FACE OFF round 2: Buggyra juniors show progress in competitive weekend at the Lausitzring

The innovative Buggyra Academy program called FACE OFF continued with the second round of the GT Cup series at Germany’s Lausitzring. Friday featured an endurance race, followed by two sprint races on Saturday.

Monaco/France, June 18, 2025 /MarketersMEDIA/ — Under the Buggyra ZM Racing colours, two Mercedes-AMG GT4 cars lined up for the event. In car number 29, Aliyyah Koloc made her GT racing season debut alongside 18-year-old Miroslav Mikeš, after having missed the first round due to racing in the difficult Taklimakan Rally in China. In the second car, number 55, experienced driver Adam Lacko teamed up with 16-year-old Filip Nedoma.

On both days, Buggyra drivers led the GT4 class, although they ultimately missed out on victory in the endurance race. The results from both days at the German circuit showed just how evenly matched the two young drivers are. After the Red Bull Ring and Lausitzring, Miroslav Mikeš leads the internal standings with 41 points, while Filip Nedoma is just one point behind. The points system includes not only race results but also other key criteria important for the development of young drivers.

Aliyyah Koloc was very much looking forward to her first race of the GT season after focusing on rally raids so far this year: “It is always nice to get to know a new track. The Lausitzring is a fun track, challenging with lots of bumps. In rallying, you are often alone on track, in GT you need to be aware of the other cars around you. I also enjoy mentoring Miroslav. However, my number one goal this weekend is beating my teammate Adam!”

Endurance Race (Friday)

Aliyyah and Miroslav achieved just that in Friday’s endurance race, finishing ahead of Adam and Filip. “It is not really an endurance race, as it only lasts one hour,” Aliyyah Koloc noted with a smile. “We started second, but Adam had some technical issues, so he had to start from the pit lane. I made a small mistake at the start of the race, which cost me a position, and we got a penalty due to a problematic pit stop.” As a result, Aliyyah and Miroslav dropped from first to second in the GT4 class, while Adam and Filip finished third.

For Aliyyah Koloc, racing for the first time with 18-year-old Miroslav Mikeš was perfect. “We didn’t have any issues and learned a lot from each other. We spent time reviewing the data and onboards and steadily improved together.”

Sprint Race 1 (Saturday morning)

Sprint Race 1 was driven solely by the junior drivers, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their development without the guidance of their mentors. Miroslav Mikeš came out on top in a clean and competitive battle with Filip Nedoma.

Miroslav Mikeš summarized his race: “First sprint race, first victory, consistent lap times: what more could I wish for? It was a big learning experience, and I’m thrilled. I didn’t get much driving time at the Red Bull Ring because of technical issues, so I’m really glad I was able to complete a full race here. After the start, I managed to overtake several GT3 cars, and I’m happy to have taken the win over Filip.”

Sprint Race 2 (Saturday afternoon)

In Sprint Race 2, the experienced drivers were back behind the wheel. This time, it was Adam Lacko who triumphed over Aliyyah Koloc in a closely fought contest.

Adam Lacko enjoyed the fight with Aliyyah, ultimately beating her in the end by just four-tenths of a second: “Aliyyah and I had a really close fight on track on Saturday, and I think we both enjoyed it just as much as the spectators did. I was, of course, happy to come out on top in the end. The start at the Lausitzring is always tricky, you need to stay really alert. Overall, I’m pleased with the weekend. We scored solid points and finished on the podium, which is always a good result.”

Aliyyah added: “Sprint race 2 was a lot of fun, we were fighting the whole time with Adam. At the start, a couple of cars spun in front of me, so it got a little chaotic. Adam stayed in front the whole time. I really need to work on my attack moves. I was a little cautious because I didn’t want to risk taking out my teammate. But overall, I am really happy with the race.”

Martin Koloc, team principal and CEO of Buggyra ZM Racing, summarized the weekend’s takeaways: “Our FACE OFF program is gaining momentum. Friday wasn’t ideal as we made quite a few mistakes, both from a driving and technical perspective. But by Saturday, the whole team was working flawlessly. Aliyyah and Adam had a great race, and the engineers made smart strategic decisions, pitting the juniors against each other and then Adam against Aliyyah. We have definitely taken another step forward.”

Both the endurance and the sprint races demonstrated the growing potential of Buggyra’s junior drivers, as well as the consistency and leadership of their mentors.

In the competition between the two Buggyra crews, team #29 still holds a clear lead with 130 points, but team #55 is gradually closing the gap, leaving Germany with 85 points.

The next round of the FACE OFF program will take place on July 25-26 in Most, Czech Republic.
