A Provider of Jobs Hiring in Portland Focuses on Total Worker Health

June 28, 2018 – – Portland, Ore. — In honor of Safety Month, this week’s safety topic is Employee Wellness, or total worker health, so this provider of jobs hiring in Portland, OR would like to concentrate on where Franchisees have the most impact—franchise office employees.

“Research has shown that working conditions and other factors at work can play a role in the long-term health of employees. To date, studies have linked working conditions and certain industries and occupations to a number of health conditions including depression, obesity, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes. These illnesses can lead to work absences and early disability, and decreased individual lifetime earnings and productivity,” notes the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s publication “Total Worker Health” in 2016.

The Basics
This agency states that the foundation to employee wellness is giving employees the resources to have a good diet, reliable housing, access to a physician at a reasonable cost, and paid time away from work to deal with personal issues without suffering a financial impact. The ability to handle these things leads to overall wellness and preventing employees from becoming unhappy, stressed, or sick.

In addition to benefits, they also stress respecting your employees’ personal time. Consider if employees are actually getting enough time to have a healthy lunch. How often do employees have sleep or restful time at home interrupted due to work “emergencies.” Give employees the time to enjoy healthy food choices, relaxation between shifts, and good sleep. This includes structured scheduling of lunches, as well as “on-call” hours split between employees.

Staying Active
They strongly suggest to encourage employees to be active and take care of themselves. Poll the team to find out what would interest them, such as diet, exercise, or losing weight. Managers do not need to ask employees about their individual personal health, rather ask “If we were to set a healthier living goal as an office, what would be something that would interest everyone?” At the Express Office, they have two examples to share. One structured method involves employees recording and submitting qualifying activities in order to receive discounts on their own cost for healthcare. On the less structured side, they have also hosted voluntary “Biggest Loser” challenges that reward simply by the percentage of weight lost, not the pounds.

This employment agency in Portland, OR understands what impacts employees’ financial well-being, providing a pay and benefits package that reduces stresses, and working with employees to find fun yet structured ways to promote a healthy lifestyle will increase attendance, productivity, and even job satisfaction, all while engaging your employees and increasing retention.

Goldrush Getaways Says Consumers Value Product & Destination Knowledge According To Travel Survey

June 28, 2018 – – Survey results from an international travel agency organization, including input from member agency Goldrush Getaways of Citrus Heights, CA indicate a shift in sentiment among consumers in what they value most about working with a travel professional. Findings indicate a travel advisor’s expertise and know-how far outweigh price when asked what skills and services their customers appreciate most, with the survey responses broken down as follows:

1. 65% Product knowledge (i.e., differences between cruise lines, hotels)
2. 53% Destination knowledge
3. 30% Help in emergency situations
4. 26% Special deals/amenities (i.e., upgrades)
5. 22% Time savings
6. 11% Price

“To have price come in dead last tells me we’ve turned the corner when it comes to our clients’ awareness of the real value that a travel professional makes in creating extraordinary vacations,” says Jeff Oestreich, President, Goldrush Getaways. “And, while our customers are certainly mindful of price – as are we – the days of ‘Can you get me the super best deal’ are no longer a top priority for them. Instead, they’re often asking about places and products that deliver authentic experiences, where they’re immersed in the local culture or a bucket-list adventure or destination.”

This first-ever ‘Ensemble Agents Make A Difference’ Survey was conducted by Ensemble Travel® Group and reflects input from nearly 2,000 of the organization’s members in the U.S. and Canada. Goldrush Getaways has been a member of Ensemble since 2016 and is able to offer its clients a number of special benefits because of the business affiliation. In other survey activity where respondents could choose two skills/services, assistance with air travel was the most called upon service during a trip, specifically:

1. 67% Air
2. 48% Tour/land
3. 32% Hotel
4. 25% Cruise
5. 6% Car rental/rail

And with regards to what generation/demographic is the most appreciative of agents’ expertise, results show baby boomers topped the charts at 78%, followed by a distant second of Generation X at 17% and Millennials at 5%. In addition, survey results indicate a banner summer travel season ahead when compared to the same three-month period last year based on Ensemble members’ booking forecast, with the responses broken down as follows: 17% reported bookings to be up significantly (more than 25%)
39% up (5-24%); 34% same; 9% down (5-24%); and 1% down significantly (more than 25%).

Goldrush Getaways is an award-winning full-service host travel agency. It was established in 1996 to assist independent agents with an in-house staff of professional agents and member-service personnel. Communication is made easier through toll-free telephone access, email, interactive website, and online webinars. The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has authorized Goldrush Getaways to provide training for its members and agents. Details about the training classes are published in a monthly calendar of events, as well as being available on their website at http://goldrushgetaways.com. Face-to-face training and travel booking assistance are also available in the company’s offices in Citrus Heights, CA, for the Sacramento area; Campbell, CA, for the Silicon Valley, San Jose, CA, and Bay areas; and Rancho Cucamonga, CA, for Southern California.

How Things Work Science Projects Website Extends Science Project Contest

June 28, 2018 – – The How Things Work Science Projects website has recently launched a science project contest for the summer. They have now announced that they have extended the contest to go through July and end in August. Full details about the contest can be obtained through the company’s website at http://how-things-work-science-projects.com.

Dave York from How Things Work Science Projects says: “We recently started sponsoring a science project contest to enable educators and students to stay busy over the summer. The aim is to encourage people to have fun while learning something new as well. We have now decided to continue to run this contest across July and end in August, thereby effectively covering the entire summer.”

The contest requires students to pick a project from the How Things Work Science Projects’ website. They must then complete the project, together with friends and family if they want to. At each step of the project, they should take videos or photographs and add those to a written account of what they have done. This should include the project, the theory, the observations, and the conclusion.

The projects that students can pick from have proven to be very popular. This is true both for educators and students. Roberta D., for instance, says on the website: “Thanks so much for the great resource for both teachers and students. Many of my teaching friends have used the site to help them obtain great ideas for younger students who needed something age appropriate for a science fair.”

First and second place winners will be announced when the contest closes. The first prize is an Amazon gift card valued at $50, a Flying Machines Kits valued at $25, a featured post with full credit for the participant’s work on the How Things Work Science Projects website including photographs, and a Winner Circle Page featuring one of the images shared on social media. The second prize will be an Amazon gift card valued at $25, a featured post on the How Things Work Science Projects website, and a Make Your Own Money Science Kit from the Smithsonian valued at $19.

Mike Marko Releases Post On How To Create Marketing Videos

June 28, 2018 – – Mike Marko, founder and owner of Cincinnati, OH based digital marketing agency IM Consultant Services, has released a blog post designed to teach how to properly produce videos on YouTube for marketing purposes. The company offers a variety of services, including SEO, blog content writing, branding, online marketing funnels, social media marketing, pay per click, search engine marketing, press releases, email marketing, website design, and now Pervasive Presence. Marko’s latest blog post is titled, ‘How to Create Marketing Videos on YouTube’.

Mike Marko himself says: “Videos are the fastest growing marketing strategy. This makes broadcasting on YouTube an effective way to get leads and grow your brand online. When used correctly, you will be able to reach a vast audience that can potentially turn into loyal customers. This means you must be able to create highly engaging and interesting content that showcases your brand’s personality and attract viewers.”

In the blog post, Marko offers a number of important tips for those considering the creation of marketing videos. He explains that this must start by defining purpose, which means considering the ultimate aim of the video. He explains: “It is important to determine whether you want to make people laugh, you want to advertise your brand, or you want to educate.”

The blog post then goes on to explain that a marketing video should not be a sales pitch. Many businesses focus too strongly on talking about a product, instead of about their business. This is why it is also very important to consider the scope of the video, thinking about things such as location, lighting, the script, actors, equipment, and so on. He also recommends that businesses consider hiring a pro to have the greatest impact. He says: “If you want your YouTube page to be taken seriously, hire a professional to help you create your video. Professionals not only provide all of the necessary equipment but they also know what will look good on film. This type of experience takes time to master and makes all the difference.”

The blog post also provides other important tips on how to create marketing videos. People are encouraged to read through the information and contact IM Consultant Services should they require any help.
