Calvin E. Tyrrell was born in Endicott, New York, in September 1941. His family moved to Rhode Island in 1948 where he attended school. He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1966 and has an Honorable Discharge. He was married in 1962. He had two children and moved his family to Florida in 1971 where they still reside. He also has a degree in Business Management.

In Florida, Cal, as he is known to his friends, held a Real Estate Broker’s License, owned two Real Estate offices and was a Notary Public for many years. He is past President of the Osceola County Board of Realtors, past Director of the Florida Association of Realtors, past President of the Osceola Writer’s Club and past District Manager of United Agencies. He served on the East Central Florida Regional Planning Advisory Council. He is a co-founder of the Osceola County Wagon Train & Trail Ride Inc. and served as its president for five years, vice president three more years and Director for thirteen years. He retired from Osceola County Property Appraiser’s Office in 2002 where he worked as a residential appraiser for over 15 years.

Cal is a member of the Osceola County Historical society. He served on the County’s Centennial Committee and three years later he was Vice Chairman of the Osceola County’s Courthouse Centennial Committee. He wrote the official County Song and another for the Courthouse Centennial Committee and recorded them. He has received several awards for his efforts in his writing of poetry, short stories and music. With his varied background in personal experiences, he has an almost never-ending list of stories to tell.

Hong Kong-based advanced materials innovator, Surwon Technology is hailing a recent experiment by a European-based group of physicists in which they successfully used graphene to compress light to a thickness of just one atom as “game-changing”.

The breakthrough by researchers at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) in Barcelona, Spain reportedly paves the way for the construction of miniscule sensors, detectors and switches, something that is beyond the capabilities of the conventional materials in use today by chip and semi-conductor manufacturers.

Surwon Technology believes the development could one day lead to the construction of nano-sized machines capable of operating at the cellular level and that such development holds enormous implications for medical treatments.

“We had always believed that reducing light to the thickness of one atom to be impossible since, previously, all attempts to do so using metal would always culminate in a loss of energy. That graphene made the feat possible is further testament to the fact that we are still only scratching the surface of what this remarkable material is capable of,” enthused Surwon Technology’s Chief Technology Officer.

The ICFO researchers admitted that the discovery was made entirely by accident during an attempt to find new ways of exciting graphene “plasmons”. While doing so, they noticed that the confinement was better than anything they’d managed to achieve before while energy losses were minimal.

“We will be keeping a close eye on their development with a view to guiding some of our own research into nano-technology,” concluded Surwon Technology’s CTO.

For example, in the Lewis and Clark Expedition, they went through the northern states. The only way they could have survived was with the help of the Native Americans there.

The book begins when Henry De Beaumont, the author’s 25th great-grandfather, fought in the Battle of Hastings with William the Conqueror. William endowed to be the first Earl of Warwick Castle. The Daltons came from Ireland and fought in this same battle. They were given land in England and inter-married with the Beaumonts. Eventually, the families migrated to America.

The families had a mixture of outlaws and ministers. The author’s great-grandfather was hung for stealing a horse. She also recalls hearing of the notorious Dalton Gang from her aunts, cousins, and uncles when they would come to visit, but at the time was unaware of the outlaw gang until years later, reading about them in history books.
