The move will allow customers to acquire the Coca-Cola products that would normally be purchased directly from the company but are currently unavailable due to the lack of workers.

“Plenty of businesses are used to getting deliveries from Coca-Cola or being able to purchase wholesale products from the company, but they are being redirected to us until the labour issue is resolved,” explains Mike Commisso, co-owner and operator of MVR Cash & Carry. “MVR is the largest wholesaler in the province, so helping out in situations like this is just a way to give back to the business community.”

At the Refreshment Station set up at the front of the store, customers will be able to find the products they would normally get from Coca-Cola directly, including printed paper cups and lids and powder for beverage fountains. Not all of these are items that MVR normally stocks, but they are part of the assistance being given.

“It has gone as smoothly as it could, given the circumstances,” observes Commisso. “All our staff has been briefed and made aware of the change in procedures and how to handle any requests or questions these new customers might have, especially given the price difference.”

Coca-Cola direct customers normally pay below retail price for their products. The items MVR currently sells are priced at retail value, meaning these customers are paying more than they normally would. Coca-Cola is asking that customers save their receipts and contact their Coca-Cola sales representative to be reimbursed for the difference.
