It will be the finale to a day-long celebration that includes performances by the Anaheim Ballet and Anaheim Union High School Combined Choirs, an international food fair, and the Candy Canine costume contest.

Jocel Bibera, alumni relations coordinator of the Lighthouse, shared that the family activities during the tree lighting event makes it a perfect outing for Lighthouse alumni. The free family activities will include snow play areas, train rides, craft areas for kids, and free photographs with Santa Claus.

“We love any opportunity to get involved with our community and we are happy that events such as this are right here in our backyard. It’s a great way for our alumni members and their families to start the holiday season and get into the Christmas Spirit,” said Bibera.

The amounts taken are taxed at ordinary income tax rates. Anyone that makes charitable contributions to qualified organizations could reduce their taxes by making those contributions directly from their IRA, rather than from their RMDs.

This means that seniors who make regular charitable donations could save on taxes by making those donations from their IRA directly to the qualified 501(3)(c) charity, instead of withdrawing the money into a taxable account first.
