Free evaluation kit illustrates how company’s IEC 61850 library can speed up application and device development and lead to more reliable results, Triangle MicroWorks reports
RALEIGH, N.C. – March 15, 2017 /MarketersMedia/ —
Triangle MicroWorks, Inc., extended an open invitation to evaluate the company’s IEC 61850 source code library. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61850 technical standard describes a reliable means of communication between automated systems serving electrical substations, and the Triangle MicroWorks library eases implementation of the standard in particular devices and applications. With full support for IEC 61850 Manufacturing Message Specification (MMS), Generic Object Oriented Substation Event (GOOSE), and Sampled Value Control Blocks, the Triangle MicroWorks C++ and Ansi-C libraries improve reliability, shorten development cycles, and streamline testing for Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) and software application projects.
Available now at the Triangle MicroWorks website, the company’s IEC 61850 evaluation kit illustrates how the application programming interface allows access to the underlying data model and services; how an included example database integrates into a sample application; how control blocks and data are parsed in Substation Configuration Language (SCL) files; and how reports and GOOSE communications can be published in accordance with SCL prescriptions. The Triangle MicroWorks IEC 61850 library evaluation kit supports Windows operating systems and includes an example Visual Studio project, server application, and SCL file. The full version of the Triangle MicroWorks IEC 61850 library is also available in an optimized, highly portable ANSI-C form that supports Linux and has been implemented on a number of real-time operating systems.
“With so much interesting, important work going on in the field of IEDs for electrical substations, we’d like to extend an invitation to evaluate our IEC 61850 library,” said Triangle MicroWorks representative Beth Capeles, “We’re proud of the way this library makes IEC 61850 development and testing so much easier and more reliable, and we think our evaluation kit helps illustrate the value the library delivers.”
