As a member of the Lifeline Sportfishing Team, McDowell made her mark competitively in the 2024 Sport Fishing Championship. Her team earned the prestigious title of Zane Grey Champions and she was the lady angler. Their team had struggled to win in previous years, then they began securing major victories, including winning the Gulf Division and clinching the Zane Grey Championship in Cabo, Mexico this past year.

McDowell attributes much of her team’s success to unity and prayer. “It’s been amazing to see Jesus strategically work in our lives, especially over the past year,” McDowell says. “Our victories are a direct result of HIS grace and inviting HIM into the process.”

The Birth of a Children’s Book Series

Inspired during a personal fast with her church, McDowell began working on the manuscript for Fishing with Jesus on a Small Boat in January 2024. The idea was more than just a story about fishing—it was an opportunity to share her faith with children in a way that is engaging, relatable, and adventurous. As the book enters its final stages before release, McDowell is excited to share it with families and young readers around the world.

The story follows the family on an exciting fishing adventure while subtly weaving in life lessons about faith and perseverance. McDowell plans for Fishing with Jesus on a Small Boat to be the first book in a series that will introduce young readers to the world of sportfishing. She tragically lost her father and brother at the young age of twenty and her mother in 2016. As a wife, and mom, McDowell champions the importance of spending quality time together. “Time is our greatest gift to give one another,” McDowell shares. “I just told my husband and boys they weren’t leaving me at the dock.” Some of her most precious memories have been made on the water.
