IVC Filter Lawsuit Case Total Increases, As Northwestern Medicine Explores Various Available Devices

July 18, 2016 – – TheProductLawyers.com reports on the various types of IVC (Inferior Vena Cava) filters that are currently available to patients, who cannot take an anticoagulant drug. Northwestern Medicine indicated that there are two types of filters available to individuals who cannot use blood thinners and are at an increased risk for blood clots. Patients may select permanent filters when there is a permanent intolerance of anticoagulant drugs, however, for those with a temporary complication to anticoagulant drugs, there are retrievable filters available that can be removed after they’ve served their purpose.

Patients have publicly claimed that they have been afflicted with severe complications, as a result of their IVC filters, including filter fracture, device migration, and even difficulty removing the device. In some cases, patients have suffered from embolization, which is when the entire filter or broken pieces of the filter are relocated in the lungs or heart, at times puncturing vital organs. Patients also claim that the defunct devices may cause future health complications because migrated devices or filter fragments are likely unable to be removed from the body.

There have been a large number of IVC filter lawsuit cases filed against C.R. Bard and Cook Medical, which manufacture the devices, often times pointing out the devices alleged design flaws and lack of adequate warnings. A Multidistrict Litigation was consolidated against Cook Medical in the Southern District of Indiana (No. 2570). C.R. Bard has also seen hundreds of patients file lawsuits for similar allegations, and since, a multitude of cases has been consolidated into an MDL in Arizona (No. 2461), originally stemming from cases filed in 2012 in California, and Pennsylvania.

For more information on IVC filters, to ask questions or to schedule a consultation, contact an attorney at Banville Law at any time by calling (888) 997-3792.

whitelogo2.png

Denver, CO, 07/18/2016 /SubmitPressRelease123/

Fat Jack’s Subs has announced it will open a new LoHi store just one block from the eatery’s previous location.

Earlier this year, Fat Jack’s Subs was one of nine businesses to learn it would have to vacate Dickenson Plaza to make way for a new development going into that location. Fat Jack’s owners Kyle and Brooke Fabra went to work immediately, researching a new space for their store. Within a few weeks, the Fabras were able to sign a lease for its new LoHi spot at 3326 Tejon Street, which is next door to Western Daughters Butcher Shoppe.

“We have been busy with the opening of our newest store on 4th and Broadway, but we knew if we could also remain in the LoHi neighborhood, we would be able to work with a community we’ve really enjoyed getting to know,” said Kyle Fabra. “Every neighborhood has its own personality, and we are happy we could reopen where we have such great people for customers,” said Fabra.

The official opening for Fat Jack’s in LoHi will be July 19. In May, Fat Jacks announced it will open its seventh location on the Auraria Campus. Part of a new concept for the restaurant, it also will offer Little Man Ice Cream by the scoop, Cinnaholic Gourmet Cinnamon Rolls (100% Vegan), and a yet-to-be-named provider of organic/fair trade drip coffee.

Each Fat Jack’s location employs at least 15 individuals. You can check out their menu, which features fresh ingredients, at www.fatjackssubs.com.

About Fat Jack’s Supersubs:

Originally founded in 2000, Fat Jack’s was acquired by Kyle and Brooke Fabra in 2012. Fat Jack’s has locations in LoHi, Capitol Hill, Lowery, Stapleton, Five Points, and on Broadway between the West Washington Park and Baker neighborhoods. For more information visit www.fatjackssubs.com.

Albany E-Cig Explosion Update: Victim Files E-Cigarette Explosion Lawsuit

July 18, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on the alleged cause of e-cigarette explosions as per the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). FEMA has recently identified that the likely cause of e-cigarette explosions is a defective lithium-ion battery that is used to power and charge the units. The agency believes that the core of the lithium-ion battery carried a potential to have an energy overload which could cause an explosion. In some instances, fires have also accompanied the explosions, causing serious property damage and personal injury.

While explosions have occurred in many places, there have been 6 explosions in New York since 2009, with the most recent one occurring on May 19th. In a news report made by WTVR.com, an Albany resident was using his e-cig when it allegedly exploded in his face causing serious physical damage including knocked out teeth, a punctured tongue and severe burns to his hands. After the incident, WTVR.com reports that the victim could still speak but his speech was much muffled. In a follow-up report made by an Albany NBC affiliate station, WNYT.com, it was stated that the victim filed a lawsuit. The report also indicated that the man’s lawyer suspects that the cause of the explosion was related to a defect in the lithium-ion battery.

It should be noted that the first instance of an exploding e-cigarette in the state occurred in Brooklyn at the Kings Plaza Mall at a kiosk when a 14-year old boy sustained severe burns and lost vision in his left eye while testing out an e-cig. This episode happened in May. The father of the victim has filed a lawsuit and has hired Attorney Marc Freund of LipsigLawyers.com to represent him and his son.

Attorney Freund recently commented on the Albany case as well. He extended best wishes to the victim. He hopes his lawsuit is successful and that he makes a full recovery from his injuries.

To ask questions or request additional information on e-cigarette explosions, please contact Attorney Marc Freund of Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman by calling 877-711-9545.

Jewish Family Services Partners With Jewish Family Home Health Care

Jewish Family Services Partners With Jewish Family Home Health Care

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 07/18/2016 /SubmitPressRelease123/

Let’s face it- today’s seniors are amazing- they are living longer, working harder, and truly valuing their independence. It is no wonder that today’s seniors want to remain in their homes as they continue to age.

An AARP survey conducted in 2012 found that one in every five seniors over the age of 65 in the United States are still employed part or full time.

While income is one of the top reasons given for this statistic, even more commonly reported is seniors continue to work simply because they enjoy it and value their time spent being productive. According to a 2013 Survey by the National Council on Aging, United Healthcare, and USA Today, seniors tend to have a positive outlook on their futures and are also confident that they can maintain a high quality of life for years to come. On the same note, the 2012 AARP survey found that 90% of all seniors intend to continue to live in their homes for the next five to ten years.

However, these independent seniors are running into problems in their day-to- day lives. According to the AARP survey, only 43% of seniors over 70 report living independently is easy, and 13% report that it is difficult for them to accomplish daily tasks without the help of a caregiver. This is hard for fiercely independent seniors who enjoy living on their own and working for the joy of it.

Seniors want to live independently, safely and with dignity, but they also want to get through each day safely and successfully.

While this may seem like a predicament, there is a simple fix. In-home care providers offer a solution that more and more seniors and their families are turning to. Jewish Family Home Care, a non-profit organization established in August 1995, is now providing home care to 650 clients.

Jewish Family Home Care offers the seniors of Broward County a wide variety of in-home caregiving services in order to live independently, safely and with dignity. All caregivers at Jewish Family Home Care are screened, insured, and trained. Kindness, compassion, and dependability are all basic requirements to work for this company.

With over 400 caregivers, Jewish Family Home Care makes it a priority to match each individual senior with a caregiver that meets his or her unique physical, mental, and emotional needs. Whether your loved one needs a health aid, CNA, companion or homemaker, Jewish Family Home Care has the caregiver to fit the position and match the personality.

Regular re-evaluations to meet the changing needs and preferences of seniors as they age are an integrated part of every service Jewish Family Home Care offers. Short and long-term care options are available, and should your loved one have to move into a facility or spend time in a hospital, services can be provided there as well.

Dignity at every age and ability is integral to the philosophy and practice of Jewish Family Home Care.

How to Properly Optimize Your Press Releases for Search Engines and Get Editorial Links in the Future?

How to Properly Optimize Your Press Releases for Search Engines and Get Editorial Links in the Future

Imagine yourself as a journalist or a blogger looking for a reference article to make his write-up appear authoritative and credible.  Where do you think he will go to look for information that can help him validate his writings?

These days, journalists and bloggers use search engines among others to look for reference sources for the topic or issue they are assigned to cover.  If you are not putting efforts in optimizing your press releases for search engines, then it’s now high time you take a closer look at the potentials and long lasting effect it can bring not only in boosting your site’s traffic but also in your reputation as an authority in your niche.

It’s Not Just About the Present

Publishing and distributing your press releases are default processes to reach your customers and target audience who need to know the latest story about your company.  But, press releases are not only limited to what is currently going on with your establishment.

You can publish press releases that can still be relevant even a few years from now.  These press releases are called “green articles”.  They are the ones that feature factual data and statistics from studies and researches you do in your industry.  These are the ones that are picked up by journalists and bloggers.  They mostly use these data to support their claims and to make their articles appear relevant and credible.

For example, if you are a Social Media company, publishing press releases like below might be the one that you often do.

  • ABC Social Media Company Launches New Twitter Management Tool for Small Business
  • XYZ Social Media Firm Expands Operation in New Jersey

The examples above are news releases that are time sensitive, but they are not that useful overtime especially if you are aiming to garner editorial links.  The following are example of “green articles” that you can publish as press releases that have lasting value and relevance even after a decade.

  • ABC Social Media Company Research Reveals How Netizens Use Social Media to Improve their Lifestyles
  • XYZ Social Media Firm Study Shows the Impact of Social Networking Sites to Globalization

These examples can be used by any writers especially journalists and bloggers as their references if they are going to write in-depth coverage about Social Media.  The question now is, can they find these articles easily if they search them using search engines?

How to Make Your Press Releases Visible in Search Engines?

What you need to do now to make your press releases more discoverable in the future when journalists will look for them using search engines?

First, you need to prioritize those press releases that can be categorized as “green articles” and optimize them for big search engines.  This will ensure that every time a journalist searches for your data, it will appear on top of the SERPs (search engine result pages), increasing the chances of having them being picked up.

Second, when optimizing your press releases, make sure you focus on what are the possible keywords or search queries journalists will use when they search for your data online.  A keyword research is needed to do this properly.

Third, make sure that your contact information is up to date.  It is crucial that the journalist who is going to use your press release can easily connect with you if they need more additional data.  This can also help you gain more citations if they can interview you and mention your name and company in their write-ups.

Fourth, distribute and syndicate your press releases on high authority news website so that no matter what will happen, copies of it would remain published somewhere, thus improving the chances of being seen in the future whether your website’s server is down or not.  Press release distribution companies such as Submit Press Release 123 can help you syndicate your press releases on high authority news websites.

Using your press releases as a dynamic component of your marketing and branding campaign can become more effective if you optimize them for search engines.  Those editorial links that you can get from news articles (and blogs) can help improve the overall online visibility of your business and at the same time help you establish a more authoritative and stronger brand.

How about you? Have you been publishing “green articles” as part of your press releases? Have you garnered editorial links from them? Share your experience in the comment section below.

IVC Filter Lawsuit Plaintiffs Claim Devices Have Potential To Migrate To Vital Organs, Causing Life-Threatening Health Risks

July 18, 2016 – – TheProductLawyers.com outlines several allegations from IVC filter lawsuit plaintiffs, stemming from events cited in other filed lawsuits. Some plaintiffs allege that the devices within their body migrated, and traveled away from its original insertion point, moving towards vital organs like the heart and or lungs. Traditional IVC filters in the past were made of titanium, or steel, however, nowadays popular filters are made with other metal alloys. Current filters tend to adjust shape in colder temperatures, therefore, in several cases patients claim that their filters detached from the vena cava traveling upward towards their pulmonary artery.

In one such case, according to Michigan’s William Beaumont Hospital, a local 54-year-old IVC filter patient suffered from an abnormally rapid heart rate and was assessed with non-q-wave myocardial infarction, which is a less serious form of heart attack. Reportedly, this adverse event stemmed from filter migration, as the man’s IVC filter had shifted into the right ventricle of his heart and caused detrimental damage. Common symptoms of IVC filter migration are chest pain, fainting, abnormal heart rhythms and palpitations.

The devices were initially constructed to capture blood clots, and minimize the risk of a clot reaching a patient’s’ vital organs. As of late, the devices have been under heavy public scrutiny, mainly due to the multitude of patients alleging that their IVC filters have caused devastating side effects. Many plaintiff allegations include the claim that device manufacturers knowingly released defunct IVC filters, and have continued to produce the devices, despite increased reports of adverse side effects.

A wide array of patients have recently filed lawsuits against IVC filter manufacturers, Cook Medical and C.R. Bard, claiming that the 2 companies were aware of the potential consequences of their devices, yet continuously manufactured and sold them. Thus far, there have been two Multidistrict Litigations (MDL) consolidated in the U.S, both of which are progressing towards bellwether trials. One MDL was formed in Arizona (No.2641) which names C.R. Bard as the defendant in all suits and a second in the Southern District of Indiana (No. 2570) names Cook Medical as the defendant.

For more information on IVC filters, to ask questions or to schedule a consultation, contact an attorney at Banville Law by calling (888) 997-3792.

Several E-Cig Explosions Reported In New York, As Victim Files E-Cigarette Explosion Lawsuit

July 18, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on e-cigarette explosions and the number of lawsuits filed in New York focused on them. There have been 6 explosions in the state since 2009, and the most recent one occurred on May 19th. The e-cig a victim was using allegedly exploded in his face resulting in burns to his hands, the loss of several teeth and a hole being punctured into his tongue, as per a news story by WTVR.com. It was additionally reported that while the victim could speak, he spoke with a muffled voice. In a subsequent story by WNYT.com, a local NBC affiliate in the Albany area, it was reported that the victim had filed a lawsuit on June 22nd in which his lawyer stated that the explosion was most likely caused by a defective lithium-ion battery.

It should be noted that the first explosion in New York State occurred on April 5th when a Brooklyn youth was holding an e-cig that subsequently blew up in his face. The 14-year old suffered severe burns and lost vision in his left eye as a result of the explosion that occurred at the Kings Plaza Mall at a kiosk station. The victim has since filed a lawsuit and has retained the services of LipsigLawyers.com’s Marc Freund to represent him.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has stated that the agency believes the cause of the explosions is due to defective lithium-ion batteries. As per FEMA, the batteries have the potential to overload with energy. The overload of energy can cause an explosion which has ignited fires in several instances.

Attorney Marc Freund of Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman is looking to assist victims of e-cigarette explosions to assist them in exploring their legal options. Those who believe they have been harmed by an e-cigarette are greatly encouraged to explore their legal options in the matter, as they may be entitled to significant compensation. To better assist individuals who wish to investigate their rights more fully, Attorney Freund is now offering free legal consultations to qualified parties.

After DA Requests Strict Sentencing In Construction Death, Personal Injury Lawyer Comments

July 18, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman commented last month on the District Attorney’s move to request strict sentencing for a New York construction company after one of the company’s workers was killed. Moverman said the request is not unreasonable and that construction companies should be held accountable when workers are killed or injured because of unnecessary shortcomings.

The Real Deal stated in a report early last month that 22 groups, which include Manhattan D.A. Cyrus Vance and the Building Trades union, are asking a New York judge for the maximum sentence to Harco Construction on charges related to a construction worker’s death last year at a Meatpacking District work site.

More than 20 percent of all work-related fatalities in 2013 were employed in the construction industry and one in five of the 4,821 reported fatalities in 2014 were also in the construction industry, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Injuries such as lacerations, bruising, broken or fractured bones and sometimes spinal or brain injuries can often be a result of these accidents as well.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman has been representing victims of construction accidents for years. They have successfully obtained millions in settlements for those victims and strongly believe in fighting for the compensation victims need and deserve. In one case, Attorney Thomas Moverman won a victim $2.6 million for a worker who injured his knee and back in a fall from defective scaffolding.

“My clients’ lives and families are the most important aspect of what I do. I hope the lawsuits that I bring and the results I obtain will allow them to try to restore themselves both physically and personally,” said Moverman of the firm’s efforts.

The firm is currently looking to assist those individuals who have been injured in a construction accident.Certain individuals may be entitled to significant financial compensation.

For more information on construction injuries, or for a free consultation, contact an attorney with Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman at (646)-846-4496.
