Scientific Industries Reports Results for First Quarter

COVID Research Drives Record Benchtop Lab Equipment Revenues and Earnings

Investment in Bioprocessing Business Results in Overall Loss for the Quarter

BOHEMIA, NY / ACCESSWIRE / November 23, 2020 / Scientific Industries, Inc. (OTCQB:SCND) – For the three months ended September 30, 2020, the Company reported a net loss of $263,300, or ($.09) per basic share, compared to a net loss of $56,200, or ($.04) per basic share for the three months ended September 30, 2019 on total revenues of $2,156,300 for the three months ended September 30, 2020, an increase of $152,100 (7.6%) compared to total revenues of $2,004,200 for the three months ended September 30, 2019.

The Company benefited from record sales from its core Benchtop Laboratory Equipment Operations with increased worldwide sales of its vortexers and shakers, in part due to COVID-related research and testing. In addition, the Company also continued to enjoy increased sales of its recently launched automated pill counter, with expectation of continued growth in part due to a new exclusive distribution partner in Canada. Sales of the Benchtop Laboratory Equipment Operations were $1,930,300 for the three months ended September 30, 2020, a 22.5% increase from $1,576,200 for the previous year's quarter resulting in income from operations for the three months ended September 30, 2020 of $383,800.

As previously reported the Company is undergoing a massive expansion of its Bioprocessing Systems Operations ("SBI" with the hiring of key personnel in sales, marketing, engineering, and administration, which as expected, resulted in the increased loss from operations for the current period of $532,300. Recently, the Company launched its new scientificbio.com website with full e-commerce capabilities and the second half of the fiscal year will see the launch of its new generation of fiber optic enabled sensors. To improve awareness of its new sensing technology the Company has joined two major biologic and tissue manufacturing institutes which resulted in $1.425 million in grants to collaborators for three projects to develop two new families of sensors and test the Company's current sensors in a new innovative bioreactor. There is a robust pipeline of further grant submissions with collaborators that if successful is expected to drive market adoption of the Company's unique bioprocessing sensor solutions.

Helena Santos, CEO stated, "It is an honor for everyone at Scientific Industries to know that our products are an important tool in the extensive COVID-related research being conducted all over the world. We are committed to continue to meet COVID-related customer demand with increased production and superior customer service, providing our customers and scientists the tools they need to conduct their life-saving research, despite the challenges that our employees and their families face during this pandemic."

John Moore, Chairman of Scientific Industries said, "In 1954, Scientific Industries introduced the Vortex-Genie and the utility and quality of the device has led to its use in virtually every life science lab in the world. SBI is developing another such family of devices with even greater utility for cell scientists and the growing biologic therapy community. We have the capital and intentionally are making important investments to make certain we establish a decisive early lead in this exciting new category."

Shop Small and Give Back This Holiday Season

MISSION, KS / ACCESSWIRE / November 23, 2020 / This year has been tough for many. Despite the challenges, acts of compassion and generosity can bring together the global community. With this holiday season different than those before, it is important to remember the world's shared humanity and help make the season brighter.

For those who will be celebrating this season and are looking for gifts that give back, UNICEF Market offers an online collection of handcrafted gifts made by artisans from around the world. Supporting these small businesses helps both the artisans – many of whom are dealing with economic hardship because of the pandemic – and the lifesaving mission of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The platform brings business to artists like Mirian Otzin from Central America, who began weaving using Mayan techniques with her mother as a hobby at the age of 8. Otzin worked for a female weavers organization for 16 years before becoming an entrepreneur.

"This is something I'm grateful to UNICEF Market for because for me and many artists like me, this is our only source of income," she said. "Thanks to its system and the space it's opened up for artisan women like me, we still have hope that we can overcome this pandemic. During these hardships, we're still crafting in our home-based workshops, making sure we're following all the health protocols set by our health departments and the platform's rules that we must follow to keep everyone safe."

Featuring an array of woven goods, Otzin's profile includes table linens, cushion covers and bags. In addition to Otzin, more than 2,000 artisans are empowered on the platform. These entrepreneurs share their talents, selling their handcrafted items for homes and gardens, jewelry and more, such as reclaimed stone flowerpots and onyx and marble chess sets from Mexico, teakwood cutting boards from Thailand, silk tapestries from Ghana and knit blankets from India.

A portion of gifts' proceeds also help fund lifesaving programs such as nutrition, sanitation, education and more in the more than 190 countries where UNICEF works. Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, the organization's 13,000 staffers have reached 250 million children with distance-based learning and 2.88 billion people with virus prevention information, as well as delivering more than 234 million units of personal protective equipment, hospital equipment and diagnostic tests to frontline workers globally. As the largest vaccine buyer in the world, the organization is set to lead the procurement and supply of COVID-19 vaccines in the world's biggest and fastest operation of its kind.

Make Small Holiday Celebrations Special with a Fresh Menu

MISSION, KS / ACCESSWIRE / November 23, 2020 / (Family Features) Holiday festivities with immediate family members or just a few friends rather than larger gatherings may feel different than normal, but you can make the most of the situation with these tips to add intimacy and special meaning to celebratory moments:

Use special dishes, glassware and linens to convey the tone of the celebration. Go ahead and use your best dishes or enhance your everyday plates with the use of cloth napkins or a festive tablecloth. Bring out the fancy glasses to savor every sip.

Arrange visually appealing, individual mini-snack platters for each person. Combine grapes with a special cheese, crackers, olives and nuts for an easy way to curb appetites before the main course.

Set a festive table with a simple but creative centerpiece. For instance, you can combine candles, flowers and draped bunches of colorful grapes. Place votive candles on mirrors for added shimmer and sparkle. Tie a gold or silver wire ribbon bow around the napkins at each place setting. Handwritten place cards with guests' names can add a surprising and special touch.

Stay healthy to enjoy the holidays. Choose healthy foods like fruits and vegetables that help support the immune system. Maintain your exercise schedule as much as possible and ensure you are getting enough sleep.

Opt for homemade over processed foods for signature dishes then reinforce with prepared items to fill out the menu, if needed. Let your guests bring part of the meal or something to contribute to the festivities.

Adding a sweet touch to the menu can help keep guests coming back for more. For example, fresh California grapes are available into January and are perfect for the holiday season. Enjoy them as a fresh, healthy snack or side dish, or as an ingredient to add taste and visual appeal to recipes to make the season feel special.

Start the meal with a simple but beautiful salad such as Grape and Spinach Salad with Raspberry Balsamic Dressing, where the grapes provide festive color and pleasing texture. Pair your chosen entree with Warm Farro Salad with Grapes and Delicata Squash for a hearty side dish that can also be served on its own. Finally, cap off the celebration with homemade Grape and Apple Sheet Pan Pie.

Visit grapesfromcalifornia.com/recipe to find more holiday-worthy dishes from appetizers and entrees to sides, snacks and desserts.

Create the Perfect Appetizer Plate

Delight your guests with individual appetizer plates this season by considering color, texture and presentation. Remember, this is the prelude to the meal, so small portions are perfectly fine. Consider this starter list:

Cheese
Nuts
Fresh grapes
Olives
Hummus
Marinated artichoke hearts
Salami slices
Spinach or other dips
Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves)
Roasted red peppers
Crackers
Pita triangles
Thin breadsticks
Pretzels
Jam or honey

Grape and Spinach Salad with Raspberry Balsamic Dressing

Prep time: 20 minutes

Servings: 8

8 cups fresh baby spinach, washed

4 1/2 cups California grapes

1 1/4 cups mandarin orange segments, drained if using canned

1/3 cup thinly sliced red onion

3/4 cup bottled light balsamic vinegar and oil dressing

1/4 cup orange juice

3 tablespoons raspberry jam

3/4 cup crunchy chow mein noodles

In large salad bowl, combine spinach with grapes, oranges and onion.

Whisk together dressing, orange juice and jam. Pour over salad and toss until greens are coated with dressing. Divide among eight plates and top with crunchy noodles.

Grape and Apple Sheet Pan Pie

Prep time: 1 hour

Cook time: 50 minutes

Servings: 16

Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons kosher salt

3 1/2 sticks cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes

1 cup ice water, plus additional if needed

Filling:

3 pounds Granny Smith or other tart apples, peeled and thinly sliced (about 9 cups)

4 cups black California grapes

3/4 cup sugar

2 tablespoons all- purpose flour

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 pinch salt

1 egg

1 tablespoon water

demerara sugar, for garnish

To make dough: In large bowl, whisk flour, sugar and salt. Add butter and toss with flour mixture. Smash each butter cube flat then use fork to stir in cold water. Knead lightly until dough comes together in ball. Transfer to floured work surface and use well-floured rolling pin to roll into 10-by-15-inch sheet. Fold each short side into middle and close like a book. Fold once more to make thick block and cut in half. Wrap each piece in plastic and chill at least 30 minutes or overnight.

To make filling: In large bowl, combine apples, grapes, sugar, flour, lemon juice and salt; set aside.

To assemble pie: Heat oven to 375 F.

Roll one half of dough out to 18-by-13-inch rectangle. Transfer to 10-by-15-inch heavy baking sheet; place in refrigerator to chill while rolling out top sheet. Roll out remaining dough to 18-by-13-inch rectangle and use pastry cutter to cut into 1 1/2-inch wide strips.

Transfer filling into chilled pastry and spread evenly. Lay dough strips on top of filling in lattice pattern and crimp sides together. Mix egg with water and brush top of pie. Sprinkle with demerara sugar and bake until filling is bubbling, and crust is nicely browned, about 45-50 minutes.

Warm Farro Salad with Grapes and Delicata Squash

Prep time: 20 minutes

Cook time: 30 minutes

Servings: 8

3 pounds delicata squash, cut lengthwise, seeded and cut into 1/2-inch slices

3 1/2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided

1 teaspoon coarse salt, divided

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, divided

1 pinch cayenne pepper

1 1/2 cups farro

2 cups water

3 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1 1/2 cups halved California grapes

1/2 cup chopped parsley

Heat oven to 425 F.

On sheet pan, toss squash with 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and cayenne pepper. Spread into single layer and roast 10-15 minutes, or until bottoms are browned. Turn squash and roast 10-15 minutes, or until browned and tender.

While squash is cooking, combine farro, water and remaining salt. Bring to boil, reduce to simmer, cover and cook until farro is tender, 25-30 minutes. Drain leftover water and transfer to large bowl. Add squash, remaining olive oil, remaining pepper, lemon juice, lemon zest, grapes and parsley; toss.

Note: Acorn or butternut squash may be substituted for delicata squash.

A Young Kid At A Barbershop Sweeping Hair To An Owner Of Multiple Businesses; This Is The Story Of Jerry Speakman

NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / November 23, 2020 / What we do when we are younger can have a profound impact on who we become when we are older. This was the case for Jerry Speakman. An entrepreneur of many different kinds, he was first introduced to the idea of owning a business and being an entrepreneur at a young age when he had his first job at a barbershop.

"My motivation came from when I started my first gig at the age of 10 years old sweeping hair at our local BarberShop. It was called Rileys and now is named Overflo in Columbus, GA. This inspired me to become an entrepreneur like my mentors and coach who own the Barber Shop and Saloon. It kept me out of trouble and kept me focused on how to earn money for myself instead of asking for money from my parents. I was raised with both my parents but in a separate home. Yes, I understand things happen where your parents don't see eye to eye, but I didn't let that stop me because I know someone out there is depending on me to be successful," recounts Jerry.

Jerry runs a few types of businesses. He runs a financial literacy company, an automotive business, computer repair company and is involved in real estate. What has made Jerry so successful is that he is not focused on outside competition.

"There is no competition, the only competition I have is myself. When you look at yourself in the mirror, you should be your only competition because we get in the way of our dreams because we listen to the outside and let that control your business. You should focus on self and ignore those outsiders. Self is the key way to overcome obstacles. I must say once I did this myself, my business was suddenly booming. The reason is that once the laziness, procrastination, and my bad habits got out the way, that's when I started to be my own competition," Jerry states.

A huge part of this is not measuring success based on achieving goals but pushing himself toward his dream every day and seeing success in the little things.

"Everybody is successful if you wake up this morning if you are reading this article, you are successful, we are successful. Success is not about landing that big job or having an outstanding business; it's about you waking up every morning going after your dreams and inspirations. You must have the dog mentality when you wake up every morning. I will have a good day, I will be successful, I will be the next Warren Buffet in my family, and I will overcome every obstacle that comes my way. I will never be defeated if so much adversity comes my way, and I will never quit. Finish what you started, and you will be successful," Jerry says.

For those wishing to start their own business, Jerry says that mindset will be key in helping you begin your journey. Like many others, Jerry explains that getting started is always the biggest obstacle in the way of becoming successful. Once this is overcome with the help of a good mindset, anything is possible.

"Mindset is very, very important. Mindset is the key to having a successful business, and I must say if you are young and tuning in, make sure you do what your mind has in place and don't listen to anyone who tells you you can't do it, nor you will never be great. Strangers will be your biggest supporters when starting a business. The old saying when growing up is don't talk to strangers, which I agree with when you are little, but once you outgrow that stage, strangers will make you successful before anyone in your circle will," Jerry advises.

Helping Businesses Use Social Media To Grow: Jera Foster-Fell Finds Her Calling As A Social Media Coach And Content Creator

NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / November 23, 2020 / In just 5 short years, Jera Foster-Fell, also known as Jera Bean, went from a passionless office job to finding her calling as an influencer, content creator, and social media coach – all while making 6 figures a year, helping over 70 students graduate, and being named one of the top social media coaches of 2020.

In 2015, Jera recalls being in a dark period, wrought with anxiety, a lack of passion, and no friends to lean on. While scrolling through Instagram, on a whim, she bought a popular workout program from a health influencer she was following. This was a huge turning point as now, Jera finally had something positive and grounding in her life.

"I needed something positive and something grounding in my life and after years of struggle, and I found something that I finally felt excited about. The same day that I started the guide, I also created an instagram account to hold myself accountable. I instantaneously found so much joy in it. I found myself connecting daily to other women and it felt amazing to have a physical outlet in my life. And then, out of nowhere, I started to gain followers very quickly," Jera says.

Her account wasn't created with the goal of becoming an influencer – in fact, Jera notes that the word "influencer" didn't even exist back then. Nevertheless, within three months, Jera had amassed 10k followers, and within six months, she decided to leave her office job.

"I loved fitness, I loved social media, my following was growing- I knew that I could do something with all of these components," Jera says.

For two years, Jera was a SoulCycle instructor, learning more about the fitness industry and how to connect with clients. In 2018, she left SoulCycle to pursue content creation full-time, leading to the creation of her signature coaching course, The Social Media Saloon. The course is a three month group coaching program where Jera teaches business owners and creators how to master instagram by solidifying their online presence, building their communities, and turning followers into clients.

Her pivot toward social media coaching was motivated by two factors. Firstly, Jera looked at her goals from a strategic personal standpoint, asking herself if she wanted to be an influencer in ten years when she's 40 years old.

"Looking back on all of my pivots, and looking at how quickly the world of social media changes, I knew that anything could happen between now and when I'm older. I wanted to make a smart choice for my future by adding an additional revenue stream," Jera explains.

Secondly, Jera was motivated by something larger than herself and her future goals – she was motivated by her love of helping others.

"I get a profound sense of joy from helping other people and improving other people's lives. It's something that has always been important to me in some shape or form. When I combined that notion with realizing that I was full of social media knowledge, I knew I could harness the power of that to help others master these platforms that have become so ingrained in our lives and crucial to our businesses," Jera outlines.

With so many communities relying on social media to connect with others, especially during a pandemic, Jera sees the value in making it understandable to her clients. So many of us can tend to look at social media as complicated or a huge frustration, or at its best, a necessary thorn in their side. This apprehension is what Jera is trying to work against by teaching business owners and content creators not just how to use social media, but how to harness it as a powerful and positive tool.

Within the next year, you'll be able to follow Jera as she conquers a whole new platform – TikTok.

"TikTok is no longer just a platform for cute dances and lip syncing, so I'm excited to help business owners harness the potential power of this platform! From a business standpoint, TikTok is absolutely a great strategic platform to use, hence why I will be creating a course around it. Because of the potential for organic reach, it's great for brand awareness," Jera says.

With so much success in her professional life, within the next year, Jera aims to create more time for herself this upcoming year, unrelated to business.

"Working 12+ hour days for 7 days a week was the type of hustle necessary for me to launch and grow my business, but it's not sustainable. I'm learning more and more that I have to fill my own cup in order to continue to help others fill theirs," Jera says.

Be sure to follow Jera on Instagram and TikTok, and check out all her coaching services at the website here.

Oliver Knox and ELIT PPE Supplies: Addressing the Need for PPE in the EU

TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / November 23, 2020 / The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a worldwide demand for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

This pandemic's sudden spread has left many countries in Europe scrambling to procure PPE for their medical personnel. As a consequence of the high demand, the market for PPE has become littered with scammers and fake products.

Enter Oliver Knox, a Canadian based entrepreneur, and his childhood friend and business associate, Martin Macek. The two entrepreneurs hailing from the Czech Republic noticed a dangerous mass shortage of PPE in their home country, and immediately began sourcing certified PPE earlier this May.

Since then, their business has grown to become ELIT PPE Supplies.

ELIT PPE Supplies began when Oliver himself, along with fellow business investor Alexander Sasha Reljanovic, invested a large amount of personal capital to purchase stocks of PPE upfront. This eliminated the deposits, holds and other escrow solutions many other competitors used that often resulted in delays, payment errors and scams.

The aim of Oliver and his associates was to connect PPE sellers with buyers, in light of the lack of credible, reliable and affordable products on the current market. This helped establish ELIT as the reliable PPE source it is today.

ELIT PPE now supplies the majority of hospitals in the Czech and Slovak region, in addition to many hospitals and clinics in Austria, Poland, Hungary. Their next move is to enter the German market.

All the inventory and stock of ELIT PPE is currently kept on sight at a warehouse facility located in the Czech region managed by Vito Caraffa. Caraffa directs over 25 employees that manage the quality and integrity of the products going out for client delivery.

ELIT PPE is steadily cementing itself as the premier supplier of vetted and certified PPE. They are the first in the market to offer their clients shipments as fast as 48 hours, and flexibility in payment for up to 7 business days.

The company also boasts a specialization in client relations under client director Martin Macek, who ensures that all problems and concerns aren't swept under the rug, and are given the proper attention to ensure complete client satisfaction.

With all that's going on in the world right now, it seems that in this case, the EU medical community can certainly count on Oliver and his ELIT team.
