Marker Mayhem, a new book by L. D. Filippis, has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.

Marker Mayhem is story about a little girl who loves to draw all sorts of pictures for school and for her mom and dad using colored markers because they come in so many different and bright colors. One day, as the little girl draws, the marker stops working. Upset, the little girl tries a different marker – and it also stops working. More and more markers quit. What is going on?

When the little girl finds the markers are unhappy with always having to do the same thing over and over, she promises to help. But as the demands become more and more silly, the mayhem is only beginning!

About the Author
L. D. Filippis was that little girl growing up. Her mom and dad would buy her colored markers because she loved to draw! One day her markers stopped working, one after another after another. So this really happened. She wrote the first version when she was five years old. Filippis loves to write stories that fill her mind. She also loves to ride horses, dance, pick pumpkins with her dad, and walk on the beach looking for big shells.

One thing Filippis would really like to do is trap a leprechaun around St. Patrick’s Day. Each year she tries but those leprechauns always seem to get away and make a mess of her room. Maybe she should write a story about them!

Marker Mayhem is a 30-page paperback with a retail price of $19.00. The ISBN is 978-1-4809-4539-5. It was published by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Simple Tax System, a new book by Daniel V. Carbaugh, BA, MS, has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.

April 15th is just another day. The NEW201* TAX System is renamed Simple Tax System: no annual tax day, no tax forms, no withholding tax, no corporate tax, no back taxes penalties, no tax files to preserve for years past, no separate tax system for businesses, no intimidation and, NO IRS!
We should be searching for the simple, easily understood answer for funding essential services of the federal government.

STOP taxing INCOME! Use the Simple Tax System. It’s Fair. It’s Simple. It WILL Work!

About the Author
Daniel V. Carbaugh, BA, MS was born in south-central Pennsylvania in 1942. Along the way Dan earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and a graduate degree in Engineering Management from the Johns Hopkins University.

Dan and his family endured twenty plus years as expatriates in Europe, South-east Asia, South America, and North Africa. He retired from engineering management in 2007 and moved with his wife to South-west Florida. Dan’s interest in tax reform came as a result of caring about fixing the federal tax code so that he could finally understand it.

Helendale, CA Author Publishes Spiritual Book

The Kingdom of God Come Upon You, a new book by Richard Charles Carlson, has been released by RoseDog Books.

Author Richard Charles Carlson wrote this book for you to understand why things happen in this world whether it is good or bad. He wants other people to be happy and to accept others for who they are with love. You should have no room in your heart to hate anyone.

Carlson’s main focus is to try to have a better understanding of what the Bible is all about from the beginning to the end. He uses scripture to show proof of his belief through faith of why people exist and our purpose. In the book, Carlson writes about the events before and after this universe was created. His main focus is on Jesus Christ and the war with Satan for people to understand good and evil and to then know good and evil by examining themselves.

Carlson finds that everything in the Bible is very important, from the beginning to the end. He refers to it as “Jesus’ Book.” He discovers more about God’s kingdom by revelations through visage, dreams, and even through other people. American Board of Surgery Announces Details of New Continuous Certification Program

PHILADELPHIA, March 6, 2018 – The American Board of Surgery (ABS), the national certifying board for general surgeons and related specialists, is pleased to announce the details of its new Continuous Certification Program. Shaped by surgeon feedback, this new program is designed to provide greater value, flexibility and convenience in maintaining ABS board certification.

The Continuous Certification Program documents a surgeon’s ongoing commitment to professionalism, lifelong learning, and practice improvement following initial board certification. As part of this new program, the ABS is transitioning to a new assessment process that will gradually replace the traditional secure recertification exam. Rather than one recertification exam every 10 years, ABS-certified surgeons, known as diplomates, will use the new assessment process to demonstrate their surgical knowledge on a continual basis. The new assessment is being introduced in 2018 for general surgery, with other ABS specialties launching over the next few years.

New General Surgery Assessment
The new assessment will focus on the latest and most important developments in practice, to assist diplomates in staying up to date and integrating new knowledge.

The general surgery assessment will consist of a 40-question, open-book assessment to be taken and passed every other year.
Out of the 40 questions, 20 will cover core surgical principles, and the other 20 will cover a practice-related area of the diplomate’s choosing.
For 2018, diplomates will be able to select from four practice-related areas: general surgery, abdomen, alimentary tract, or breast. More areas are planned for the future based on feedback from diplomates and surgical societies.
Topics and references for the various areas will be published in advance on the ABS website.
Diplomates will take the assessment through their own computer at a time and place of their choosing within the assessment window.
While taking the assessment, diplomates will be provided with immediate feedback, and will have two opportunities to answer a question correctly. A final score of 80% correct will be required to pass.
Once the assessment is started, diplomates will have two weeks to complete it, with the ability to save and continue when convenient.

2018 Dates
Registration for the new general surgery assessment will open Aug. 1. The assessment will be available this fall from Sept. 7 to Nov. 5. Diplomates may choose any time during this window to take the assessment at their convenience.

Enrollment Timeline
Diplomates with general surgery certificates expiring this year may use the new assessment to continue their certification. All current general surgery diplomates will be required to begin taking the new assessment by 2020.
New general surgery diplomates, certified in the 2017-2018 academic year or later, will begin taking the assessment three years after the academic year in which they became certified. For a diplomate who was certified in the fall of 2017, he or she will need to take the first assessment by 2021.
The ABS has also established a new pathway specifically for surgeons with lapsed general surgery certificates. This pathway will be available for three years – in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Certification Status
Once participating in the new general surgery assessment process, a diplomate’s certification status will be contingent on passing the assessment every other year, as well as meeting the other requirements of Continuous Certification. This will include an annual fee of $285, which will cover one assessment every other year and general program participation.

This new paradigm is intended to more accurately reflect the rapid changes in surgical knowledge and practice and better promote high-quality patient care. A grace year will always be provided for those who need to retake the assessment or otherwise catch up on requirements.

“It was important to all the ABS directors and staff that this new program reflect the way our diplomates practice today, and to support them by providing a high-value assessment process that focuses on essential developments in surgical practice,” said Dr. Mary E. Klingensmith, ABS chair. “We welcome diplomates’ input as this new program continues to evolve.”

For further information, please see the Continuous Certification area of the ABS website. Additional details will be made available in the months ahead. Diplomates are encouraged to keep their contact information up to date to receive the latest updates.

About the ABS
The American Board of Surgery (www.absurgery.org) is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 for the purpose of certifying individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training and knowledge in the field of surgery. Surgeons certified by the ABS have completed at least five years of surgical training following medical school and successfully completed a written and oral examination process administered by the ABS. They must then maintain their board certification through ongoing learning and practice improvement activities.

The ABS offers board certification in general surgery, vascular surgery, pediatric surgery, surgical critical care, complex general surgical oncology, surgery of the hand, and hospice and palliative medicine. It is one of the 24 member boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Picture-Perfect Presentations available in QuickScore and Scoreboard

Providing picture-perfect presentations from web-based applications has long been a problem for ‘cloud’ based application providers. This is no longer the case for QuickScore and Scoreboard the two leading scorecard and KPI management systems provided by Intrafocus Limited.

The QuickScore* and Scoreboard* development team has always been recognised in the market as an organisation that takes advantage of new technologies as soon as they arrive. This has certainly been the case when developing the presentation export facility.

“We are very excited about this new functionality” explains Clive Keyte, director at Intrafocus, “Most cloud-based applications do not export their output to presentation or documents very efficiently. We are now using technology that provides a picture-perfect rendition so what you see on the screen, you will see in the exported presentation.”

The new system is available in Version 3 of both QuickScore and Scoreboard. This is great news for new customers. Customers on Version 2 of the software can take advantage of the currently free migration if they want to use the new export functionality.

The application is designed for online use but many customers want to create and distribute presentations. This is done using the ‘Briefing’ facility. A slide deck can be quickly and easily created from Scorecards, Measures, Objectives, Dashboards, Reports, Charts and Initiatives/Tasks. This can be ordered and reordered to suit the audience. On a single ‘click’ the Briefing can be exported to a pdf document or to a PowerPoint presentation.

* What’s the difference between Scoreboard and QuickScore? Very little! Where Quickscore has menu items related to the Balanced Scorecard, Scoreboard uses a generic business language. If you prefer the terms Perspective and Measure try QuickScore. If you prefer the terms Performance Area and KPI try Scoreboard.

About Intrafocus
Intrafocus is a strategic management consultancy and balanced scorecard software reseller. They offer services to Europe, The Middle East and Africa. As an affiliate of the Balanced Scorecard Institute, Intrafocus runs strategic planning and balanced scorecard training classes. In-house strategy workshops are also provided for management teams to help them produce lasting strategies that can be successfully implemented.

Encompass Inspections Featured on Travel Channel

Arizona company Encompass Inspections, known for using multiple technologies for subsurface investigations, recently aided Travel Channel show Expedition Unknown in an underground search with a historic twist.

“We were honored to be part of this project and certainly floored when our team actually found an anomaly right in the location they suspected Butch Cassidy’s body,” said Encompass Inspections President John Lehn. “It was great working with the Travel Channel on such an interesting project with such historical significance.”

The show follows host Josh Gates as he investigates the world’s most enduring legends and mysteries. In a recent episode regarding legendary outlaw Butch Cassidy and the location of his grave, Encompass Inspections delivered cutting-edge technology to conduct the search.

In addition to traditional applications in construction, technologies like ground-penetrating radar (GPR) are commonly used by law enforcement to find unmarked graves and for other forensic work. Subsurface search technologies locate, measure and determine depths of items underground, in soil or in concrete.

Chosen for its exceptional search capabilities, Encompass Inspections scanned a large area of a mountainside in Johnnie, Nevada. The mountain’s old mine is where some allege Cassidy was buried 100 years ago. After identifying multiple potential gravesites, the Encompass team narrowed the search to a particularly promising site, which happens to correspond to eyewitness accounts and historic photos.

Artificial Intelligence Trading Software VantagePoint Gets Positive Review in Stocks & Commodities Magazine

VantagePoint, the market forecasting software for intermarket analysis using artificial intelligence (AI) and neural networks, received a positive review in the latest edition of Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities. Reviewer and writer Brandon Jones claims use of artificial intelligence – in particular VantagePoint’s neural networks – is “…ushering in the next technological revolution on par with the industrial revolution of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.”

The favorable VantagePoint software review is published in the latest issue of Technical Analysis of Stock & Commodities, a Seattle based monthly magazine focused on commodity futures contracts, stocks, options, derivatives and forex. For more than 10 years, the reviewer, Mr. Brandon Jones, has used the VantagePoint software for day trading and short term investing and concludes in his review that version 10 is faster and more customizable than any prior version.

“I have found VantagePoint to be a reliable tool to aid in trading in the US domestic and global markets since its introduction in 1991,” Jones said in the review. “In the end, though, what truly matters is the quality and performance of the product. Does it do what I need it to do is the question we all need answered. VantagePoint 10 is the latest example in a line of versions that seeks to provide an edge for those who trade in a competitive world where even the slightest edge is often the difference between success or packing it in.”

VantagePoint was released 27 years ago as one of the first commercially available, fully trained and ready-to-use out-of-the-box AI trading software for traders. VantagePoint’s advanced neural networks and deep learning A.I. make it capable of sifting through massive amounts of data on related markets to make near-term market forecasts with up to 86% accuracy, three days in advance.

“We have a significant number of long-term VantagePoint software customers, which proves the usefulness, reliability and consistency of this powerful forecasting tool,” Lane Mendelsohn, Vice President of VantagePoint Software said. “This latest review is significant because Brandon Jones has been using our software for such a long period of time and his findings solidify VantagePoint as the leader in A.I. forecasting technology specifically applied to the global financial markets.”

Stocks and Commodities magazine first published an interview of VantagePoint developer and CEO Louis Mendelsohn in August, 1988. Mr. Mendelsohn later wrote a series of articles published in Stocks and Commodities magazine on the use of AI and neural networks to analyze of global markets. The prolific writings of Louis Mendelsohn – an acclaimed trading software pioneer – have been featured in professional journals, books, and financial publications worldwide.

Flame Resistant Apparel Experts, Massif, release a new short film. The Massif Story:Keep Going

Ashland, OR (03/06/2018) – Massif, a world-leader in Flame Resistant apparel for the U.S. Military, Wildland Firefighters, the SAR community and more, is excited to announce the release of their video-short, The Massif Story: Keep Going. Ashland, Oregon’s Jared Cruce Studio made the five-minute film, the first of a three-part series.

The intent behind the project is to broaden Massif’s brand vision, explain the company’s history, and their unique symbiosis with Antex Knitting Mills, and Matchmaster Dyeing and Finishing in Los Angeles. This partnership puts them in a strong position within the Flame Resistant Manufacturing industry that the competition can’t match. Daniel Tenenblatt, Executive V.P. at Massif, talks about the early days of Massif and Antex. “One of the founders of Massif flew down for the day from Ashland, with just a backpack. No one at Antex knew who he was. He had a great idea, saying,” “we’re going to make flame resistant garments and we’re going to sell them to the military.”

Antex/Matchmaster’s long history in the apparel industry, their solid circular knitting and finishing knowledge, and key abilities, paired with Massif’s outdoor and protective apparel experience since 1999, does indeed make them a hot commodity in the FR gear space. Steve Tacy, Director of Textiles and Technology points out in the film that, “Massif was founded based on fundamental principles, that there was a way to bridge the gap between world-class outdoor apparel and fully flame protective gear for the U.S. military.”

Massif began when a couple of SAR guys working in the Grand Tetons, were unhappy with their FR gear. It was bulky, uncomfortable, and lacked the performance characteristics they needed to do their jobs properly. So, out of a garage in a small Southern Oregon town, they decided to make their own gear and Massif has grown from those modest beginnings to one of the world’s preeminent manufacturers of high-end flame-resistant gear. Noelle Christensen, GM added in the film, “We learned from the outdoor industry and took those ideas and improved the performance of the fabrics and showed the military there was a way to make the gear better.”

The remainder of 2018 will bring two more short films from Massif and Jared Cruce Studio as the two work jointly to increase Massif’s brand awareness and gain momentum for 2019 and the company’s twenty year anniversary.
