Overview of Accomplishments, December 2014 – May 2015

December 2014

Valmie announced it was shifting its focus to technology and in line with this change appointed a new president and CEO, Gerald B. Hammack.  With this announcement, Valmie committed itself to become a tech innovator, working in the four “megasectors” of technology:  software, hardware, networking and semiconductors.

Valmie promptly put out a call for innovative products in the final stages of development that were ready to move beyond the pilot phase to full commercial development.

January 2015

During this time, Valmie initiated development of its proprietary end-to-end cloud platform, AIMD (Autonomous Intelligence for Mobile Devices). This SaaS (Software as a Service) platform, with the capability for robust customization, will collect and send data from the unmanned vehicles’ independent controller units back to a cloud-based modular resource network for aggregation and analysis.  The AIMD Platform will have the capability to determine intervention thresholds, quickly route pre-determined responses, communicate critical information to the operator, and in some cases deploy solutions in real time.

In order to accelerate the development and commercialization of the AIMD Platform, on January 27 Valmie signed a definitive agreement to acquire Vertitek Technologies, a developer of hardware systems and platforms for use in the commercial UAV industry including the V-1 Drone. Vertitek is an emerging technology company in the process of developing several novel advancements related to the use and control of commercial drones.

February 2015

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), the trade group that represents producers and users of drones and other robotic equipment, predicts that 80% of the commercial market for drones will eventually be for agricultural uses. In early February, Valmie signed an LOI with Monitoreo Especializado Agrícola de Jalisco, SA (MEA), an international crop monitoring solutions provider.  In collaboration with MEA, we plan to develop a customized system using the V-1 Drone and our AIMD Platform to focus Valmie’s inventive technology for agricultural applications. UAV technology, already in use throughout many areas of the world, helps growers’ continued efforts to efficiently monitor their fields, mitigate crop stressors and manage crop development. Imaging from drones allows farmers to combine their crop data with advanced crop imaging, mapping and pinpointing the most advantageous times for treatments.  This process, known as precision agriculture, can save the grower money from unnecessarily overusing resources while at the same time reducing the amount of runoff that could flow into nearby rivers and streams.

March 2015

On March 31, Valmie acquired Vertitek, a privately held tech frontrunner in the UAV sector. Vertitek was established to provide commercial drone software, hardware and cloud services for a wide range of applications in various areas of civil operations. With this acquisition, we obtained rights to Vertitek’s entire portfolio of investigational next generation UAV designs, including the V-1 Drone, which was being tested and prepared for its maiden flight.

April 2015

In mid-April, Valmie celebrated another major milestone as the V-1 Drone prototype successfully completed its first flight.  The landmark UAV lifted off from the test site while the engineering team on the ground closely monitored its progress and data stream. Valmie is now testing all operational systems and working on integrating the AIMD Platform.

On April 20, Valmie announced it was exploring adapting its UAV technology for Search and Rescue missions.  Search on foot and manned aerial search are very costly.  Highly maneuverable UAV’s have the potential to add invaluable support to these critical missions for a fraction of the expense and the risk.

In late April, Valmie began seeking additional acquisition partners who have developed innovative technology within the UAV space.

May 2015

Valmie was present at the AUVSI Unmanned Systems 2015, the largest global community of leaders in intelligent robotics and unmanned systems.  In addition to offering a unique venue to explore new developments in the space, we had the opportunity to meet with several highly qualified acquisition candidate companies. We are currently in talks with prospective acquisition partners in order to bolster our portfolio and identify winners early, helping them develop their technologies as we build shareholder value.

On May 13, Valmie signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a prominent search and rescue organization for the purpose of working with that group to develop and deploy our UAV technology for humanitarian missions.
