Semis Used To Transport Nuclear Weapons

Dallas, 03/30/2017 /SubmitPressRelease123/

Texas truck accident attorneys of 1800-Truck-Wreck explains, “The current administration has stated it plans to expand the country’s nuclear weapons cache by upgrading the arsenal by $1 trillion over the next 15 years. With a nuclear weapons transport fleet that is already short-staffed and overworked, it’s troubling to think about adding more shipments and more routes.”

When you share the highway with semi-trucks, there is always a risk of being involved in a serious or life-threatening accident. Semis can weigh up to 80,000 pounds, which means they do a lot more damage in a crash compared to a regular car.

Now, a new report sheds light on a semi-related danger few people know about. According to a Los Angeles Times article, a fleet of semi-trucks is responsible for transporting nuclear weapons across the country.

The Office of Secure Transportation

The report states that the “covert fleet” is part of a division of the U.S. Department of Energy known as the Office of Secure Transportation. The report also states that the department is “so cloaked in secrecy that few people outside the government know it exists.”

This mysterious fleet of semi-trucks may sound like something out of a Harry Potter movie, but it is very real. Furthermore, investigators report that the fleet is understaffed and overworked, which could be making the roads more dangerous for everyone.

Moving Nuclear Weapons by Semi-Truck

Tasked with moving nuclear weapons and their parts between military bases and weapons facilities located around the country, including Texas, the trucks within the Office of Secure Transportation cover about 3 million miles each year.

Reporters conducted an investigation that revealed the fleet is understaffed, falling nearly 50 drivers short from its goal. As a result, more than a third of the truck drivers who transport the nuclear weapons put in more than 900 hours of overtime each year. The Energy Department has said this overtime contributes to “a breakdown in morale and rapid turnover.”

A 2010 inquiry also found widespread alcohol problems among the fleet’s workers, including 16 alcohol-related incidents over a three-year span. An agent was arrested for public intoxication in 2007, and the agency’s top executive was charged with drunk driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .15% in 2009.

If you have been injured in a semi-truck accident, or you have lost a loved one in a tractor-trailer collision, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries and other losses. Don’t wait to speak to an attorney. Call an experienced Texas truck accident lawyer as soon as possible to discuss your case.

Addiction Treatment Center on How To Deal With Opiate Addicts In Your Family

New Jersey, 03/24/2017 /SubmitPressRelease123/

Most people fail to realize just how hard it can be to live around a drug user. When a person is in the throes of addiction, they will usually only care about getting their next fix. Over time, this type of self-centered behavior will affect a family greatly. When a family is dealing with a relative who is chemically dependent on opiates, their main concern is usually getting them the treatment they need. While treating opiate addiction is no easy task, the pain and struggle that a person may endure to overcome their addiction will be well worth it in the end. Summit Behavioral Health, a NJ addiction treatment center outlines below some of the things a family will need to remember when trying to deal with an opiate dependent person.

No Negative Enabling

Among the biggest problems a family dealing with opiate abuse will have is so-called “negative enabling.” If one family member is only concerned with keeping their loved one happy, they will usually give in and allow them to spend their money on the drugs they need. The only thing this type of enabling will do is lead to the addict eventually overdosing.

While saying no to your loved one can be hard, you will have to stand your ground. If a person is hooked on opiates, they will usually go through painful withdrawals if they do not get their daily dose. While it may be hard for you to see your loved one in such pain, you will need to refuse giving them money and instead offer to take them to treatment. For most families, the stress that comes with constantly worrying about the well-being of the opiate drug abuser can take a physical and emotional toll on them.

Outside Support is a Must

Some families try to keep the fact that they have an addict in their midst a secret. Trying to handle all of the pain and anguish that comes along with caring for someone with an addiction problem without any support can lead to a variety of additional problems. Rather than keeping this type of secret, families will need to reach out to friends and drug treatment professionals for help.

The professionals you reach out to will be able to offer advice on how to approach your family member about treatment. The last thing you want to do is make a mistake when the time comes for an intervention. Drug treatment professionals will be able to help you organize the intervention and make sure the right information is conveyed to the suffering drug addicted person in question.

Let the Substance Abuser Know Their Options

Often times, the family member with the opiate abuse problem will become so down and depressed that they don’t see a way out of their current situation. The family of the opiate addict will need to let them know what options they have and tell them they can change.

With all of the different treatment options out there, it will be easy for the person suffering from the disease of addiction to get the professional help they need. If he/she is willing, you will need to take them on a tour of a few different treatment facilities. Getting a treatment facility with an experienced medical staff is important due to the danger that comes with being weaned off of opiates. Medical professionals will know how to treat this addiction and can help the addict in your life rid themselves of the chemical dependencies they have.

Get the Whole Family Involved

Keeping the secret that there is someone suffering from addiction in the family can do a lot more harm than good. If certain members of your family aren’t aware of the situation, they may make things worse without meaning to. When the time comes to do an intervention, you will need to get as many loved ones rallying around your loved one as possible. By showing this type of support, you will be able to show him/her that there are people who want them to succeed in life. By keeping this secret, you will only alienate the people in your family and will be unable to put up a unified front when it comes to getting the drug addict in the family treatment.

Be Honest About the Risks

Rather than sugar coating the situation at hand, you will need to be honest with the drug user in your family about the risk they are in. Jail time and death are an inevitable when you are addicted to opiates. If the drug abuser is aware of the danger they are in, it may cause them to snap back into reality and get treatment.

When the time comes to get treatment for the opiate dependent person in your family, you will have to take the time to get the right facility chosen. With the right help, you will be able to get your loved one off of drugs and back on the road to recovery.

Addiction Treatment Center Outlines 10 Reasons Why People Abuse Drugs Or Alcohol

New Jersey, 03/29/2017 /SubmitPressRelease123/

When most people think of drug addiction, they picture someone who is incapable of holding down a job, having a family, or functioning in everyday society. The reality is that most individuals with a drug addiction disorder are employed, and many of them have spouses and children.

However, there are several common reasons why people start using and abusing drugs. Knowing why drug addiction occurs is often a first step toward learning how to overcome it. Here are 10 common reasons why people become addicted to drugs.

They Get a Prescription

Since 1999, there has been a 300 percent increase in the sale of prescription painkillers like Vicodin and OxyContin. When people receive a prescription from a physician, they assume it’s safe to take. However, these powerful painkillers are actually far more addicting than street drugs. To illustrate this point, according to the Herald Dispatch in Huntington, WV in Cabell County, WV there were more than 40 million doses of opioid pain medication sold between 2007 and 2012 with a population of only 96,317 residents, according to the 2010 census.

To learn more about which legal drugs are most often abused read What Are The Top 10 Most Addictive Legal Drugs.

They Feel Oppressed and Want to Rebel

Young people especially feel intense pressure to “break the mold” or free themselves of restrictions. This can lead some teens and young adults to try drugs as a way of standing out from a crowd or rebelling against a parent or authority figures.

Alcohol and Certain Drugs Can Be Obtained Legally

Many substances are perfectly legal to buy, affordable, and easy to get. For example, alcohol is legal for anyone over 21 years old to purchase. When it’s abused, however, it can be deadly.

They Self-Medicate

People who suffer from mental health disorders such as anxiety, bipolar disorder, or depression may turn to drugs in an attempt to alleviate their symptoms. Unfortunately, using drugs to self-medicate only exacerbates mental health issues, which can create a cycle of dependency and abuse that is difficult to break.

They’re Pressured by Others

Peer pressure is a major problem for children, teens, and young adults. When fitting in with a group is the most important problem facing a child or teen, it can be difficult to say no to drugs or alcohol when friends are using it.

They Experiment

Just as young people and teens are often pressured by peers to try drugs, they are also more inclined than adults to experiment. It’s also easy to start out with a less dangerous drug, such as marijuana, and then move on to deadly substances like opioids.

Stress

Modern life is chock-full of stressors. The demands of work, family, and other responsibilities often force people to perform a constant juggling act. When the stress becomes too much, some individuals turn to drugs as a way to cope and ultimately function, but only temporarily.

Loneliness

Individuals who feel lonely may attempt to find solace in drugs. However, filling up a void with drugs typically leads to more intense feelings of isolation.

Past Trauma

People who have suffered an emotionally painful trauma, such as a troubled childhood or past abuse, may turn to drugs as a means of coping with a memory that prevents them from fully addressing the root cause and being able to move on.

Physical Injuries

Although not everyone with a physical injury gets hooked on painkillers or other types of legal drugs, this is a gateway for many people. Many opioids are so powerful and insidious that most patients don’t even realize they have become addicted to until they attempt to quit.

Fort Worth Court Of Appeals Finds Online Arbitration Policy Unenforceable

Dallas, Texas, 03/29/2017 /SubmitPressRelease123/

Dallas employment attorney Keith Clouse stresses the importance of expressly notifying employees of company arbitration policies. Many companies use online acknowledgments to enter into arbitration agreements with employees. However, under Texas law, these are only enforceable if the employee received notice of the policy and accepted it. A recent opinion from the Fort Worth Court of Appeals demonstrates some of the challenges companies may face with enforcing online arbitration policies.

In Doe v. Columbia N. Hills Hosp., et al., Columbia tried to enforce an arbitration policy that was posted on its intranet website. However, the Fort Worth Court of Appeals found that Doe was not expressly notified of the arbitration policy. “Merely posting an arbitration policy on an intranet site is insufficient to give an employee notice.” Moreover, Columbia provided no evidence that Doe actually accessed the intranet site. Because Doe did not have notice of the arbitration policy, the trial court abused its discretion in compelling arbitration.

Companies should expressly notify employees of online arbitration policies and, if possible, have employees sign and acknowledge receipt of the arbitration polices.

To speak to an employment law attorney about company arbitration policies, send an email to debra@clousedunn.com or call (214) 239-2705. This article is presented by the Dallas employment law lawyers at Clouse Dunn LLP.

Emergency Two-Way Radios Continue to Become Essential in Survival Kits

Emergency walkie-talkies are a must for those aiming to protect themselves from dire weather conditions or general emergency situations. Incorporating two-way radios in one’s emergency kit or having them readily available in the home has proven to be insurmountably beneficial.

San Diego, United States – March 31, 2017 /PressCable/

Emergency walkie-talkies are a must for those aiming to protect themselves from dire weather conditions or general emergency situations. Of course, being prepared for every type of emergency is impossible, but incorporating two-way radios in one’s emergency kit or having them readily available in the home has proven to be insurmountably beneficial.

Walkie-Talkie Central has thoroughly and objectively studied the best two-way radio options of 2017, helping those seeking walkie-talkies for an emergency. Aiding consumers with knowledge and confidence, they are assisting many shoppers in preparing for the unexpected.

Providing one of the most dependable means of communication, walkie-talkies have been used for decades in crisis situations. Walkie-talkies are hand-held two-way radios, also known as hand-held transceivers (HT), that receive and send out signals on radio frequencies. They are not dependent on cell towers, which make them much more reliable than cell phones, especially in remote areas. They can also be used during power outages and even should cell towers go down. Once the walkie-talkies are set to the same radio frequency, all one must to do is turn them on to be able to reach other members of their group.

However, when buying walkie-talkies for emergencies, there are a lot of details that need to be considered. From the signal strength, size, and condition they could be used, consumers have much to weigh when purchasing these devices. With Walkie-Talkie Central, buyers are finding answers to their questions.

Walkie-Talkie Central’s 2017 guide, is a detailed and informative source for all things walkie-talkie. Their guides hit on certain touchpoints that consumers should consider when buying their two-way radios. Discussing the difference between VHF and UHF radios, FRS and GRMS services, durability, size, power, battery, brands, and many other features, their comprehensive list covers it all.

Emergency situations are going to happen. With Spring fast approaching, hurricanes, tornados, and storms are on their way. Inclement weather displaces hundreds of people every year, and walkie-talkie radios are on the list of many buyers for their survival kits as they approach the season. Walkie-Talkie Central has catapulted into consumer’s vision with their 2017 two-way radio guide, helping people be prepared for what’s to come.

Adriana And The Gorlesque Haunt

Hollywood, California, USA, 03/29/2017 /SubmitPressRelease123/

The well-known and highly respected actress Adriana Castillo is most famous for the play Angel Academy, directed by Chris Berube, as well as the show Gorlesque produced by Pete Metzger. She is currently starring in the wonderful film Hidden, which is a movie that was nominated for Best Film at the Guerrillas Awards 2017 in Spain.

Gorlesque is a show with arguably the most idiosyncratic, scary, and frightening haunted house in 2016. If you want the full terrifying experience, of a typical Halloween-style scare incorporated with sex then this is the horror for you. Gorlesque is a psychological thriller about a demented, and pathological German doctor named Dr. Weltshmertz, who has a sick obsession with perfection. Unfortunately perfection is not all that it appears to be, as visitors arriving in Dr. Weltschmertz cult headquarters the Weltschmertz Society soon discover for themselves.

Hidden is yet another thriller, where the beautiful and talented Adriana plays the role of Alicia, a girl who is accused of a crime that she is innocent of, but pleading not guilty could mean the demise of her boyfriend, played by Jacob Anton. Adriana claimed that the most satisfying part about her role as the character Alicia, was being able to give life to a character, whose emotions were that of unconditional love, and the fear of lack of trust for her loved ones. In films like Hidden Adriana’s extraordinary talent, allowed her to portray a character as complex as Alicia. This role reminded her of the reasons why she wanted to become an actress in the first place. In order for the audience to see something they can relate to in their own life.

&nbsp:

The depth of Adriana’s work and her experience playing in thrillers, and action movies is proof of how gifted she is. Her next project will be a TV commercial for the special brand I Can Afford College, which will be released on national television in March. This commercial is extremely inspirational because of the ambitious, and enthusiastic character called Maria Esperanza played by Adriana. The name Esperanza itself is a play on words because Esperanza means hope in English. Commercials are one of Adriana’s biggest strengths, and the I Can Afford College one is more impressive than many others. It encourages people to receive a higher education, and become more successful in life. Adriana Castillo is an experienced, working actress with a natural talent for the stage, and by using her ability to play in various TV shows and movies, she will bring something new to the entertainment industry.
