Introducing the Petzvar 4/120 Petzval Lens for the Hasselblad 500 Series

Olympia, WA – If you shoot with a Hasselblad 500 series or other medium format camera, there’s a new lens on the horizon. On September 12 2015, Denys Ivanichek launched a Kickstarter campaign for the Petzvar 120mm f/4 Petzval pictorial lens.

“Years ago, when I was building my first lens prototypes, my goal wasn’t to pursue the creation of the sharpest lens ever made. No, I wanted to create a lens completely different from the modern lenses we see from any number of manufacturers today,” says the creator, “I wanted to create a lens that would produce an image resembling the kinds of images we saw in the first years of the photographic era. I wanted to produce a lens that would be unique for our time.”

The Petzvar lens uses a genuine Petzval scheme: two achromatic groups of elements. This classic design has not been redesigned or improved and it retains the design’s inherent flaws and imperfections. The Petzvar lens was designed primarily as a portraiture lens, but can be used as a pictorial lens for landscape photography as well.

This is Denys Ivanichek’s second successful Kickstarter project, which has raised over $30 thousand with fifteen days to go. The Petzvar 4/120 incorporates a leaf shutter and is being made specifically for Hasselblad 500 series cameras. As it’s still a standard Hasselblad V-mount, the 2nd generation Petzvar can be mounted and used on 200 and 2000 series bodies. Also, two additional mounts are offered besides the original 1st generation Pentacon Six mount: Mamiya 645 and Pentax 645.

“By today’s standards, this primitive design can’t compete with or be compared with modern lenses in any respect. It has lots of known optical flaws, which are corrected in the contemporary lens schemes,” Ivanichek explains, “But it’s those imperfections which are exactly what makes the Petzvar such a fun lens to use. It creates a feeling completely missing from lenses designed today, it is unpredictable and absolutely bursting with its own character.”

In exchange for pledging to the project, backers can gain access to a variety of rewards including a Petzvar 3.8/120 lens with your choice of three mounts (Pentacon Six, Pentax 645 or Mamiya 645) for as little as $450, a Petzvar 3.8/120 lens with Hasselblad mount for the early bird price of $480 and more.

For more information, please visit the Kickstarter project here or contact the creator below.

HVAC Market Predicted to Grow at 6.2% CAGR from 2014 to 2022

Based on the results of recent study, the HVAC equipment market is forecast to develop at an incredible rate of 6.2% CAGR (Compounded Annual Growth Rate) from 2014 to 2022 and reach USD155.10 billion before 2022. The HVAC equipment market was valued at 91.30-billion US dollars in 2013.

In the forthcoming years, the HVAC products are likely to enter commercial as well as residential market segments. Another main segment that is likely to experience modest growth over the period of forecast in this field is the industrial category.

With the demand for AC appliances increasing on a global scale, the air conditioning category dominated the HVAC market in 2013.

The main aspects that drive the HVAC market are raising new households, increasing urbanization, increasing disposable income, and average construction investments. The increasing demand for HVAC equipment in the commercial segment and incredible growth in the Asia-Pacific area is also a main driver for this market. Though, a key factor that has been limiting the HVAC market growth is the high consumption of energy by these products.

In the upcoming years, the opportunities in the market are associated with the rising trends of energy efficient equipment developments, smart homes, and implementation of green technologies by HVAC product makers. So, energy efficiency would be one of the main concerns that would be focused up on by the global manufacturers. Many big market players like Lennox, NationalAirWarehouse, and Daikin have already started selling such energy efficient products. The initiative taken up by these market leaders is the stepping stone towards success in terms of energy efficiency of HVAC products down the lane.

The research report also gives CAGR for every market segment for the period of forecast. The HVAC product market has been geographically divided into 5 regions – North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa and Latin America.

“No Drop” Cataract Procedures Make Eye Surgery More Convenient for Patients in DFW

Cataract patients in Dallas/Fort Worth have reason to rejoice thanks to a new treatment method designed to eliminate one of the most frustrating aspects of cataract surgery – postoperative eye drops.

Sept. 30, 2015 – Kleiman | Evangelista Eye Center, with offices in Arlington, Plano and Dallas, is the first practice in DFW to offer the “No-Drop” cataract surgery, a procedure that is receiving rave reviews from patients and surgeons alike.

In the standard postoperative care for cataract surgery, patients are required to diligently use both antibiotic and steroid eye drops before and after their procedures to prevent infection and inflammation and to promote healing. While the drops have been effective, the rigid expectations for the drop schedule can be difficult to follow. Missing scheduled drops can lead to an increased risk of potential complications.

For patients who medically qualify for the new “No Drop” cataract surgery, the surgeon administers a mixture that contains the antibiotic and steroid medications into the eye during the surgery. The medication remains in the eye where it slowly dissolves while the eye is healing. This allows most patients to heal without the need for additional prescription eye drops.

In addition to the convenience, many patients report a significant cost savings for the “No Drop” cataract surgery. Typical cataract surgery prescription eye drops can cost $100 to $400 per eye. In contrast, if patients elect to undergo “No-Drop” cataract surgery, it is rare for them to pay for any prescription eye drops.

The surgeons at Kleiman | Evangelista Eye Center say the new “No Drop” procedure is a welcome addition to the advanced cataract technology already in place.

“When you look at cataract treatments over the last decade, we’ve made many incredible advances in technology,” said Anthony Evangelista, MD, partner surgeon at Kleiman|Evangelista Eye Center. “Between our LifeStyle Lens procedures and the LenSx cataract laser, we’re able to help many patients enjoy clear vision, often reducing the need for corrective lenses. ‘No Drop’ cataract treatment is the latest advancement that’s not only exciting for patients, but for our surgeons as well.”

“With the new ‘No Drop’ treatment, we are able to make cataract surgery more convenient, finally bringing the most frustrating aspect of cataract procedure – the postoperative drop regimen required during the recovery – into the modern age,” said David A. Kleiman, MD, founder of Kleiman|Evangelista Eye Center.

Kleiman | Evangelista Eye Center remains on the forefront of vision correction and breakthroughs in cataract surgery. Their team of surgeons has performed tens of thousands of cataract procedures since the practice opened 33 years ago.

Market Panic Presents Huge Discounts on Development Stage Biotechs

CORAL GABLES, FL / ACCESSWIRE / September 30, 2015 / Every guru has his own code for distinguishing between legitimate bear markets based on deteriorating fundamentals and all out irrational panic selling. A good sense for differentiating the two can be the difference between catching the proverbial falling knife and picking up great value. Rather than go into complicated chartistry and technical signals, there is a very simple way to tell the difference between a real bear and irrational panic from one sector in particular, and that is development stage biotech stocks. What moves these stocks is news, good or bad. If these stocks are tanking on bad or lukewarm news, then the selling makes sense and investors should stay away rather than try to catch the falling knife. But if they’re selling off on specifically good news, panic selling is taking place, the result of beta market conditions likely triggered by margin calls in other positions.

This kind of situation lends itself to finding great buys and truly great opportunities. This situation is happening now across the development biotech spectrum with several different companies that have all reported positive clinical trial news, in some cases within the week.

VBL Therapeutics (VBLT) – Selling Off on Strong Phase 2 Data

VBL Therapeutics’ Vascular Targeting System is the company’s gene therapy approach to attacking solid tumor cancers. Among other applications, the system introduces new genes into the vasculature of solid tumors through a viral vector. The genes then destroy the tumor vasculature, cutting off blood flow.

The company just announced positive phase 2 results for the oncology application of the system, called VB-111, and the results were not just lukewarm. They were clearly positive. Shares went up briefly when the news was released, but after a few minutes shares began selling off with the rest of the tech sector and have since collapsed 30%, overshadowed and perhaps triggered by near panic selling in the broader Nasdaq. It’s not like the good news can be easily twisted or read in a negative light. Overall survival in the continuous VB-111 arm of the trial was significantly higher than control, 15 months to 8 months (p=0.048). The overall response rate was nearly 30% with two complete responders in the continuous VB-111 arm. Response rate was only 9% control, and no complete responders.

Under normal conditions, these data would have resulted in a sustained move up for the stock for more than just a few minutes as happened on September 28. Overall market conditions ruined what could have been sustainable gains, but the bad timing does allow potential buyers to buy the good news at a discount of around 30%.

CytRx (CYTR) Sells Off For No Apparent Reason

Last week, CytRx announced the publication of its positive phase 2 trial results for Aldoxorubicin in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Aldoxorubucin mimics the chemotherapy Doxorubicin but with higher efficacy and less side effects. The publication highlighted Aldoxorubicin’s significantly more potent efficacy and progression free survival in sarcoma patients. Progression free survival increased by 106% over the Doxorubicin arm with much less severe adverse events, a win across the board.

But that did not stop CytRx from selling off this week, for no apparent reason other than going along with the tidal wave of liquidation this week. CYTR shares have dropped nearly 20% in two days. Aldoxorubucin is a potential $200M market, and could completely replace Doxorubicin because it is demonstrating both better efficacy and decreased side effects. This is an opportunity to pick up exposure at a 20% discount so far, because the selling makes no fundamental sense.

GenSpera’s (GNSZ) Mipsagargin Shows Even More Promise, And Shares Sell Off

GenSpera has been an undervalued enigma for quite some time, and its mispricing has only gotten even more pronounced. GenSpera is already significantly undervalued relative to its development stage peers with similar drug candidates in the same clinical stages and with even smaller market potentials. The discrepancy was exacerbated earlier in September when GenSpera reported positive results for Mipsagargin on glioblastoma tumors.

Mipsagargin targets a protein found in the vasculature of many tumors called prostate specific membrane antigen, or PSMA. Once it finds that protein, the drug become active and releases a toxin that kills tumor blood vessels, but only where PSMA is present. This is what makes it targeted with minimal side effects.

GenSpera has already released positive phase 2 data for Mipsagargin on liver cancer, but shares sold off even more on positive phase 2 data on glioblastoma brain cancer. On September 9, the company presented data that showed Mipsagargin effectiveness against brain tumors exhibiting PSMA, just as it should. Reduction in tumor size as shown by MRI revealed that effectiveness was almost immediate after a single dosing, with a side effect profile minimal, and very similar to what was seen in the liver cancer trials.

The only way to spin the results negatively is to say that Mipsagargin was not effective against tumors with a low PSMA staining profile. But then again, it is not supposed to be. Now that the data is recorded in actual cases, the company can tailor its phase 3 to only patients exhibit high PSMA in their tumors. Still, despite demonstrating its main candidate’s effectiveness on more than one type of tumor, and therefore potentially on all PSMA solid tumors, the stock sold off a remarkable 58% since the news broke.

Conclusion

Biotech stocks have seen rough days this week along with the rest of the tech sector and the broader Nasdaq. It is always difficult to tell if any given down week makes sense in context or not. The right call can be a very valuable one indeed. But there are tells when massive selling just doesn’t make any sense at all and attractive discounts are low hanging fruit. It’s one thing if fundamentals break down, but development stage biotechs often have few fundamentals to speak of in terms of revenues beyond a cash clock.

It’s another thing if these stocks are selling off on specifically good news. In that case, it’s just irrational panic selling, which happens from time to time. Further, if it were just one company, then maybe it’s just a fluke. But this is happening across many trial stage biotechs. The selloffs in BLT Therapeutics, CytRx, and GenSpera on specifically good news say a lot more about fear in the markets in general than they do about any of these companies’ true value.

Rainbow Bridge Announces Jazz Artist Cindy Bradley Will Be First To Perform In Amphitheater

September 30, 2015 – – Rainbow Bridge, a dog sanctuary in Carlsbad, CA, has announced that noted jazz performer Cindy Bradley will be providing the first performance in their planned amphitheater as soon as it is completed. Further information is available on the planned amphitheater and the upcoming performance by Bradley can be found at www.MyRainbowBridge.co.

“We have great plans for our dog sanctuary and we are so happy that Cindy Bradley has agreed to be our first performer,” says James DePelma from Rainbow Bridge. “It is appropriate because Cindy is a dog lover and she believes in our vision and mission. We hope that many others like her will perform at our center.”

On the grounds of Rainbow Bridge will be everything that a dog could ever need. The huge plot of land is covered in green grass and shade. Work is currently taking place to landscape the gardens so that they include trees, flowers and lakes. All of these will allow dogs to roam to their heart’s desire.

A number of things are also taking place to encourage people to make donations to the dog sanctuary. The one the team at Rainbow Bridge is most proud of is the donor wall. On it, the name of every person who has contributed to the cause will be listed. It will provide a visual reminder of the people who participated in achieving the goal of taking homeless, unwanted dogs off the streets and giving them a permanent, loving home.

“Our goals are huge, but we believe them to be achievable,” adds James DePelma. “We want to make the world a better place for dogs, but we also want to improve the San Diego County economy by creating jobs. Cindy Bradley’s performance will also help with this, because her performance will help to make sure Rainbow Bridge can run efficiently.”

Rainbow Bridge understands that their center will require substantial funds to operate. However, they believe it to be a worthy cause, and they are looking for people who believe in it to make donations through the Rainbow Bridge website. Any donor who does so at present will receive free admission to the Cindy Bradley concert.

Nevada Zinc Buys 100% Interest in Historic High Grade Nevada Zinc Lead Mine

TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / September 30, 2015 / Nevada Zinc Corporation (TSXV: NZN) (“Nevada Zinc” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce it has purchased a 100% interest in the Mountain View Mine (“MVM”) located within the Company’s Lone Mountain Zinc Project. The MVM, which has been a key outstanding acquisition target since the Company commenced exploration and drilling in the Lone Mountain area roughly one year ago, cements the Company’s holdings in the area to 100% of all mineral titles in the Lone Mountain area. The MVM property boundary is located within 60 metres of the closest point of drilling on the Company’s Discovery Zone and approximately 200 metres from the Company’s latest drill hole, LM-15-36 which intersected very significant high grade zinc and lead mineralization averaging 9.49% zinc and 1.34% lead,(10.83% zinc + lead) over a 91.44 metre (300 foot) interval.

President and CEO, Bruce Durham commented on the acquisition: “We have continued to intersect long intervals of high grade mineralization that expand the overall footprint of the Discovery Zone. We knew that in order to expand the footprint of the mineralization much farther to the southeast we needed to acquire the Mountain View Mine property. We managed to purchase 100% of the propertry with no further obligations and we can now go back to work on expanding the footprint of the Discovery Zone and also commence an evaluation of the various targets around the Mountain View Mine workings.”

Highlights

– The MVM is reported to have produced some 5 million pounds of zinc and some 0.6 million pounds of lead from non-sulphide mineralization comprised of smithsonite, zincite, hydrozincite and cerussite.

– Production statistics from the MVM indicate that mining of high grade zinc (and lesser lead) was carried out intermittently between 1942 and 1964.

– Recently reported drill hole LM-15-33 intersected zinc-lead mineralization from 146.3 to 152.4 metres, an interval of 6.1 metres that averaged 2.71% zinc and 0.41% lead (3.12% zinc + lead) approximately 60 metres to the northwest of the nearest point of the MVM property.

– Recently reported drill hole LM-15-34 intersected zinc-lead mineralization from 128.02 to 144.78 metres, an interval of 16.76 metres that averaged 4.20% zinc and 1.76% lead (5.96% zinc+lead) approximately 60 metres to the northwest of the nearest point of the MVM property.

– The Company’s most recent drill hole, LM-15-36 intersected a 91.44 metre zone of high grade zinc and lead mineralization in the interval from 146.30 to 237.74 metre that averaged 9.49% zinc and 1.34% lead (10.83% zinc+lead). Importantly there is no drilling beyond the long high grade interval intersected in drill hole LM-15-36 so the ultimate dimensions of the Discovery Zone remain open to further significant expansion toward and away from the MVM property. This hole is located approximately 200 metres from the closest point of the MVM property.

– The most recent drill program results (Phase 3) expanded the footprint of the Discovery Zone of mineralization up-dip, down-dip as well as along strike in both directions from the discovery first reported in the Company’s press release dated November 19, 2014.

– Drill holes completed in the first three phases of drilling define an area of mineralization over a 180 metre strike length, over a dip length of up to 250 metres and that averages approximately 40 metres in thickness (varying from a few metres to more than 100 metres). Mineralization at the Discovery area remains open to further expansion including in the area beyond drill holes LM-15-33, and LM-15-34 near the MVM property.

– Plans are underway for a Phase 4 drill program that will focus on the expansion of the Discovery Zone mineralization and some initial testing for mineralization on the newly acquired MVM property.

The Mountain View Mine Property

Little information is readily available on the operations at the historic Mountain View Mine. In a Nevada State report by Roberts, R.J., Montgomery, K.M., and Lehner, R.E., (1967) and titled Geology and Mineral Resources of Eureka County, Nevada, Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology, Bull. 64, the following is indicated:

Production years were from 1942-1964 and production totaled 4,952,627 lb of zinc, 649,579 lb of lead, 4,040 oz of silver and 600 lb of copper (no data provided or available for 1950).

Roberts et al (1967) reported the first claims were located in the area in 1920 for zinc. Production was small until 1942 when high grade zinc carbonate was discovered on the Mountain View claim. An underground mine was established with levels on the 44-foot and 82-foot levels. Production in 1942-1943 totalled 2284 short tons grading 28.8% zinc and 4% lead. Production to 1964 amounted to 4,952,627 lb. of zinc, 649,579 lb. of lead, 4,040 oz of silver and 600 lb of copper. The mineralogy of the ore was reported to be smithsonite, zincite, hydrozincite and cerussite, malachite, and azurite. It was reported that small amounts of sulphide were present locally, principally, sphalerite, galena, chalcopyrite, and pyrite. A small drill program was reported to have been completed in areas proximal to the MVM properety which indicated the presence of additional mineralization. Mineralization is located within brecciated Devils Gate Limestone and is thought to be structurally controlled, perhaps at the intersection of two fault systems (Roberts et al.).

It is not known if any mining or exploration has been completed on the MVM property since 1964.

At this point the Company has little more information about the mining and exploration activities on the MVM although it is known that some additional information is likely available from private sources. The Company will endeavor to secure as much data as reasonably possible prior to commencing work on the property.
