Studies Connecting Drug to Excessive Bleeding Being Used In Xarelto Lawsuit Plaintiffs’ Court Proceedings

June 10, 2016 – – TheProductLawyers.com reports on the number of lawsuits which have been filed against Xarelto manufacturers and independent studies that have linked the drug to excessive bleeding. To date, there have been well over 2,800 federal cases filed that have been consolidated by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML). The multidistrict litigation (MDL 2592) is being overseen by the Honorable Judge Eldon Fallon in Louisiana. There is also a mass tort program in Philadelphia, PA with 550 cases filed against the drug manufacturers.

The blood-thinning drug Xarelto was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2011 and was released to the market to treat patients who were susceptible to blood clots and stroke after undergoing hip or knee replacement surgeries, and for treatment of various medical conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and atrial fibrillation. After its release, however, the drug became associated with some potential side effects that proved to be dangerous and life-threatening.

In response to these side effects, a number of independent studies were conducted to further investigate claims that were being made that Xarelto caused excessive bleeding, which are now also being used by Xarelto plaintiffs in their cases against the manufacturers of the drug. The first was done by two doctors, Judy Hun and John Hwang. The two doctors began to see some patients suffering instances of eye bleeding. After the doctors completed their study they concluded that the eye bleeding was precipitated when those using other more traditional blood thinner medications began switching to a Xarelto regimen.

Another study was done between October 1, 2010, and March 31, 2012, which examined the use of three blood thinner drugs, specifically Xarelto, warfarin and Pradaxa in a sample of 46,000 patients. The study’s results indicated that there was a much higher risk of bleeding with rivaroxaban (Xarelto) when compared with warfarin.

Almo Closes First Tranche of Private Placement and Enters into Investor Relations Agreement

VANCOUVER, BC / ACCESSWIRE / June 10, 2016 / Almo Capital Corp. (TSXV: APT) (the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has closed the first tranche of the non‑brokered private placement offering of up to $250,000 (3,333,333 units at a price of $0.075 per unit) that was announced on April 14, 2016 and May 13, 2016. In this first tranche the Company issued 1,976,000 units at a price of $0.075 per unit for gross proceeds of $148,200. Each unit is comprised of one common share and one share purchase warrant. Each warrant entitles the holder to acquire one additional share in the capital of the Company at a price of $0.15 until June 10, 2018. Finder’s fees of 7% were paid to Canaccord Genuity Corp. ($3,675), PI Financial Corp. ($2,105) and Leede Jones Gable Inc. ($1,050).

The common shares comprising the units and any shares issued upon the exercise of any warrants are subject to a hold period expiring at midnight on October 9, 2016.

The Company also announces that it has entered into an investor relations agreement with Soar Financial Partners, a brand of NorthStar Communicatins GmbH, (“Soar”). In consideration of Soar providing investor relations services to the Company, the Company will pay to Soar a monthly fee of 2,000 euros and reimburse Soar for certain out of pocket expenditures incurred on behalf of the Company. In addition, Soar will be paid 2,500 euros per “road show” day. Worker Critically Injured In Hartford, Safety Questioned By Construction Accident Lawyer

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicates that there are nearly 60 fatalities and over 4,500 injuries per year occur as a result of scaffolding deficiencies. Construction worker-fatalities accounted for approximately 19 percent of the total of work-related deaths in 2014, numbering nearly 900 fatalities. The BLS emphasizes that the number of fatal injuries has predominantly decreased since 1992, however, the total in 2014 was the highest number of fatal injuries since 2008. OSHA indicates that are nearly 2.3 million construction workers in the United States at any given time.
