Li Chaorong, a researcher at the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, had just arrived at the Jiangxi Provincial Institute of cultural relics and archaeology by train that night. “In 1989, I also set out from Beijing on May 6 and arrived in Nanchang on May 7 for the purpose of investigating ancient human clues in Anyi county.” Twenty six years later, the middle-aged man of that year has become a a cycle of sixty years old man. “As is, Xu Changqing, who was also from Jiangxi Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, and Hu Xiangang, a cultural relic lover in Anyi county.”

These three people have been studying archaeology for 26 years. They conducted a clue survey of paleohuman activities in Anyi county. The preliminary investigation results put the human activities in Jiangxi Province forward for more than 100,000 years. The Paleolithic found in zhanglinggang, Anyi County, has been identified by Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, which fills a gap in the distribution of Paleolithic known in China.

A large number of Shang and Zhou Dynasties utensils have been found at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery. For example, in 1982, the bronze chess unearthed from Changbu town in the second year of Chongning (1103) of the Northern Song Dynasty is a rare treasure.

Longanyi, also known as Longjinyi, is the cultural center of early Jiangxi merchants. In the Qing Dynasty, Empress Dowager Cixi once gave a satin plaque to Holy Water Temple in Anyi county.

It’s not easy to imagine that Anyi county has an ancient cultural village with a history of more than 1400 years, or even the “millennium ancient county” assessed by the United Nations group of experts on geographical names, which is a model of the perfect combination of Jiangxi and its business culture.

Anyi has many famous scholars. not including Sui and Tang Dynasties. Excluding the Sui and Tang Dynasties, from the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, there were 110 Tien Si and 185 Juren recorded in the annals. This is not a figure that can be underestimated for Anyi, which had a population of more than 10,000 at that time.

In Song Dynasty, there are mainly works of Yang Lian and Yang Yi, while in Yuan Dynasty, there are mainly works of Xiong Shixue. Ming Dynasty is an important period of development. There are many cultural celebrities with excellent works.

Anyi is “the hometown of Chinese poetry”. Anyi poetry has a history of more than 1300 years. Huang Tingjian, a famous poet of the Northern Song Dynasty, once gave lectures and discussed poetry in Leihu Academy here, leaving many magnificent poems.

Anyi Wenfeng poetry society holds poetry meetings every “Grain Rain” and “Chongyang”. Its members are all over the county and even overseas. Many poems have won national, provincial and municipal awards.

Anyi calligraphy and painting art is also unique. For example, Wei Henian, a famous painter in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty, was one of the eight famous landscape painters in Nanchang.

After years of cultivation and development, Anyi building materials industry has developed from scratch, and has formed a building materials industry cluster of the whole industrial chain from aluminum profile and plastic steel profile processing to glass, microcrystalline jade, hardware, glass glue, bathroom, aluminum doors and windows.

In 2016, there were 131 building materials enterprises in the park, with a total industrial output value of 10.531 billion yuan and a production capacity of 960,000 tons, ranking third in China. Building materials industry takes up a large proportion in Anyi industrial park economy.

At present, the building materials industry cluster of Anyi county ranks the 26th among the 61 industry clusters in the whole province, which really has an influence in Jiangxi Province and even in the whole country.

Fortunately, the splendid “millennium ancient county” history and culture has always been in the poetry of generations of scholars, in the footsteps of heroes and heroines, in every corner of today’s Anyi. The town of Newington suffered a spike in crime in the past months which was a cause for alarm and requires some response from the authorities.
