is currently offering free consultations to anyone who has been injured by the devices.

Construction Accident Lawyer Believes Fines Are Not Enough

May 31, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports that one of their partners, Tom Moverman, has stated that he does not believe the fines which can be imposed by OSHA on negligent construction company employers are enough to make them think twice about violating safety standards. He does, however, think that the more often employers are forced to pay compensation to injured employees who have filed a personal injury complaint, the less likely they will be to allow unsafe practices on the job site continue.

Mr. Moverman spoke about a recent report in which OSHA cited a siding company not only for four serious safety violations but also four repeat serious citations. Each of these citations was in response to an accident in which a worker was injured in a fall. Additionally, the company was cited for failing to make sure that employees wore proper eye protection, for not requiring them to wear hard hats, and for the improper use of a self-supporting ladder.

Whenever someone suffers serious injuries or is the victim of a fatal accident at their job, OSHA performs an investigation to determine if the accident could have been prevented. If they find that there was a violation, the administration can fine the responsible party and even shut down a worksite. None of these actions, however, provide compensation to the victim or their family.

The attorneys at Lipsig, Shapey, Manus, & Moverman, P.C. have been representing injured construction workers since 1989 and has successfully obtained compensation for thousands of clients. While a fine of several thousands dollars from OSHA may be brushed off by an employer, a verdict of $20,000,000 like the one obtained on the behalf of a recent client is more likely to make a lasting impression.

To learn more about the legal options available to New York’s injured workers, contact an attorney today at (646) 846-4496.
