First Transit Partners with Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority to Pilot a Shared Autonomous Vehicle on Public Roads in California

LIVERMORE, Calif. – First Transit is partnering with the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) to pilot the first operation of a shared autonomous vehicle (SAV) on a public road by a transit agency in the state of California. This is the fifth SAV initiative for First Transit in North America.

The SAV pilot will connect passengers from the Dublin/Pleasanton Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station in Dublin, Calif., to nearby shopping and entertainment. The testing phase for this pilot is expected to take two years without passengers.

First Transit will provide operational support, maintenance, and an onboard customer service agent for passenger questions and information. Easy Mile is the SAV manufacturer.

“We are proud to work with the LAVTA team bringing SAV technology to their passengers and community,” said Justin Pate, senior vice president of marketing and business development at First Transit. “After the testing phase, an onboard customer service agent will be available to answer passenger questions about how this technology is advancing to enhance their transit experience.”

The SAV is designed to travel short distances using pre-programmed routes, and is equipped with a sensor and intelligent vehicle system to detect obstacles and avoid collisions. Each SAV can carry 12 passengers and can operate for 14 hours on one battery charge.

“Our team is excited to work with a firm like First Transit that has experience operating and maintaining SAVs,” said Michael Tree, executive director of LAVTA.

First Transit’s four additional SAV pilots and initiatives across North America include Bishop Ranch Office Park in San Ramon, Calif., GoMentum Station in Concord, Calif., the City of Arlington in Arlington, Texas, and the SAV roadshow with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT).

New NeoVirgin Gel Has Been Presented In Kenya And Senegal

NeoVirgin LLC announced a new intimate tightening gel designed to narrow vaginal walls, tighten intimate muscles, and eliminate vaginal dryness. The company entered the Asian market last month with this product, and now it spreads NeoVirgin gel in Africa as well.

NeoVirgin gel contains natural ingredients that help to eliminate vaginal dryness, narrow the vaginal walls, and increase sensitivity in the intimate zone. Tremella is the active ingredient in NeoVirgin gel’s formula. Tremella, also known as snow fungus or silver ear fungus, has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine. It contains more than 70% dietary fibers including healthful polysaccharides, protein, antioxidants, minerals, and 18 different amino acids. Tremella is rich in vitamin D, which is hard to be obtained from plant foods. Traditionally, women use silver ear mushroom to make the skin moist, soft and elastic. When taken internally, Tremella nourishes the lung, stomach and kidney. It also strengthens the bones and helps maintain a healthy weight. As an ingredient in NeoVirgin gel, Tremella is used because of its tightening, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and calming properties.

From a scientific point of view, tremella can stimulate the body to increase the hyaluronic acid production in the body. It is known that hyaluronic acid helps the skin to retain moisture which makes it appear more supple and youthful. This acid also helps to lubricate joints and moisturise tissues and organs in human’s body. With the age, the natural stores of hyaluronic acid decrease, so boosting its naturally production in the body is of high importance.

Knoxville, TN Author Publishes Historical Fiction

Dauntless: A Woman Suffrage Story, a new book by Paula W. Hickey, has been released by RoseDog Books.

The summer of 1920 in the United States: women cannot vote. Congress passed the 19th Amendment to the Constitution and, while thirty-five states have ratified the amendment, one more state has to ratify for woman’s suffrage to be law. Tennessee’s governor agrees to call the Legislature into special session and the War of the Roses begins: yellow roses for the Suffragists; red for the Antis. For twelve hellishly hot days in August 1920, both camps headquarter at the Hermitage Hotel in the shadow of the State Capitol. Meanwhile, besieged by powerful lobbyists and political players, a group of dauntless Suffragists refuse to be intimidated as bribes, favors and whiskey flow freely.

In Dauntless: A Woman Suffrage Story, four fearless women fill the pages with the story within the story, which is theirs, after all.

About the Author
Intrigued by accounts of the selfless women who made Tennessee the thirty-sixth state to ratify the 19th amendment, author Paula W. Hickey chose four of them to narrate her novel Dauntless: A Woman Suffrage Story about that not-so-long ago summer in 1920.

They were women whose courage and sacrifice against overwhelming odds gave future generations of women the vote and, consequently, other social justice reforms benefitting women and children. Bringing them to life was as important as the suffrage story, and Paula hopes the readers will be fascinated by them as well.

Before retiring, Paula enjoyed a teaching career. She has three adult daughters and one granddaughter. She lives in Knoxville, Tennessee, with her husband, Mack, and two dogs.

Dauntless: A Woman Suffrage Story is a 186-page paperback with a retail price of $15.00. The ISBN is 978-1-4809-7921-5. It was published by RoseDog Books of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Fall Branch, TN Author Publishes Musical Book

Accasionaly Fames Appalachian Trails Musicals, a new book by Billy Wayne Crawford, has been released by RoseDog Books.

Writer, author, and musician Billy Wayne Crawford was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, on August 4, 1974, and still resides in the trails of the Appalachians. Guitar became part of his lifes ambition at the early age of fifteen.

Musicals in this book take guitar play to a different level, playing in Standard tuning or D#G#C#F#A#D# tuning at moderately slow speeds or moderately fast, and sometimes faster speeds is just basic guitar playing. When playing the musical theme Honky Tonk Monkey, a moderately slow speed is the answer to getting that phantom monkey to walk in the saloon in the intro and then sitting down to play a more moderately fast pace. Getting up to play the guitar which is a simple blues solo signature honky tonk monkey lick, then sitting back down finishing the fast pace piano piece, then standing up to just walk away at a moderately slow played outro with a smile.

When playing the Floor Boarder theme, imagine starting up an old 30s or 40s Model Ford or any old vehicle for that matter. The intro starts with a glass slide that gives the imagination of engine ribs and noise from the wheels. After a somewhat moderately faster pace, the Hot Rod car is going down the road changing gears to driving away into the sunset is the outro part. If played correctly, what a wonderful sunset.

Studying music for many years, one seems to gain the ability to write good musicals. Playing guitar, most musicians figure out the guitar fret board well and writing gets that much easier. What makes a musical is listening to a theme and figuring out what it means. Most importantly, use your imagination and a short musical story could come to life. The musical piece Electric Cowgirl is thought to make a good two step dance theme, by the author that is. That musical is special to Crawford as well. These musicals were perfected on a T-bucket fender Hot Rod series Electric/Acoustic guitar and they do sound way better plugged in with no special effects. Just tune the guitar to the D# tuning or standard tuning to a warm and crisp sound or tone mentioned in this unique book, because it is one of a kind!

Accasionaly Fames Appalachian Trails Musicals is a 64-page paperback with a retail price of $15.00. The ISBN is 978-1-4809-7358-9. It was published by RoseDog Books of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Pittsfield, IL Author Publishes Memoir of Mental Illness

51 Years of Bipolar Disease: A Survivor’s Story, a new book by Gregory Phillip Jones, has been released by RoseDog Books.

Gregory Phillip Jones’ severe depression began at age nine. With the exception of his mania (at age twenty-eight) – an ecstatic, joyful experience which lasted two weeks – his depression lasted until he was fifty-nine-years-old.

In 51 Years of Bipolar Disease: A Survivor’s Story, Gregory writes about his severe depression in childhood, his joyful, sublime manic experience, and the horrifying depression which followed the mania and lasted for decades. Gregory’s third psychiatrist, who treated Greg for twenty years, was never able to stabilize his emotional life, despite the use of dozens of anti-depressants and anti-psychotic medications. Lithium prevented a reoccurrence of mania, but destroyed his kidneys. To keep from committing suicide, Gregory underwent forty-nine or fifty ECTs (electro-convulsive treatments) for his depression. In 2015, Gregory’s new psychiatrist was able to stabilize him and he is now healthy for the first time in many decades.

About the Author
Gregory Phillip Jones grew up in Illinois. He has lived in Carlinville, Decatur, Jacksonville, Pittsfield, Summer Hill, and Jerseyville. He lived in Franklin, Kentucky, for five years. Gregory attended Western Kentucky University, majoring in philosophy and sociology with a minor in English. Gregory developed an intense and lasting interest in Shakespeare and some of the giants of nineteenth century American literature – Dickinson, Poe, Thoreau, Twain, and Whitman. Greg was the valedictorian of his class.

In his twenties and thirties, Greg was a dedicated jogger, canoeist, tennis player, bicyclist, and swimmer. At age forty-five, he became a competent hackey-sack player. His bad back and poor balance now make all of these favorite activities impossible. To keep in shape he now rides an adult tricycle. Playing the piano has been one of Gregory’s favorite pastimes since age five. Scott Joplin, Chopin, and Schuman are among his favorite composers. Due to his right pinkie being turned downward, Greg can no longer play Scott Joplin’s music. Greg’s brother, a classical guitar whiz, introduced Greg to classical guitar music, which Greg plays on the piano. In the future, Greg hopes to play the cello and flute.

51 Years of Bipolar Disease: A Survivor’s Story is a 240-page paperback with a retail price of $18.00. The ISBN is 978-1-4809-7339-8. It was published by RoseDog Books of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ford City, PA Author Publishes Poetry

Straight from the Pen, a new book by Kurtis B. Newill, has been released by RoseDog Books.

A sample poem from the book:

I’m a cunning linguist
The wrong ones are so well distinguished
The whole block is ready to start cocking
instead of pop locking and steady rocking
Slow cooking down at central booking
Even got freedom fighters looking the other way
Know the time seeks improvement
The street reeks of need for a movement
Shed light on hopeless situations
Unify all nations and tribes
Get together and spread good vibes
Every breath may be the last
Make a move and make it fast
Just look and see freedom is not free
When was it
Unity now and love does it
Desperation and degradation
to admiration in a nation on the verge of collapse
Perhaps it starts with you

Straight from the Pen is a 100-page paperback with a retail price of $12.00. The ISBN is 978 978-1-4809-7926-0. It was published by RoseDog Books of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
