Subaru Pacific Collecting School Supplies For Harbor Teacher Preparation Academy

HAWTHORNE, Calif, 03/14/2017 /SubmitPressRelease123/

As a part of the Subaru Love Promise initiative, Subaru Pacific is asking the members of their community to help collect school supply donations for the Harbor Teacher Preparation Academy. From pens and pencils to calculators and binders, the Hawthorne, CA, Subaru dealership is seeking donations that will enrich classrooms and give students access to the tools they need to learn and grow. Donations can be dropped off at Subaru Pacific, located at 14700 Hindry Avenue in Hawthorne, CA, during regular business hours throughout the month of March. Community members are also invited to join Subaru Pacific on Thursday, March 16, for the dealership’s Third Thursday Customer Appreciation event at 5:30 p.m., where there will be a designated drop-off area.

All donations will benefit the Harbor Teacher Preparation Academy (HTPA), a four-year Early College high school set on the campus of Harbor College in Los Angeles. The school was founded in 2002, with the mission of increasing graduation rates and college enrollment among at-risk/highly capable students, and to simultaneously address a teacher shortage by educating students who have a strong interest in becoming teachers. HTPA places a precedent on nurturing students who have high potential, but face barriers to their success. The school’s population includes students from single-parent households, as well as students who speak a primary language other than English and students who come from low-income households.

“As a member of the LAcarGUY family of dealerships and thanks to the Subaru Love Promise, Subaru Pacific has always made community involvement a top priority,” said James Hartzberg, General Manager of Subaru Pacific. “Community service is a main tenet of our dealership because we believe stepping up to help those around us is key to our success as a community. We want to do our part in building a better future for today’s students and tomorrow’s teachers.”

As a brand, Subaru works to make the world a better place through the Subaru Love Promise. The Love Promise is a pledge to do right by and make a positive impact in the communities in which Subaru dealerships operate. It encompasses five principle areas of focus, including Subaru Loves Learning. Through this, dealerships across the country work to make the pursuit of knowledge available to as many minds as possible, and provide students with the tools they need to grow. Since its conception, Subaru Loves Learning has donated more than $90,000 to teachers and impacted more than 15,000 students.

Rothman Institute Expands Partnership With Force Therapeutics

Philadelphia, PA, USA, 03/10/2017 /SubmitPressRelease123/

Rothman Institute Expands Partnership with Force Therapeutics to Optimize Patient Rehabilitation and Recovery from Surgery

Rothman Institute, one of the largest orthopedic practices in the country, has joined forces with Force Therapeutics to help surgical patients achieve better outcomes by optimizing patient communication and education.

Three years into their partnership, Force Therapeutics has guided thousands of patients to superior outcomes through digital plans of care. 41 Rothman Institute surgeons and their care teams now use Force in their practice. Over 15,000 Rothman Institute patients have been afforded access to the Force technology platform to prepare for and recover from surgery. These numbers are expected to grow rapidly in 2017 as Rothman Institute expands the use of Force further into their Spine and Sports Medicine practices. During the partnership between Rothman Institute and Force Therapeutics, functional outcomes have continued to improve with fewer post-operative physical therapy visits.

The Force platform seamlessly integrates with, and supports the patient journey at Rothman Institute, from pre-op set up through the post-acute period, using interactive, video-based exercise and educational materials prescribed by the surgeon. The home recovery tool engages patients in a daily, personalized physical therapy care plan and enables their successful recovery in the home. The educational materials are delivered along the recovery timeline, providing informative instructions just when the patient needs them. Additionally, real-time data and outcomes are actively collected as patients move through their care, providing care teams unprecedented insights into progress and outcomes outside the hospital.

“The Force platform is providing surgeons with new transparency into their patients’ progress once they’ve been discharged from the hospital,” said Alexander R. Vaccaro, MD, Ph.D, MBA, President of Rothman Institute and Chairman of Orthopaedics at Thomas Jefferson University. “This assists us greatly with designing evidence-based plans of care and bolsters our efforts as one of the leading orthopedic research institutions in the country. We are currently using Force’s data collection capabilities in five research studies in our total joint replacement and spine groups.”

The Force research platform has enabled Rothman Institute to compile four studies to date, including “Quantifying Patient Activity Before and After Total Hip and Knee Arthroplasty”, which was published as a poster at the American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons annual meeting in November 2016 and accepted into the Journal of Arthroplasty in 2017.

“Force Therapeutics is an important component of Rothman Institute’s successful transition to value-based care,” said Mike West, CEO of Rothman Institute. “Force is extremely cost-effective, quality focused, and significantly improves the patient experience for both non-operative and operative patients. This platform is the future as it relates to delivering value-based care. Our ability to monitor and communicate with patients is like no system we have seen.”

“Force is a great platform that delivers visually pleasing, standardized videos to patients about their recovery,” said Chris Vannello, Director of Quality at Rothman Institute. “The videos illustrate the proper method in which to perform prescribed exercises and convey a consistent message about the recovery process that can be completely customized to our patients. These videos are far superior to paper-based home exercise programs and educational materials and patients can watch these as often as they would like.”

Background on Force Therapeutics at Rothman Institute:

Over 15,000 patients accessed the platform since 2014
9,873 surgeries impacted by Force in 2016
6,460 patients set recovery goals in 2016
Average length of engagement in 2016 was 9.5 weeks.
46 physicians utilize the Force platform for their patients
On average patients access their videos on Force 39 times during an episode of care
62,573 patient reported physical therapy responses collected by Force

SUMMARY OF RESEARCH STUDIES CONDUCTED IN CONJUNCTION WITH FORCE THERAPEUTICS:

Quantifying Patient Activity before and after Total Hip and Knee Arthroplasty – published as a poster at AAHKS November 2016. Accepted into the Journal of Arthroplasty (JOA) 2017.
Unsupervised Home Exercise With and Without a Web-based Recovery Platform as Compared to Traditional Outpatient Physiotherapy after Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Prospective, Randomized Controlled Trial
Comparison of Formal vs. Home-Based Physical Therapy after Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty

Riverside The Hollywood Dream

x

Canyon Country., CA, USA, 03/10/2017 /SubmitPressRelease123/

Riverside, a television series produced by Joseph Naber and Dolly Nwaduba tells the story of a group of young adults from a variety of different ethnicities and nationalities who get together in Los Angeles in an effort to launch their careers in Hollywood. The unique part about Riverside is that it has the appeal of something that hasn’t been done before. An ambitious group of dreamers come together from every part of the world in Los Angeles to form an unbreakable bond – a true life-long friendship that helps them face every single obstacle that blocks their path to success in the entertainment industry.

Meanwhile these goal-oriented friends are smart, diligent, and are always willing to do anything for each other. The characters in the story start out as amateurs who work hard to adapt and fit into the new Hollywood culture. Every person who wants to see a TV show where the characters go through a life-changing transformative journey from young and inexperienced youths to mature, well-rounded people should watch Riverside. The interesting aspect of this series is that regardless of how much or how little the individual characters have in common their fierce loyalty towards each other only grows stronger. In most cases people outright refuse to be friends with anybody unless they have almost the identical same belief system as them.

Riverside’s trailer is both very engaging and has a soundtrack with an excellent beat. The trailer is very inspirational, and the TV show will definitely resonate with young up-and-coming actors, and people pursuing a career in Hollywood. It will also be a positive message to those who seek to follow their dreams.

Christian Janner is a Danish actor who is starring in the TV series Riverside as Anthony Ross. There are many reasons why Christian is perfect for this role. He studied acting in New York, but before he became an actor he also went to business school for three years, and even joined the Danish Army. Clearly this is a very gifted actor who is exceptional because he has the knowledge and ability to play various roles. This is demonstrated by the films he played in, which includes Dunkirk, Little Star, Pure Genius, and Words. The movie Words is especially controversial for its plot and because of the fact that it’s very relatable. It’s based on the true story of a girl named Haya being molested by a plumber in the Middle East, while the mother left the house.

Television shows like Riverside are not only influential but are also educative because they teach the viewers how to be steadfast, loyal, and driven with the motivation to succeed no matter what type of obstruction is in their way. The brilliant and talented Christian Janner is the ideal fit for these types of projects because he has acquired through knowledge and experience the right mindset and character necessary to act in them.

Philadelphia Car Accident Lawyer Rand Spear Says Millennials The Worst Drivers

Philadelphia, PA, USA, 03/09/2017 /SubmitPressRelease123/

Statistically those in the 19 to 24 year old age group, sometimes referred to as millennials, are the worst drivers on the road, according to The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, reports USA Today1. It’s not hard to find criticism of this group and the fact their driving is so bad doesn’t help. Young drivers of every era are dangerous, says Philadelphia car accident lawyer Rand Spear, because of their inexperience and willingness to take risks.

A survey of 2,511 drivers performed for the foundation found 88% of drivers 19 to 24 years old admitted to risky behavior including texting while driving, running red lights or speeding. What most drivers see as dangerous driving is perceived as acceptable by many in this age group. During the month prior to the survey:

Almost half of millennials admitted they ran a red light even though they could’ve stopped safely, compared with 36% of the rest of drivers.

Nearly 12% of millennials saw it as acceptable to speed 10 mph over the speed limit in a school zone, compared with 5% of others.

23% of all drivers, and 36% of those 19 to 24, responded that it’s acceptable to drive 15 mph over the posted speed limit on a highway.

46% of drivers stated they have driven that fast on a freeway.

The survey also found many drivers are hypocrites.

40.2% stated they read a text or email during the previous month but 78.2% called that “completely unacceptable.”

Almost 80% of respondents stated drowsy driving is “completely unacceptable,” but 28.9% admitted driving in the previous month when they were so fatigued it was difficult to keep their eyes open.

92.8% of survey participants called driving through a red light unacceptable if the driver could stop safely but 35.6% admitted running a light during the previous month.

Respondents had broad agreements on some safety issues.

Mandating ignition locks for first-time DUI offenders was supported by 81% of drivers.

More than half, 63.5% of drivers, agreed it was a good idea to reduce the legal standard for alcohol intoxication from a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.08% to 0.05%.

87% claimed they have never driven when they believed they were, under the law, intoxicated.

95% said they had never driven within an hour of smoking marijuana.

88% stated it’s not acceptable to drive without using a seat belt and 82% voiced approval of laws mandating that motorcycle riders use helmets.

The survey confirms what most of us know from personal experience, young drivers can be some of the most dangerous ones on the road. Risk taking and feeling invincible are common. Unfortunately that often translates into vehicle accidents where young drivers and others are seriously injured or killed.

If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident, contact an experienced motor vehicle accident lawyer right away. Your lawyer can answer your questions and help you determine the next steps in your case.

Call Philadelphia car accident lawyer Rand Spear today at 888-373-4LAW today to discuss your case with a knowledgeable vehicle accident attorney.

Boca Nursing Home Abuse Lawyer Says Beware Of Financial Abuse Of Loved One

Boca Raton, FL, USA, 03/09/2017 /SubmitPressRelease123/

Nursing home and assisted living facility residents are at risk of financial abuse by unscrupulous staff members. You may have thought the facility could be trusted with your family member but the reality is there may be staff members willing to steal and management unwilling to take the necessary steps to stop it. Boca nursing home abuse lawyer Joe Osborne says nursing home residents are often targeted by employees who treat residents as ATM’s, not people.

The amount of money embezzled and stolen from the elderly and frail in this country is truly astounding states the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau 1 (CFPB).

One study estimates elderly Americans had at least $2.9 billion stolen from them due to financial exploitation by a wide range of criminals in 2010, though the true cost may be much higher.

A 2011 study stated that only a fraction of these cases are reported and investigated. Protective services agencies or programs for victims dealt with about one in 44 cases of financial exploitation.

The CFPB lists some warning signs of potential financial abuse, including:

Missing possessions.

Possessions replaced with cheaper ones.

The resident lacks basics (such as underwear) but his or her personal needs account is depleted.

Blank deposit slips or withdrawal forms are in plain sight for easy taking.

A new acquaintance shows intense affection for the resident, isolating he or she from others.

Checks or other financial documents signed or dated when the resident can no longer write.

Suspicious signatures (there are many versions, some are shaky, others firm).

The resident’s checkbook shows checks made out to “cash” frequently and/or check numbers are out of sequence.

One extreme example of financial abuse is that of Avigdor Ziskin, whose son, Zachary Ziskin accuses his father’s former nursing home, Regents Park at Aventura in Northeast Miami-Dade of negligently allowing staff to financially exploit his father over a five-year period, costing $2.5 million according to the Miami Herald.2. A lawsuit filed against the nursing home claims:

Employees would write out checks to themselves, or to other people, using Victor’s checking accounts.

Would force Victor to sign the checks or would forge his signature.

If the nursing home failed to screen its employees to at least try to prevent hiring someone who may financially exploit a resident and that resulted in the thefts, the nursing home may have acted negligently. Nursing homes are responsible for the well being of their residents, including taking steps to make sure they’re not the victims of theft by staff, residents or visitors.

The exploitation can be:

Simple theft of money, an ATM or credit card or identity theft.

A scheme involving getting into the good graces of a nursing home resident to convince him or her the employee should be handling their finances, resulting in bank accounts being emptied, investments sold and property being signed over.

Staff members could also forge signatures or threaten a resident if checks or legal forms aren’t signed.

In these cases it’s often difficult, if not impossible, to get back the money stolen by the individual employees. But if it can be shown the nursing home acted negligently and didn’t prevent the thefts, or failed to become aware of them and stop them, a legal action might be able to recoup the losses. Victims of financial exploitation may also be victims of other types of abuse and neglect.

If you or a loved one have suffered financial exploitation by the staff of a nursing home in the South Florida area, contact Boca nursing home abuse lawyer Joe Osborne at (561) 800-4011 or fill out this online contact form. You can discuss your case, how the law may apply and your best legal options to protect your rights and obtain compensation for the harm done.

Manhattan Auto Accident Lawyer Discusses Drugged Driving And The Elderly

New York City, NY, 03/09/2017 /SubmitPressRelease123/

Most people are well aware that drinking and driving is dangerous and irresponsible. The reality is that any substance that impairs your thinking, concentration, or reaction time behind the wheel is potentially hazardous. This means that drugs, whether prescription or over-the-counter, can be just as deadly as drinking alcohol before hitting the road.

Although “drugged driving” is dangerous for a driver of any age, a recent report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reveals that drugged driving among the elderly is an area that has sparked concern, with 78 percent of senior motorists saying they take medication that could cause them to become impaired behind the wheel.

Seniors and Prescription Drug Use

To understand why drugged driving among older adults is worrying, it’s important to know the statistics behind how many seniors take prescriptions — as the numbers are quite high.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, people over age 65 make up just 13 percent of the U.S. population, but they account for one-third of all prescriptions dispensed in the country.

Developed by the National Council on Patient Information and Education, Medication Use Safety Training (MUST) for Seniors has gathered several alarming stats:

40 percent of seniors are unable to read prescription labels.
A survey of Medicare recipients revealed that 17,000 beneficiaries say they take five or more prescriptions.
Older adults have an increased risk of “serious adverse drug events” that can include falls, depression, confusion, hallucinations, and malnutrition.

Because many prescription medications and even over-the-counter drugs can cause drowsiness and other impairments, they can’t be taken if an individual plans to drive. If an elderly person can’t read the labels on their prescriptions — or if they aren’t aware of drug interactions among several different types of medication — they can be a serious danger to everyone on the road.

NYC Auto Accident Lawyer Discusses Elderly Drugged Driving

New York City auto accident lawyer Jonathan C. Reiter states, “For most seniors, driving represents a key part of their independence. Understandably, many are reluctant to hang up their car keys for good. If you have an elderly loved one who still drives, one thing you can do to help them stay safe on the road is to offer to read their prescription labels for them if they have a difficult time reading small print. Help them keep track of the medication they’re taking, so they are aware of possible side effects that can make it unsafe to drive.”

A free resource is Roadwise Rx, which allows users to look up medications to determine if they can lead to impairment behind the wheel. Roadwise Rx is a resource developed by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.

Side Guards To Stop Underride Crash Deaths

Dallas, 03/09/2017 /SubmitPressRelease123/

Because the trailer portion of a tractor-trailer sits so high off the ground, trailers are particularly hazardous for passenger vehicles, which can easily slide under the trailer in a crash. These are known as underride accidents, and they more often than not result in catastrophic wrecks.

Although federal law already requires underride guards on the back of trailers, there is no regulation that makes it mandatory for trailers to be equipped with side underride guards. Now, new fatality statistics for side underride crash deaths are prompting lawmakers to consider making side underride guards required equipment for every tractor-trailer on the road.

Side Underride Crashes Kill 200 People Each Year

According to government data, side underride accidents claim 200 lives annually. In many cases, these are gruesome accidents that result in decapitation, quadriplegia, and other horrific injuries.

Many people are surprised to learn that tractor-trailer underride guards have a Hollywood connection. According to an NBC News report, the death of actress Jayne Mansfield almost five decades ago was due to an underride crash. In late June 1967, Mansfield was killed when her car encountered fog that prevented her driver from seeing a semi on the road ahead of them.

The car crashed into the back of the semi, killing her and two other adults in the car instantly. Three of Mansfield’s children, who were in the backseat, survived the accident. Safety experts believe Mansfield’s death could have been prevented had the semi-truck’s trailer been equipped with a rear underride guard.

Although the crash spurred immediate talk of requiring rear underride protection on semi-trucks, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) didn’t begin requiring them until 1998.

NHTSA Recommends But Does Not Require Side Underride Guards

Texas tractor trailer truck accident lawyer Amy Witherite explains, “Currently, the NHTSA recommends that all new semi-truck trailers have side underride guards installed, however, this is a recommendation, which means that truck manufacturers are by law free to ignore the recommendation.”

The Truck Trailer Manufacturer Association, which is the lobbying arm of the trucking industry, has claimed that side underride guards are too costly and technically challenging to install. The lobbying group also says that adding them may weaken a trailer or dangerously increase its weight.

The NBC News report notes that tractor-trailers in Europe are required to have both rear and side underride guards on their trailers.

If you have been injured in a semi-truck underride crash, it’s important to protect your rights. Don’t wait to speak to an attorney.

Call a Texas truck accident lawyer as soon as possible to discuss your case.

PierCap Partners Relocates To Prime UTC Business Area

San Diego, CA, USA, 03/09/2017 /SubmitPressRelease123/

PierCap Partners is starting 2017 at their new office space in The Plaza, 4320 La Jolla Village Drive, Suite 300. The team is relocating from their previous office in Del Mar.

The Plaza at La Jolla came as a natural choice for the new office, with its vibrant environment, proximity to San Diego’s business community, and closeness to the airport. The diverse and delectable food options available nearby admittedly played their part.

“We continue to be in growth mode and the move underscores our commitment to both our clients and team members,” says Zaheer Dhruv, the co-founder and managing director of PierCap. PierCap Partners is expanding their team, while still ensuring senior-level engagement in every phase of the transaction. “As we expand, it is very important that we on-board the right talent that aligns with our culture of trust, transparency and fierce advocacy”, says Dhruv.

PierCap will continue to serve privately held, family-owned businesses, singularly focusing on M&A. “Our unique combination of industrial business ownership, Wall St. banking, and corporate leadership experience provides business owners with peace of mind and a position of strength throughout the process”, highlights Ashish Jariwala, the co-founder and managing director. Decidedly choosing to work with a small number of clients, PierCap Partners is fully committed to helping business owners create value and achieve their personal and business goals.
