Swedish Start-Up MuchSkills Selected for Kickstart Innovation’s 2023 Cohort

This marks another milestone for MuchSkills in a year where its recurring revenue has increased by nearly 400% compared to last year and subscriber LTV has by 2,300%.

MuchSkills, a leading skills management platform, has been selected for Kickstart Innovation’s 2023 cohort in the ‘New Work and Learning’ category. It is one of  41 innovative start-ups from 13 countries – and the only one from Sweden – to be selected for the program after a rigorous selection process where 170+ judges reviewed over 1,000 submissions.

Kickstart Innovation is a Switzerland-based platform that works closely with organizations in the public and private sectors to support their innovation process. It does so by helping them collaborate with carefully-selected later-stage start-ups with a goal to accelerate deep tech innovation. The program benefits both because it helps create new business opportunities for established companies, while young companies get to test the scalability, application, and impact of their innovations within a rigorous corporate environment.

The 2023 cohort – or the #Kickstarters23 – will visit Switzerland in September to meet potential collaborators and investors. Between September and November, the focus will be on the creation and securement of proofs-of-concept, pilot projects, and other innovation partnerships between Kickstart’s partners and the #Kickstarters23. The confirmed collaborations will be announced in November.

3DSourced, one of the largest 3D printing publishers in the world, has announced that it has finished the acquisition of 3D printer filament manufacturer Rigid.Ink.

Rigid.Ink was one of the largest producers of filament for 3D printers in the UK but stopped selling filament in recent years to focus on 3D printing content. 3DSourced has acquired Rigid.Ink to help grow the content publishing side of the business and intends to scale the content on 3D printers, 3D scanners, 3D software, filament, and more.

3DSourced first agreed on the deal to acquire Rigid.Ink from Ed Tyson, the Founder of Rigid.Ink, back in 2022. The deal is now finalised. Ed Tyson is also the Founder of the Institute of 3D Printing and is now focusing on this new 3D printing project. The Rigid.Ink content, products, and brand name have become a part of the 3DSourced website, and work will be done to further grow what Rigid.Ink has created.

Moreover, it fell by 15% versus a 25% drop for desktop ad spending. “While recent surges in viewership will likely recede through the summer and as stay-at-home orders ease, the preference for mobile will remain, which will drive advertisers to mobile over the long term,” commented PubMatic senior executive Paulina Klimenko.

Influential analytics group eMarketer has been keeping a close watch on the advertising market, adjusting its forecasts periodically to reflect the impact of the pandemic. Its most recent revision features a projected drop of minimum 6% in US mobile ad spending during the second quarter of 2020 although the company sees a 10% year-on-year decline as more likely, and its expectations for the rest of the year are also significantly tempered. “Even so, the relative share of different platforms and formats will likely not dramatically change from our March 6 forecast […] Prior to the coronavirus, we expected US mobile ad spend to grow 20.7% to $105.34 billion in 2020, which would mean that mobile ad spend would account for more than two thirds (68.1%) of digital ad spend. We now believe any growth this year in mobile ad spend will be small, if it happens at all.” Despite the subdued mood at present, the majority of marketing professionals do not foresee severe disruption to their brand and content strategies, Daniel Yomtobian points out, citing the results of a survey conducted by Bynder. According to it, 57% of respondents are bracing for a lasting impact, but they do not expect it to be a transformative one.
