The Church of Scientology South Africa celebrates its 4th year anniversary in 2023 at its revamped Kyalami Castle property which it uses as its African headquarters. It reports on its accomplishments and expansion in the last 4 years of its grand opening attended by over 4,000 people ranging from members of government, community leaders, religious leaders from other faiths and senior officials from the police department. 

The 87,000-square-foot castle sits on 22 acres of land and includes 12 crenellated turrets and eight-inch-thick walls. The revamped interior includes Italian marble floors mined from the same quarries used by Michelangelo, the church said.

Originally constructed in 1992 for a Greek architect and his family, the castle has gothic arched windows, more than a dozen outdoor terraces and wrought-iron chandeliers. Other features include: A classic Greek fountain; Wrought-iron chandelier; Coffered ceilings; Crafted wood moldings.

Developed by L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology is described as “a religion that offers a precise path leading to a complete and certain understanding of one’s true spiritual nature and one’s relationship to self, family, groups, mankind, all life forms, the material universe, the spiritual universe and the Supreme Being”.

Since the opening in 2019 January, the Church has received over 60 000 guests from all over South Africa who are all dedicated to working together for a better future. Castle Kyalami stands in testament to Scientology’s commitment to helping create an Africa that can fulfill its unlimited potential.

Since the ribbon was cut in January 2019. Castle Kyalami has brought its resources to the community of Africa in full scale. They have brought human rights education, drug awareness and moral regeneration to millions across the continent. 

During the pandemic, the Church of Scientology extended its resources to the entire community of South and headed operations that saw them deliver relief with their Scientology Volunteer Ministers programme. They managed to Decontaminate over 70’000 public buildings including hospitals, clinics, shelters, elderly home, government building all for free to protect their country against covid. Additionally, they decontaminated over 1.3 million taxis, ambulances, buses and more in the fight against the pandemic. Their humanitarian efforts saw them garner over 800 awards and recognitions from all over the country and forged over 300 partnerships across the country to build a better society. 

They have additionally just celebrated training over 20,000 South Africans from all sectors of society, on their Tools For Life Skills Development Programme, in order to equip society with practical skills to everyday problems.

Today the building stands atop Midrand as the spiritual retreat for Scientologists and a meeting ground for cooperative efforts for a better South Africa and includes an expansive state-of-the-art auditorium, a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating for more than 200, a café, a swimming pool and a braai-equipped gazebo.

While Kyalami Castle acts as the African headquarters for Scientology, the church has a number of properties across the country from Gauteng, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha and plans to expand even further into Africa.

This week, a record breaking of 1300 attendees graduated from a skills development program called Tools for Life delivered at the Castle Kyalami by the Scientology Volunteer Ministers.

This week, a record breaking of 1 300 attendees graduated from a skills development program called Tools for Life delivered at the Castle Kyalami by the Scientology Volunteer Ministers. Wanting to improve their own life, schools, communities, etc., and having completed all 19 Tools for Life courses, it is with pride that over 1 300 attended the graduation, thrilled with their achievement and ready to start improving their area to create a better South Africa now that they have those practical tools under their belts.

The participants came from all backgrounds: educators from all levels, government officials, municipal leaders, community developers, early childhood practitioners, university professors, business leaders, pastors, social workers, nurses, police officers and agri-preneurs from all over Gauteng – all trained very hard to learn those very timely practical skills.  Those skills included how to resolve conflicts, poverty alleviation, youth empowerment, tackling learning barriers, improving the quality of education, communication, business ethics, improving self-confidence, how to achieve goals, successful relations, public relations, financial ethics, overcoming drug abuse and many more needed to be successful in improving the current conditions that plague our country. 

Noticing the devastating impact of Covid-19 on the country, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers decided to contribute in rebuilding South Africa by empowering individuals with practical life skills they can use to rebuild their lives and the country. “Many of the previous graduates of this program have since opened successful farms, successful businesses, improved their employment opportunities, changed the quality of education and more.  Their successes make the important point that these simple but powerful skills work,” said Sandile Hlayisi, Chairperson of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers. 


Hlayisi opened the ceremony with words of encouragement.  “Each and every one now has the ability to achieve many great deeds that will benefit society. In the words of the late Nelson Mandela, “Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great. You can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom”.”

A range of speaker’s present included the MEC for Finance and e-Government, National Department of Disaster Management, Provincial department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Johannesburg Metro Police Department, Johannesburg Emergency Services and members of the South African Police Service. 

Commemorating as well the fact that since 2020, over 20’000 graduates have been produced, the testimonials flood in daily giving a picture of the successes achieved by the graduates as they implement these tools in their daily lives. Coach Mandy, who overcame many hurdles in life, is using these skills in her career as a life coach to make a positive impact.

The well attended ceremony ended on a high note as the graduates were already making plans on how they will change their society after this training. Hlayisi concluded that by providing practical tools to the community, he feels it will create confident leaders. “We can improve society and other conditions by working together.” 

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers have so far trained over 20’000 South Africans who all completed the 19 Tools for Life courses written by renowned humanitarian, Mr. L. Ron Hubbard and they are continuing their path in creating more.

Kriptomat’s position is that strict, unambiguous regulations help safeguard everyone involved in crypto. “We believe the new licencing regime will help build trust in Estonian crypto companies,” Davidovic says, “both for customers and other market participants: banks, auditors, insurance companies, and others.”

Meeting Estonia’s strict requirements has given Kriptomat a head-start in addressing the European Securities and Markets Authority’s Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulations, which began phasing into effect throughout the euro market in June 2023.
